I don't get it...

Why are choice bands and scarves so good? They only allow one type of move....what does that really mean?

Because you have all Attacking Moves, unless you want to be stuck into using Defensive moves all day. :/ And Choice Bands extremely, with Physical Attack EV's, Iv's, and a Adamant Nature, increase the Physical Attack of Pokes. Obviously you'd want to be using this on something like Salamence. Choice Scarf, however, can make the difference. Outaspeeding is something you want to do. This is also on Physical Sweepers, but it can also be used on Special Sweepers. For a explanation of Sweepers, and all the other Roles, go here.

What it means, is during the time the pokemon is on the field, til the time you return it to your pokeball (or switch it out) it can only use the one move

Choice Band increases the Attack by 1.5
Choice Scarf increases the Speed by 1.5
Choice Specs increases the Sp Attack by 1.5

Eg, CBCross uses Close Combat on Tyranitar (don't ask why someone would keep Ttar in against Heracross, it's an example)
Tyranitar faints
Foe sent out Gengar (Immune to Close Combat)
Heracross has Night Slash/Pursuit in his movepool, but can't use it just yet because of the CB
Heracross switches out
Gengar puts pokemon to sleep with Hypnosis
Heracross switches in
Gengar hits Heracross with Focus Blast, minimal damage
Gengar tries to switch, but CBCross hits hit with a Pursuit, Gengar faints!

Don't know how much of that was necessary, but whatever

BTW, if it's a CBCross w/ pursuit, it wouldn't be incline to hit Gengar because it's slower =/

Choice Band / Choice Specs - They let the attacker inflict the most damage possible. A sweeper pokemon most likely will not be on the field for long. So the 1 move thing isn't really important. And if you choose your moves wisely, then you'll find yourself in luck. Also, they let the user OHKO pokemon that they normally couldn't without the Band/Specs.

Choice Scarfs - are used for somewhat slower pokemon with a Speed stat of around 80 - 95 ish. They normally couldn't take a hit and would be proven almost useless without a great Speed Boost. Choice Scarf does just the thing.
