roleplay denial

Ive got a suggestion. Just throwing it out there

Something I have noticed is if someone submits a roleplay that if it is denied the person has no idea that it has and does not know whether or not it has been recieved. Plus they do not know why their rp was denied so they would submit one exactly like it the next day. So I am suggesting that someone set up a sticky or PM the person with the information about why they were denied and how to improve

Heh. Awesome idea. It would certainly save the RP mods a headache or two if they did that.

Loki October 16th, 2007 7:45 PM

Eh. It adds a few headaches, actually.

It's extremely bothersome to PM everyone who gets their roleplay's declined, because then they PM you back, and ask you why, and then you tell them and then they PM you over and over and over again asking you 'is this okay?' and it's really not fun after the fifth time you've asked them to add to their plot and they've added a sentence, at best.

PMing everyone is just a really big headache, I tried it once and it just wasn't cool. :/

I don't know about the sticky thing, because I don't really understand what you're suggesting there, but the PM doesn't appeal.

Eh. The sticky thread was what I was saying. I think that there could also be a rule that says you cant resubmit an RP for [x] amount of days if it's declined and make sure the RP Mods explain very well why they rejected the thread in the sticky.

yeah exactly. In the stickied thread you could post every so often roleplays that were declined and why. Also how they should improve and such. It does help people create better roleplays.

Also THIS IS MY 1000th POST YAHOOO!!!!!

Here's my thoughts on the matter:
It's your job as a member to read the rules and understand them. Even if you still don't grasp what is acceptable, there are plenty of accepted RPs to glance at. There really is NO excuse for submitting something sub par with all of that available to you.

Am I the only one who finds that kind of system just a tad mean? I mean come on, that would basically be like going: "Look, everyone! This person posted an extremely crappy plot! Let's pick it apart and let everyone see exactly how bad it sucks in every way.". No offense, dude, but I have a feeling that won't sit very well with the plot writer. The weaker the plot, the more protective the writer tends to be; if anything this would scare a lot of people away from even trying to submit plots because they're afraid of seeing them end up as warning examples. :\ I guess some kind of really in-depth guide on plot writing might help, but you're neglecting a fundamental problem here: what kind of people read these important stickies? That's right; people who realize that they still have stuff to work on and have a genuine will to improve. In my experience, the ones who keep posting subpar plots don't usually belong to this category so you'd pretty much be preaching to the choir. At the most, you'd reach a handful of RPers who would most likely have discovered their shortcomings and found a way to overcome them anyway. The rest of them aren't even making proper use of the stuff that's already available.

The above is all just my personal, biased opinion of course. :3

Agreed with Alter Ego, I would've said this last night, but alas, sleep called me.

Either way, the stickied thread idea isn't really one that we might consider, because it's nobody's business but ours as to what threads were declined and for what reason.

Thanks for the suggestions though~
