Slash or Fury Swipes?

I replaced Porygon w/ a Sandslash and i wanted 2 no which move is better:
Slash or Fury Swipes? Here he is:
Sandslash
Slash/Fury Swipes
Earthquake
Rock Slide
Signal Beam

Pleaz reply soon! Need 2 stick in signal beam b4 goin 2 Battle Tower! Thanz.

Porygon June 21st, 2004 10:20 AM

Replaced Porygon!?!?!?!? Gah! Not good. Lol. Slash is more accurate, but 4 or 5 Fury Swipes is more powerful. Slash also has more PP, so it all depends on preference.

If you're going up against a Raging or Rough Skin Pokémon, though, go with Slash. Each Fury Swipes hit will enrage the enemy or hurt you, respectively.

Of course, how often does that happen? Lol.

Mew9 June 21st, 2004 10:23 AM

lol. true, true, true. Sorry bout replacing Porygon (don't hav a heart attack) but he wasn't workin 4 me. Stats were 2 low. Thanz- i think i'll go w/ slash, but if some1 gives me a reason Fury Swipes is better, i'll go 2 my best friend the move tutor.

Porygon June 21st, 2004 10:31 AM

Meh. Most people don't like Porygon, anyway XD
Really, the best thing it can do is change its element… If you don't like the speed, there's always Agility.

So which is it? Slash or Fury Swipes?

Pokedragonfire June 21st, 2004 10:57 AM

Slash also has an effect of increasing the chance of a critical hit, and is way more reliable than fury swipes. Add a scope lens and he'll be hitting criticals hits all over the place, unless he's up against a pokemon with the ability that prevents that. Go with slash, I would if I were you...

Porygon June 21st, 2004 11:07 AM

Yeah, but Slash has a much lower crit hit ratio than in R/B/Y; I see a Slash–related crit hit about as much as other attacks.

Except with Dire Hit.

Pokedragonfire June 21st, 2004 11:17 AM

Yah, but it is still much more reliable than fury swipes. So, the whole game of pokemon has a lot of chance in it anyway...

stewie&rupert June 21st, 2004 11:20 AM

go with slash. fury swipes is to weak and as porigon said b4, fury swipes ferther enrage the opponent in high atk.
slash may is more powerful than fury swipes anyways and i never use fury swipes bcuz its 2 low accuracy and it never pleases me bcuz its too rare to get 5 hits with it.

Mew9 June 21st, 2004 12:30 PM

wats a scope lens and where do u get it?

Iveechan June 21st, 2004 12:53 PM

Return and Body Slam are both better than Slash.

Shinin June 21st, 2004 12:55 PM

scope lenses increase critical-hit ratio
scope lens + slash = !

Mew9 June 21st, 2004 12:57 PM

Where do u get the scope lens????!!!!

Frostweaver June 21st, 2004 12:59 PM

where's the option for none of the above?

Reason:

a) fury swipes is low power, and lack STAB... though it does have a sub breaking property like rock blast, it is just so weak without STAB unlike Armaldo using it.

b) critical rate? ok big deal it's 12% instead of 10% like the other attacks... as if that 2% matters. Whatever slash with slope lens can do, return still does it better. Plus Sandslash...

Legal Sandslash- [atk + / sp.atk -] @ leftovers
EV: Atk, hp, def
-earthquake
-rock slide
-protect
-brick break/return/HP Physical

Mana Lugia June 21st, 2004 1:03 PM

Frosty:

In GSC, Slash's CH rate is 25% to normal move's 6.25%

In RS, not sure how it works, but I was under the impression that High CH moves are almost always CH'ing, just like RBY, when my early experiences against Leaf Blade did not come up with a satisfactory result :(

Kairi June 21st, 2004 1:05 PM

Actually the critical rate without a move like that is 6.25%, and moves like Slash are 12.5% ^_^; At least it was in GSC, and I think RS…
Edit: Really? I could have sword slash was a 12.5% in GSC...bah this is why I sucked at it~

IceKitten June 21st, 2004 1:08 PM

Give it Return over Slash, lol

How the hack did u get Signal Beam? lol

Frostweaver June 21st, 2004 1:22 PM

... and embarrassing stuff like this happens when you don't have the usual computer with all the Pokemon info stuff with you... x_x;

lol... all of his Pokemon got funny moves like that anyway... must love that leaf blading and earthquaking Oddish (which resulted in a flood of PMs with people asking "How do you breed leaf blade/earthquake on Oddish Frosty? Mew9 got one I want one too!" Rofl XD

Mana Lugia June 22nd, 2004 5:57 AM

Uh, lets seee...

Stage - CH rate
0 - 6.25%
1 - 12.5%
2 - 25%
3 - 33.2%
4 - 50%

Something like that. High CH moves start at stage 2, FE = +1 stage, Scope = +1, Lucky punch/stick = +2stage...

And no, you cannot use Focus energy on a Lucky chansey or a Stickfetch'd.

And yeah...

Frostweaver June 22nd, 2004 9:12 AM

I remember GSC being 25%... but is RS Slash/RL/LB and etc at stage 1 or 2 naturally? I thought that it's just stage 1...

Mew9 June 22nd, 2004 10:01 AM

LOL Frosty. Dats great. I never knew my sharked moves could start such an uproar. And yeah, u've got 2 love my Oddish, though i replaced Earthquake w/ Shadow Ball (anti-psychic). Oh, God, i beter not post ne of my other guys, lord knows what would happen. lol. dats great. ne way, WHERE DO U GET THE SCOPE LENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't tell ne1 bout my Signal beaming sandslash, or my bulk up and meteor mashing sakrmory.

IceKitten June 22nd, 2004 10:49 AM

OMG now u got it Shadow Ball?!

Stop cheating.....please...=/

EDIT: 1,000 post! yay!

Mew9 June 22nd, 2004 4:20 PM

i'm gettin rid of shadow bll Tig, so don't worry. I don't mind cheating, as long as the results don't make the game less fun. giving Sandsash signal beam and Unmentionable S Meteor Mash and Bulk Up seem to make the game mor fun, and i don't hav 2 go through the trouble of trying 2 cross breeding 'em. I don't do cheats like hav all badges and every move OHKO and stuff. AND 4 THE LAST TIME- WHERE IN THE HECK DO U GET THE FREKIN SCOPE LENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Simon June 22nd, 2004 4:41 PM

Why don't you just hack one??? You have a GS...

Mew9 June 22nd, 2004 5:03 PM

i like the way u think, Demonchoas. I guess i waz just too lazy. *takes out his AR and hacks a scope lens*

EDIT: Frosty, where did u get the Pokedex u use? U said it waz from Netbattle or something, so is it on the Netbattle website? Does it hav the R/S info? I could really use it *obvious* Thanz.

Simon June 22nd, 2004 5:13 PM

I'm thinking he just uses the Team Making thing. It shows what moves a Pokemon can learn and their stats and stuff...and yeah.
