RDing Omaster and Kingdra with SwiftSwim+Ludicolo

I remembered reading somewhere in one of Frosty's posts saying that Omastar could be twice as strong as Kingdra when RDing. So naturally, I replaced Kingdra with an Omastar. Not sure if the moveset is good enough but whatever...

I'm only using one of these.

Omastar[+Sp.Atk./-Atk]@Lum Berry
252 Speed, 129 Sp. Atk, 129 Sp. Def
Rain Dance
Spikes
Surf
Ice Beam

Without the Speed EVs, it's sped is nly about 386 in the rain, even with a personality giving it an extra 20 points of speed or so.

KingdrA[+sP.aTK/-ATK]@lEFTOVERS
EVs: 252 Sp. Atk, 129 Speed, 129 Sp. Def
Ice Beam
Dragonbreath
Rain Dance
Hydro Pump

Eh, should be self-explanatory.

sO WHICH ONE? Freaking caps lock.

Also I need a moveset for Ludicolo. This is what I ahve so far.

[email protected][+Defense/-Attack](Annoyer??)
EVs: 252 HP. 129 Defense, 129 Sp. Def
Giga Drain
Leech Seed
Toxic
HP Fire
{Rain Dish}

I had no idea what to use for the last move so I just used HP Fire.

i dont know about omastar and kingdra(for that u have to ask frosty) but i gave my ludicolo:
sp.def+/atk-
*rain dish
mega drain
rain dance
leech seed
dive

it turned out very powerful and can stall longer with leftovers.
if ur gonna have another pkmn summon rain then replace ludicolos rain dance for probably toxic.

I'd say go with the kingdra man! Just my opinion though.

Frostweaver June 26th, 2004 2:19 PM

Omastar- [sp.atk + / atk -] @ lum berry
EV: dump as much EV in Speed to be right on 200, all on sp.atk, rest on def/hp
-hydro pump
-rain dance
-HP electric/grass
-ice beam

With this setup, Omastar is slower than Kingdra (but doesn't matter as only Ninjask, Deoxys and electrode is faster than something with speed 400) BUT it has 50 point higher sp.atk! Defense is also very high and doesn't need that much EVs to make it reach the 290+. I know what I'm getting ;p

Ludicolo- [def. sp.atk or sp.def + / atk -] @ leftovers
EV: anything but attack
-surf
-ice beam
-leech seed
-protect

-if swift swim is used, speed should be on the magic number of 200 once again
-if rain dish is used, ditch all speed

This set doesn't give the opponent enough time to buff up, as it has good offensive power too with surf and rain dance. Ice beam can kill aerial ace users *coughSalamencecough.* Really most Ludicolo is defensive enough that it doesn't even need the rain dance to be annoying. The rain dance is just a bonus.

According to my Porygon2's trace on Netbattle, there are more swift swimmers than rain dishers.

stewie&rupert June 26th, 2004 3:05 PM

ludicolo is the ONLY rain disher so far.

Simon June 26th, 2004 3:10 PM

Ludi and it's pre-evolution forms anyways.

I'm gonna go with stewie's moveset. It seems more annoying.

Pokedragonfire June 26th, 2004 4:06 PM

If you used PP max(ups), maybe you could go with a giga drain instead of mega drain :P But if you don't have the PPmax(ups), use Mega Drain :P

Frostweaver June 26th, 2004 4:12 PM

If drain is to be used, always giga drain, even if it's just 5 PP. 40 power is just pathetic... probably can't even OHKO a Quagsire with such low power.

It's not like you're going to be using the drains continously... you also got dive. Use giga drian only to help healing/OHKOs.

Of course I'll be using GD over MD. Besides, I still wouldn't know how good these 2 are for another 500 minutes. I got banned from NB for purposely swearing at a mod. Heh.

Frostweaver June 26th, 2004 4:46 PM

O.o; banned on NB? You can get banned? *didn't know that* And furthermore, the mods are not in away mode? *surprised as he's never seen a mod alive on NB*

Lol... I said less than 100 word in the last months I played on NB... all I say is "gg" at the end of battle and that's all. Maybe it's a good indication that you should just quit swearing in all ^_^

I prefer this move set on Ludicolo:

Ludicolo @ Leftovers (Rain Dish) {HP+110 PhDf+200 SpDf+200} [PhDf+ PhAt-]
- Seismic Toss
- Leech Seed
- Double Team
- Rain Dance

Simon June 27th, 2004 10:44 AM

Yeah...I'm going to stick with Kingdra instead. Everyone seems to have a Ludicolo on their team and Omastar keeps getting OHKOed by Giga Drain with it's 4x weakness to grass. And is Mirror Move bugged on NB? I just played Challenge Cup and a Hoothoot used Mirror Move (it was Psychic) but no one ever used Psychic in the entire battle.

Mew9 June 27th, 2004 10:54 AM

if u already have some1 who can take care of dragons, go w/ Omnastar. If not, stick w/ Kingdra, cause he is VERY annoying to deal w/, being water/dragon. yeah, mirror move seems to be bugged for me, too. i used it and it used splash 5 BLANKIN times!!!!!!!! I lost and got rid of it quickly (no1 even used splash (of course)).

Frostweaver June 27th, 2004 12:09 PM

go report in the NB forum that Mirror Move is bugged not me... ^^;;; Or tell Mana Lugia that if he ever comes on.

Personally, Omastar is still far superior in my opinion... plus why the heck are you using Omastar against something with grass attack to begin with? If you can't OHKO in one hit for Omastar, switch out.
