WATCH CAVEMEN ON ABC

[email protected] Glasses
Nature: Lonely
Trait: Swift Swim
EV Spread: 252 SPATK / 180 ATK / 78 SPD

Surf
Waterfall
Dragon Pulse / Ice Beam
Rain Dance

Okay, before I get shot for two Water-type moves, let me explain. Most people expect a Special Set-Up on Kingdra. So, predicting a switch (which happens 90% of the time), out comes that blasted pink puff ball. Oops, to their dismay, I use Waterfall and Blissey loses about 51% of its health. My only conundrum is Dragon Pulse or Ice Beam.

[email protected]
Nature: Bold
Trait: Own Tempo
EV Spread: 252 HP / 180 DEF / 78 SPATK

Surf
Hidden Power [Electric]
Calm Mind
Slack Off

I've managed to sweep entire teams with this beast. No one can outright wall it except that blasted Shedinja. After two or three Calm Minds, his defenses are almost impenetrable and any damage done is simply Slack Off'd. Skarmory and Gyarados are usually OHKO'd by this set, especially after only one Calm Mind. Milotic that don't carry Hidden Power [Electric/Grass] as well hate Slowbro.

[email protected] Belt
Nature: Adamant
Trait: Motor Drive
EV Spread: 252 ATK / 200 SPD / 56 HP

Thunderpunch
Ice Punch
Earthquake
Cross Chop

I'm a little mad at Electivire at the moment. His Cross Chop just missed on a Slaking and that resulted in Electivire's untimely demise. Other than that, I've been very happy with his performance. I didn't go for the Mixed 'Vire because I have a Skarmory killer in Slowbro, so I left the Blissey killing to Electivire. Also absorbs the Thunderbolts directed at my Slowbro/Kingdra/Ludicolo.

[email protected]
Nature: Quiet / Brave
Trait: Torrent
EV Spread: 252 ATK / 182 HP / 76 SPATK

Earthquake
Waterfall / Surf
Ice Beam
Hidden Power [Grass]

Mixedpert has managed to enrage his brethren with the presence of Hidden Power [Grass] on this set. I have been using Brave on this set, but I've noticed not a lot of oomph behind his Special Attacks, so I was considering switching to Quiet. I've also been using Waterfall, but was wondering if I should go with Surf.

[email protected]
Nature: Careful
Trait: Pressure
EV Spread: 252 HP / 162 ATK / 96 SPDEF

Shadow Sneak
Fire Punch
Will-o-Wisp
Pain Split

The EV Spread is kinda wacky, but I've seen a moderate amount of success with her. I prefer Shadow Sneak over Shadow Punch because of the priority status of the attack. Fire Punch has helped me counter numerous Forretress, Lucario, Scizor, Meganium that come my way. Pain Split is Noir's preferred method of "healing" and Will-o-Wisp pisses off a lot of Salamence, Metagross, and Tyranitar.

Okay, so I've been using:

[email protected] Orb
Nature: Modest
Trait: Swift Swim
EV Spread: 252 SPATK / 138 SPD / 120 HP

Hydro Pump
Energy Ball
Ice Beam
Rain Dance

Yeah, sweeper Ludicolo. A lot of people expect the Seeder Set, sending out a Celebi or Tangrowth to absorb the seeds just to have an Ice Beam blow them away. Hydro Pump + Rain Dance + STAB = Huge chunks of opponent's HP sapped away. Energy Ball is for Swampert and Ludicolo serves as my back up Rain Dancer.

My problem is that if I team I face relies heavily on Spikes/Stealth Rock/Toxic Spikes, I'm screwed. So I was considering replacing Ludicolo with a Rapid Spinner. The obvious choice is Starmie, but I was wondering if perhaps another Spinner could fit into this team.

You can't have it both ways. Either use Surf, or use Waterfall. Dragon Pulse can cover you special attack needs.

That's the strategy, I love it, and Kingdra doesn't have anything awesome besides that anyways...

Great team, I love it.

Dark Azelf October 30th, 2007 8:16 AM

Oh yeah on Kingdra i had a similar idea using it mixed.

Try this

[email protected] Orb
Lonely Nature
54 Hp / 196 Att / 244 sp.Att / 16 speed
Ability: Swift Swim
- Waterfall
- Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse
- Surf / Hydro Pump
- Rain Dance

All it needs are 16 EV s in speed to become the fastest Non-Uber in rain. Also in Rain it 2hkos Blissey with Waterfall. Ice Beam is kinda redundant due to the only thing fully walling this is steel and you hit those with Water moves any way (The Life Orb'd Dragon moves will beat other Dragons regardless). Dragon Pulse if you want it to stay in the battle longer. Draco meteor for get in, sweep, get out.

Mixed Kingdra really works. I just had some tweaks I needed to perform on it and Azelf's suggestions have really helped.

spike6958 October 30th, 2007 1:35 PM

the only real problem i can see is that you have 4 pokemon that are part water, i think you should loose the ludicolo for a fire element because a strong grass pokemon could take out all you pokemon (except dusknore but you would be stuck if you only had him left)

luke October 30th, 2007 1:38 PM

Ummm... it's a Rain Team. And I have Fire-type moves on my team, so I'm not worried. And Ludicolo can handle Grass-types on its own. My only problem is Toxic Spikes/Spikes/Stealth Rock.

Rapid Spin Starmie maybe to remove that problem?

Timid Nature
172 HP / 120 SP.ATT / 216 SPEED
Trait:natural Cure
- Ice beam/Thunderbolt/Thunder
- Surf /Hydro pump
- Rapid Spin
- Recover

Outruns max speed timid Gengar with he above speed EVS. With EV investments in HP and base 85 defenses it can take hits better than you think. Recover so you can Remove Spikes/ Stealth Rock Repeatedly. Thunder can be used in your case to abuse Rain Dance or Ice beam if you fear dragons (which you, dont based on the rest of your team). It might fit in nicely with the rest of your Rain Dance team.

luke October 30th, 2007 1:54 PM

I'm guessing I'd have to replace Ludicolo. But it does so well in a Rain Dancing team.

ThePlaya October 30th, 2007 3:22 PM

Probably dumb but I will suggest removing Swampert instead of Ludicolo because 1.It Has very little weaknesses 2.Its Swift Swim w/a rain dance on it will be Really fast. And 3.having both kingdra and Ludicolo w/swift swim will be good on Rainy days dont you think.
Well hope I helped...(probably not).

It's fine. You COULD just keep Waterfall and ditch Surf.

You're team is good, but yes, you're missing several roles (Rapid Spinner, SRer, etc.) You use an awful lot of water types.....fits well with the Swift Swim theme though.
