Gender?

Hi all, just wondering, does gender actually affect a poke in any way at all?
Thanx :)

The only way that a Gender affects a Pokémon is it it needs to be a certain Gender to evolve to a certain Pokémon. Other than that, no.

No. And there's the Simple Q&A Thread for this. http://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=97470

I asked this question before too...my friends told me that they heard that males have better attack and grow faster and females have better defense. Course, their source also told them you could breed minun and plusle to get a minusle!!!Lol!

You belived them? O_o

And that is only the case with nidoking and nidoqueen. Growth relies on something totally different.

EDIT: the nido example howver, has nothing to do with gender, just the base stats.

Gender has no effect on the pokemon in base stats, IVs, EVs, or Natures.

Though the only case where gender has effect is in the move Attract, breeding, or Rivalry

Don't forget Cute Charm and Captivate. ;)

Though very few battlers have any care for the gender of the Pokemon that they use competetively, it can become a good strategy to put a Gender-oriented attack or trait on a Pokemon. An example would be to have Captivate on Miltank. Since Miltank is always female, and the default gender of a Pokemon in NetBattle or ShoddyBattle is male, it would make for a fine novelty move, and to allow her some mixed-walling capability.

yeah but miltank has better things to do like paralyzing special attackers rather almost getting KOd trying to reduce their sp atk, something you can't gaurantee when pokes like milotic (female a majority of the time) and starmie (no gender) have no fear over what miltank tries to do to them.

That was when I was like 8 years old!!! I knew basically nothing about pokemon. And, the boy/girl different source also believed in the easter bunny, Santa and the guy on the Lucky Charms box!!!!
