RMT [Sandstorm v2 w/ Threat List]

My other thread died because no one answered the fixes on the updated team so instead of bumping I just created another one. Here's the newer version of my not yet built sandstorm. I am open to all suggestions.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa450.png
Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Sand Stream / Impish Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 252 DEF / 6 ATK
- Earthquake
- Ice Fang
- Slack Off
- Stealth Rock

Keeping this one. Hippowdon did really well in my opinion.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa472.png
Gliscor @ Leftovers
Sand Veil / Impish Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 252 DEF / 6 ATK
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Aerial Ace
- Roost

Keeping this one too since I need it to counter fighting types/moves.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa121.png
Starmie Choice Specs
Natural Cure / Modest Nature
EVs: 252 Sp. ATK / 252 SPD / 4 HP
- Grass Knot
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Surf

Didn't like the idea of not having any water or electric moves so I added Starmie into the mix.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa248.png
Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Sand Stream / Adamant Nature
EVs: 252 ATK / 196 SPD / 60 HP
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Pursuit

Keeping Tyranitar also because it's one of my heavy hitters and I can't think of anything that I should replace it with.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa205.png
Forretress @ Leftovers
Sturdy / Relaxed Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 162 ATK / 96 DEF
- Spikes
- Gyro Ball
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake

A physical wall/spinner that replaced Garchomp. Gives me grass resistant, Gyro Ball for STAB, EQ for electrics, and Spikes for the extra pain on the switch.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa346.png
Cradily @ Leftovers
Suction Cups / Careful Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 164 DEF / 92 Sp. DEF
- Toxic
- Rock Slide
- Recover
- Earthquake

Same Cradily but instead of Stealth Rock I've put in Earthquake

Threat List:

Tyranitar: Hippowdon / Forretress
Gyarados: Starmie
Infernape: Hippowdon / Starmie
Azelf: Tyranitar [If it doesn't have Focus Blast]
Rhyperior: Hippowdon / Starmie?
Electivire: Hippowdon [If it doesn't have HP Grass]
Heracross: Gliscor
Salamence: Hippowdon / Cradily
Togekiss: Tyranitar

Starmie: Tyranitar
Weavile: Forretress
Dugtrio: Tyranitar / Hippowdon

Slowbro: Tyranitar / Starmie
Machamp: Gliscor

Aerodactyl: Forretress
Snorlax: Tyranitar / Hippowdon
Zapdos: Gliscor / Cradily

Slaking: Hippowdon / Tyranitar?
Tangrowth: Gliscor
Ninjask: Hippowdon / Forretress
Metagross: Hippowdon
Heatran: Starmie
Celebi: Tyranitar / Gliscor?
Jirachi: Tyranitar / Cradily / Hippowdon / Gliscor / Forretress
Swampert: Starmie

Consider Explosion on your Foretress. Gyro Ball will ocasionally leave a heavy dent, but Explosion is pretty much a free kill if you know you're about to be taken down. Set up as many layers of spikes as possible, then explode when the time is right. My opinion, scrap either Gyro Ball or Earthquake for Explosion. (Preferably Earthquake, Gyro Ball gets STAB.) One more small thing, since Foretress pretty much will never strike first, consider an item that will slow him down, maybe Lagging Tail. It'll make Gyroball a lot more powerful I believe.

I see a bolt-beamer murdering you

Recover is fail on Starmie.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Natural Cure / Timid Nature
EVs: 216 SPD / 176 HP / 120 Sp. ATK
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Surf

Didn't like the idea of not having any water or electric moves so I added Starmie into the mix.
I like my Starmie with Choice Specs and Grass Knot.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfa/dpmfa248.png
Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Sand Stream / Adamant Nature
EVs: 252 ATK / 196 SPD / 60 HP
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Pursuit

Keeping Tyranitar also because it's one of my heavy hitters and I can't think of anything that I should replace it with.
Either max the Speed or use no Speed at all.

Uh, sure

Cradily @ Leftovers
Suction Cups / Careful Nature
EVs: 252 HP / 164 DEF / 92 Sp. DEF
- Toxic
- Rock Slide
- Recover
- Earthquake

Same Cradily but instead of Stealth Rock I've put in Earthquake
Uh huh

Might wanna add Swampert to that threat list, amigo. Which is exactly why I'd consider running Grass Knot on Starmie.
Matter of fact, Gastrodon would be even more hell to deal with that Swampert would be. (At least one running Curse + Recover anyway)

Lumine October 31st, 2007 7:53 AM

You might not like this idea and this is probably too common, but why not an all out spec sweeper Starmie?

Starmie @ Choice Specs
Timid
EVs: 6 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
-Thunderbolt
-Ice Beam
-Grass Knot
-Surf

Hi my name is Starmie and i can survive an unboosted Jolly Weaviles Night Slash with 176 hp evs, which allows me to take the hit and Rapid Spin saving the rest of your team, I also can come back later and Recover on something that doesnt pose a threat and is slower than me thus Recovering the damage ive taken earlier from weavile(Not saying you should stay in on Weavile its just an example of how hard of hits it can take) and repeatedly remove stealth rock and spikes whilst recovering the damage from spikes also.

Anyways It doesnt fail on starmie, it has base 85 in both defenses, which is higher than Milotics physical defense and Recover is standard on Milotic yet it doesnt fail.

Syaoran October 31st, 2007 10:02 AM

Recover on Starmie is definitely NOT fail <_<;

Also, how is your team going to handle a specs draco meteor Salamence?

Cradilly can, assuming sandstream is up.

Draco meteor does

Damage: 136 - 160
Damage: 36.17% - 42.55%

w/Sandsteam up,

So just make sure you recover after so you can take a few hits from it.

EDIT: 666 posts, today ? Ironic .....

Sorry it took me this long to reply. I've made just one change since my last post. I'm going to drop the current Starmie and replace it with SpecsStar with the following information:

Starmie @ Choice Specs
Natural Cure / Modest Nature
EVs: 252 Sp. ATK / 252 SPD / 4 HP
- Grass Knot
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Surf

Though I'm thinking about replacing it with Empoleon to cover SpecsMence since I see that as my biggest problem currently. I could max out Cradily's HP and SPD and give it Stone Edge, that way I keep Starmie and I lose one of my major weaknesses.

Look at my previous post Cradilly only need 92 sp.def EVS to lol at specs mence with Sandstorm up. Theres your Specs Mence Counter.

Also you can go with Specs star due to you already having a Rapid Spinner in Forretress.

Oh, my bad. I guess I must have accidentally skipped over your post as I was skimming through everything. So I just need to take 4 EVs from the DEF stat and add them onto Cradily's Sp. DEF

That was a Typo i meant all it needs is your current 92 in Sp.Def lol

Never the less it still walls Specs Mence and completely Recovers off all the damage taken

Okay, EVs fixed and I've added Cradily to the Salamence section of the threat list. Also, do I need to take out a move for Stone Edge or is his moveset fine for now?

Stone Edge = more power less accuracy, less PP, Rock Slide = More PP, less power, more accuracy.

I always go with more power on walls for example i put Fire Blast > Flamethrower on Weezing. Saying that Stone Edge could put a dent in Gyarados etc .switching into Cradilly . However its up to you on that one ,so ill leave it for you to decide.

Anyways moveset for it looks fine.

Extric November 3rd, 2007 5:52 AM

Hmm... Cradily does fine with Rock Slide and I like accuracy over power on my walls also, so I'm going to just keep Rock Slide. Currently the team looks good so I think I might go into the actual development process later today and maybe do some battling tomorrow or Monday.
