Entei? What's that? Some NU poke, right?

Okay, this is for 3RD GEN. Now that that's out of the way...

Basically, I've used both raikou and suicune, and both are very impressive. Still, I wish entei was better. Its poor movepool and odd stat distribution have knida made it obsolete...but I have wanted to use it for some time. I'm unaware of the standard, so go easy on me :) This was what I plan on using:

Entei @ Leichi Berry
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 136 HP / 136 Atk / 236 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, SDef-)
- Substitute
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Flamethrower
- Calm Mind

This is meh. With these EVs, Entei has 405 HP, which allows it to get to 1 HP and activate the Leichi berry. I've never used this sort of strategy before, so yeah. HP fighting lols at blissey and the 101 sub does as well. I can then CM up and super-charge flamethrower. Entei gets exactly 300 Attack as well with these EVs (yeah, I'm a numbers freak) and add the leichi and it's 450. So it's like a mixed sweeper. the rest of the EVs are in speed to give it...speed...however, in the ecvent this set is made of epic fail, I've created a backup:

Entei @ Salac Berry
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 136 HP / 152 Spd / 220 SAtk
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute / Rest
- Calm Mind / Sleep Talk
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Flamethrower

Special sweeper. Same concept, only a special hidden power. It gets 300 speed to beat non-jolly mence. CM up, salac gives you godly speed to sweep the day away. I can also go resttalker.

As you can see, I'm unsure. suggestions?

boo836 November 3rd, 2007 1:32 PM

You could go sunny beamer.

Samson November 3rd, 2007 1:54 PM

you could always use it supportively w/ reflect.

i'm not a fan of having hp values on legendaries, regardless if it's netbattle or not =/

I thought of that, but I couldn't think of a set that would fit it well. any ideas?

Why?

Do my sets work, or is there some standard I'm missing? As you can see, I'm n00b-licious with Entei, and proud.

EDIT: and I hate the sunnybeamer set to be honest. I hate almost all sunnybeamers acvtually.

Entei.........

I'm not sure if a Rest/Sleep Talker would be a good idea for Entei. Though it may work with the diverse set of Fire and Ice. Though most special walls in the 3rd gen will just walk over it.

Smarties-chan November 4th, 2007 7:43 AM

Bleach and Sunshine, don't post 4th generation suggestions for 3rd gen teams/Pokémon.

Ah..

My Mistake. D;

Entei @ Salac Berry
Nature: Timid
EV:252 HP/ 200 Spd/ 56 Sp Atk
-Calm Mind
-Flamethrower
-Hidden Power Grass
-Bite

Eos Aduro November 4th, 2007 10:40 AM

Hey Anti-Pop, made an addition to my sig, Im using it as insurance.

Techinically Resttalker isnt impossible, Sleep Talk is an Emerald Tutor Move, so you COULD go

Entei-Leftovers or something
Timid?
Rest
Sleep Talk
Flamethrower
Hidden Power Fighting

Shiraishi November 4th, 2007 10:44 AM

HP fighting was physical O_o (YAY I'M ON THE LIST!) naive/hasty maybe?(Add penguinpals ;O)

Eos Aduro November 4th, 2007 10:46 AM

I dids, forgots about him for a sec. And duh you;re on the list. And Entei, despite his attack ebing better, has almost 0 attacking moves, so hes a special sweeper.

Anti November 4th, 2007 1:33 PM

Don't forget the forum mod on the list :/

But yeah, Since I hate blissey...how's this?

Entei @ Leftovers / Leichi Berry / Salac Berry
Trait: Pressure
EVs: I need help here
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Rest / random attack
- Sleep Talk
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Fighting]

I was thinking I could switch into spore from breloom and not worry about carrying rest...but does this do? I tried to combine all the sets..

Dunsparce November 4th, 2007 1:44 PM

Wha? Where's Iron tail? It's, like, the best Physical Move Ever! And Entei is one of the lucky few Pokemon who have tails and thus can use it! I covers Rock and Ice types pretty well. :B

In all seriousness, you should get try to save up money to get a DS and D/P. It gets Stone Edge and the a Physical STAB move (Though you're better off going with the Stonger, special-based Fire moves instead)

Even then, Entei is a lackluster Legendary. Unlike its brethren, it still hasn't gotten much of an improvement in its attacking movepool.

The people that posted before me pretty much covered what it is capable of doing in the 3rd Gen :/

Eos Aduro November 4th, 2007 1:47 PM

NEVER USE STEEL ATTACKS EXCEPT FOR METEOR MASH ON METAGROSS! And Anti-Pop doesnt like fourth gen, so he doesnt need foruth gen. And no Iron Tail

That better be a joke...

The 4th gen metagame is the most boring one I've ever played in, so no.

Even then, Entei is a lackluster Legendary. Unlike its brethren, it still hasn't gotten much of an improvement in its attacking movepool.

But I use my favorite pokemon ;)

So does my set work? that's where I'm gettin' at here...

Now I have to vent about the 4th gen metagame for a sec. they made everythign so much easier in D/P. they made it more offense-based, so stall teams aren't common anymore. Just look at what they added: Trick room, stealth rock, gyro ball...where's the D? IMO, 3rd gen is by far the best competitive battling experience you can get.

EDIT: MW, I think he was kidding. and yeah, besides rating here at PC, I want NOTHING to do with 4th gen.

Dunsparce November 4th, 2007 1:52 PM

-__-;

I was being SARCASTIC.

Doesn't the Bucktooth emotiocon give it away? (THIS :B )

I'm sorry, I didn't realize you hated the fourth gen. The last thing I want to do is get on any of your bad sides. >.<;

I like using my favs, too. Ariados, Parasect, Kingler, ect.

Not at all :)

I was just pointing out my hatred of D/P. Wasn't in any way trying to express anger, my bad :)

It's okay :)

I understand that you like to use your favs, as do I. Why else would I name myself Dunsparce? XD

why four months? I joined in '05.

I believe your set works fine for ingame. At least HP Fighting is SE against Rock and hits Blissey hard.

HP Grass hits all 3 of its weaknesses, but, seeing your fear of Blissey, HP Fighting works well, seeing how it works off of Entei's impressive Attack stat and hits the pink blob for SE damage :)

this isn't for ingame :/ It's for Netbattle...

I DO fear blissey, as jirachi outstalls it, but it falls to EQ (and it often does) which leaves me susceptible to bliss loling at me, and the IB variant OHKO my CBmence. THAT'S why I like entei. Skarmbliss killer.

I see. Good Idea. I never saw any use for Entei before, but now a get the gist of what it can do.

I am one of the only standard RMTers here that plays 3rd gen rather than 4th.

Which is surprise attacking, since nobody knows anything about its movepool.

Aye, and Mignight Winged, you forgot to add Richard Steel to the list O_O

Eos Aduro November 4th, 2007 2:18 PM

I think Resttalk works fine! It looks all good to me. And he doesnt rate as miuch anymore, but I'll add him

He might be our best battler O_O

I hate resttalk to be honest, I like switching into sleep inducers and diahing out punishment. But whatever works. lol

Eos Aduro November 4th, 2007 2:23 PM

He is the champ of battle stadium around here. Maybe one day I'll not be such a wuss and battle him. And resttalks only problem is using rest when you;re asleep.
