A Kingdra of Mine.... ?_?

Well, after just now seeing a recent thread on Kingdra, I made a set that I think looks ok. Made up in about 2 mins, so not much thought, so wondering on what others think.

[email protected] Rock
Adamant
Swift Swim
16 Speed, 252 Atk, 242 HP

Waterfall
Rain Dance
Dragon Dance
Substitute

I just came up with this, so unsure on true capabilities and flaws.

Looks fine although you might want to replace Damp Rock with Life Orb or Leftovers and Rain Dance for Return so Water and Grass types won't Lol at you. I'd personally go with that and get some external Rain Dance support. It's not like anyone is going to give Kingdra time to set up Rain Dance, Dragon Dance and a Substitute. It's going to be Roared away long before it gets to do anything.

[email protected] Orb
Lonely nature
54 HP / 196 ATT / 244 SP.ATT / 16 SPEED
- Waterfall
- Hydro pump / Surf / Hidden power Electric
- Dragon Pulse / Draco Meteor
- Rain Dance

This 2HKOS Blissey with Waterfall in Rain, it also only needs 16 speed Evs to become the fastest non-uber in rain, however like Smarties said you may want external Rain Dance Support.

Is this for full physical/special/mixed sweeping?

Azonic November 11th, 2007 6:38 AM

Kingdra

- Surf / Waterfall
- Icebeam
- Hidden Power [ELECTRIC]
- Rain Dance

Kingdra

- Waterfall
- Draco Meteor
- Rain Dance
- Substitute

Kingdra doesn't need Rain Dance and Dragon Dance. Rain Dance already heightens your speed enough.

I think dragon dance is for attack, Penguin. Wow, any water absorber walls this to oblivion. I'd say too many things wall it to really be worth anything. IMO at least.

Novelty
[email protected] Specs
Modest/Timid
have Sniper unless you have weather support.
Surf/Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Dragon Pulse/Draco Meteor
Luster Cannon/Signal Beam/HP Electric

or

[email protected]
Adamant/Jolly
Rain Dance
Waterfall
Return
Draco Meteor

Standards work better than these, though.

yes, I thought how stupid it was straight away. lol :)

External Rain Dance and perhaps what physical then?

Well, you've got Substitute, why not Flail? I think it's doable, and it keeps you from getting walled by the regular waters. Empoleon would be the only thing that could wall this if you went with Flail. After all those DDs, you'd probably have no need for the rain support anymore. Just try not to get P/Hazed, mkay?

Ársa November 12th, 2007 2:45 AM

Hmmm, interesting. Ditch Rain Dance for Flail? Perhaps if I could ensure the amount of damage from the substitute, but to get it within range of low without killing it would mean an attack from an opponent, and Kingdra may not be able to take it...

Very nice thought though. Haven't seen many Empoleon in Comp. anyway. :)

It's like this... Sub up, Dragon Dance, and if the sub breaks, make another one, Dragon Dance, rinse and repeat. Hopefully by the time you're unable to make any more Substitutes (you'd probably be able to make 5, including HP bonus from Leftovers), you'd have buffed enough for Flail and Waterfall to hurt lots. But P/Hazing remains a problem.

If your going to use that set i suggest you equip it with a Liechi Berry so you can sub down and activate to to make Flail, well not FAIL XD

Samson November 12th, 2007 12:09 PM

actually, your set isn't so bad mullac. it just needs return. waterfall + return have good coverage.

Syaoran November 12th, 2007 12:31 PM

My sub+DD set used to rip teams apart, and it was quite funny. Although generally he isn't that good coz each of the techniques you'd use on Kindgra is used better on different pokes. =\
I guess the only big advantage he has is Swift Swim (or Sniper if you're really into relying on luck! eww), so the 2nd set Dunsprace posted is quite good on him.

Anti November 12th, 2007 12:34 PM

I actually agree with Samson on this. Waterfall and Return have good coverage, so Kingdra would benefit from it. Flail is pretty bad, honestly. Sandstream...X_x
