WHY THE HECK DID YOU CHOICE SPECS THAT!

Yes, in theory, I choice specsed a Tauros. Dont laugh yet, although I give you full right to laugh.

Tauros-Choice Specs
EVs-252 Speed, 252 special attack'
Modest
Fire Blast
Ice Beam
Thunderbolt
Surf

Ok, I just noticed that it has a freakish movepool for special attacks, and full IVs and Evs and Choice Specs, it could have 294 special attack, not the best, but movepool and speed could fill in for it

wow, THAT'S novelty. Could work, but I don't think it's worth the effort to be honest. Would shock the skarm switch-ins though. lol

Eos Aduro November 4th, 2007 3:37 PM

It has 2 ways to bring it down. but still fire electric ice water, thats pretty diverse

Azonic November 4th, 2007 3:37 PM

A lot of Pokemon are like Tauros. They have a huge SAttack movepool and a poor SAttack stat.

Miltank for example.

So I wouldn't use Cspecs Tauros personally. It won't inflict much damage and many more pokemon can do FAR better than Special Sweeping Tauros can.

Starmie for instance, it learns three of Tauros's moves and has access to Rapid Spin. So CSpecs Tauros = Fail

Faceless* November 4th, 2007 3:40 PM

Lol, Choice Specs a Tauros?! XD 40 Base Sp.Attack, good luck with that one

Jordan November 4th, 2007 3:41 PM

Maybe it can 3 or 4HKO A Metagross with EV's in Sdefense, but Tauros doesn't have much defense and speed itself to hold a Specs set....then again, I have never tried a SpecsTauros.

Jordan.

P.S.: Hahahahhahahahahaha.

MegaDitto November 4th, 2007 3:42 PM

This can work but with a Ninjask with Petyta Berry and Tauros with Life Orb.

Tauros @ Life Orb
Nature:Modest
EV: 252 Sp Atk /124 Spd/124 HP
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Flamethrower
-Thunderbolt

I am not kidding....

Azonic November 4th, 2007 3:43 PM

But so many pokemon -coughstarmiecough- can do a CSpecs set so much better than Tauros.

I'd say save your Choice Specs for better cases.

EDIT: 90 Attack power + Life Orb @[email protected]

Eos Aduro November 4th, 2007 3:43 PM

Hmmm, never thought of that, Jask supposrt, its BRILLIANT!

Faceless* November 4th, 2007 3:47 PM

Lets see... Tauros's max sp.attack with Neutral Nature.. -

40 x 2 = 80
80 + 100 = 180
180 - 1 = 179

that's his max Sp.Attack, there's obviously much better uses than that

Eos Aduro November 4th, 2007 3:48 PM

Well if you want a suprise NU special sweeper, there ya go, a tauros

BRILLIANT, and I am not kidding either. With Speed and Special Attack Boost, maybe Tauros can go somewhere.

@ PenguinPal/Azonic: Choice Specs can be removed from a Pokemon and put on another, so technically, one Specs can support 100 different teams.

Jordan.

Eos Aduro November 4th, 2007 3:50 PM

especially with such a diverse movepool, he could be a pretty dang good threat

Faceless* November 4th, 2007 3:50 PM

Chatot, almost ALL Normal types have large movepools

Eos Aduro November 4th, 2007 3:52 PM

Yes, but fire blast thunderbolt ice beam surf with extra speed and special atack, that thing could wreak some suprise havoc.

Syaoran November 4th, 2007 4:00 PM

After 1 special attack firing the opponent will realize it's not the normal Taurus and will send a Blissey (or any other special wall).

Maybe they'll mistake you for a n00b who abuses special movepools and continue battling...

Yea, that is more likely to happen. XD

Shiraishi November 4th, 2007 7:01 PM

Tauros with Celebi support?(CMs)

Eos Aduro November 4th, 2007 7:05 PM

I think Jask support looks like our best option, but both could work if collborated, well maybe not.

That's a lot like Aggron... Aggron learns so many Special moves that would counter his worst enemies: Surf, Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Solarbeam, Flamethrower... it's truly a pity Gamefreak gave him such an awesome Special movepool, and a base 60 Special Attack.

I mean, surprise movesets like this and the Tauros could surprise someone, maybe even KO a Skarmory or Forretress... but once that happens, you become way too easily countered.

Samson November 4th, 2007 8:13 PM

i'm all for giving things with good movepools favorable items, but 40 base sp atk is just too low =/

i'd leave choice specs as an option to at least 60-65 base sp atk. from then on, it's really not worth it and easily avoided/walled.

however, you could go with a mixed life orb tauros (rash nature). blissey comes in and gets a STAB return in the pooper. i see novelty in that.

ThePlaya November 4th, 2007 11:05 PM

hey, your trying to pull something that people would think is crazy too.
Its just like when i was trying to pull of a Starmie to be a wall.Havn't done much testing on it since i havn't been battling much lately. It has work pretty good in the 3-4 battles that ive had before.;)
What I do is when someone throws in a Salamence(he fears starmie)(or something else that fears Starmie)I would put in Starmie and they will ALWAYS switch out expecting me to attack them. But me knowing that they are thinking im going to attack I dont(but they switch out) and i just use a cosmic power to give me the defensive boost. And I just keep using it and when i need some HP back i just use recover and im back in business. Then i start attacking and recovering when i need to.
Anyways back on topic. This might work but im not really sure it will. Its Sp.Attack can only go up too 196 and even with choice specs i dont think it will still be too high enough to be a real threat(although it will suprise a skarmory). But if you do go ahead and use it for online battling then good luck with that.
But why did the pokemon creators give the normal typed pokes and some other pokes with very low Sp.Attack but with one of the best movepools.

kohei November 4th, 2007 11:28 PM

This thread is practically made for the Nido family.

That is all.

Alter Ego November 5th, 2007 9:36 AM

Meh, CS = So not worth it. Ice Beam as tech to hit Garchomp or Mence or Fire Blast for Forry and Skarm coupled with Life Orb might pay off, but you should supplement that with Return and Quake to let Tauros do what Tauros does best. =O But yeah, the Nidos are a lot better for this sort of thing. Surf is not worth it on Tauros anyway and you won't fool your opponent twice with this kind of shenaningans. O=
