Old cards better than new ones? (Noob's perspective)

i dont no anything about pokemon card battling. i used to colect them as a kid but was always too dumb to no how to battle.

but does anyone apart from myself think the original cards were better? like the forrest and the rocket ones?
it's just cos they used to be a lot rarer, my friend bought 2 booter packs a wile ago and he got charizr din one of them and a venusaur in the other... to me that just stinks of wrongness

yeah indeed, old versions have better cards, such as the pokemonpower from blastoise, allow unlimited water energy to be put inplay, pokemon breeder, energy removal

those cards are the best

since it kinda clash with the new cards playing system, they are now considered banned cards and can only be played in 'unlimited' format

cleafabble indeed, the best card i've ever use sigh~

Those cards are stupidly overpowered compared to modern cards, which is why The Pokémon Company introduced the Modified format.

Yeh, but charizard used to be so rare. all the cards used to be so rare. u realy had to work to get some kwl looking cards. i don't realy know the battle side of things but i dont c the acheivement i having a charizard or watever when u can get one in every second pack... and the cards are all advanced lookng nowdays... i dont no if that means anything but i dont like it...

charizard for me, is a solid stage 2 but 100 damage for 2 energy is way too wasteful

since new expansions now are normal dealing with 100 in one shot
lol

LOL...

Nowadays some basic ex's can do 100 or more with lower cost and discards...

Not when you compare those to the early Exs, as I think it was more even, then. Or they were harder to take out, no matter how many Removals, status effects, etc you had. Heh.

Now, yes, that's a valid reason why the Modified format exists. That way, no jerk can do "CompSearch, Oak, DCE, Pluspower" anymore. Of course, the bigger reason is money, but we all know that. Heh.

i remember i made a deck where my only pokemon were 3x charizard, charmeleon, charmander. the deck was full of pokemon traders/breeders, energy retrievals, super potions and just general charizard support. it was invincible.

I dont play the game anymore, but i still do collect the old cards (series 1, 2, Rocket, Jungle, Fossil, and Gym) I got a holo Charizard, Venusaur, and Blastoise for only $7.50 :-D

I found some of the card combinations to be very powerful more than an individual card.
