I have a rather strange question

OK, this is about Serebii's Pokemon of the Week:

Why does Serebii consider Marowak fast enough to sweep, but it doesn't let slightly faster Pokemon Sweep? I mean, it says that Kingler is too slow to Sweep, with a Base Speed of 75 (which is actually quite high), but it claims Marowak (Base Speed 45) to be OK to Sweep with! You may find me dumb, but it just confuses me.

perhaps its considering Rock Polish in the mix.

if not that, then if you follow the definition of "sweep", you have to regard that kingler has to constantly switch out with a choice item while marowak has an item that doubles its attack and gives it options.

No, it's not you, it's them.

With Jolly nature and max EV's in speed, Marowak can outrun all base 90 speed pokemon that don't have any Speed EV's.
Why would ANYTHING with 90 Base Speed NOT have Speed EVs?

EDIT: And Marowak doesn't get Rock Polish. =(

W/o speed, a doubled attack is useless. If I used Marowak (which I don't), then i would probably use it as a tank, like rhyperior, tyranitar, etc.

Samson November 14th, 2007 9:31 PM

oh no rock polish i suppose =/

he would be pretty broken with it XD... wait, they gave rampardos rock polish too. i don't see the correlation here...

anywho, yes, he's a nice tank, but he's very manageable as an attacker with substitute.

yeah, itll never be a speedy sweeper tho.......

EDIT: UNLESS u give it.....*checks serebii*........nah, theres no speed boosting move

There's an annoying fly named Ninjask, who can magically turn any poke into a sweeper. Does Yanmega have Baton Pass? Then it can work too.

I know! Being able to pummel strong physical walls is horrible! [/sarcasm] It has great base defense, and almost nothing can safely switch into it, speed or no speed.

That's the point...

And it's called jaskwak. Very big threat. Its mega attack is horribly tough to take, so marowak can sweep, just not in the sense you'd think. Though that example from serebii was just...lol. speed to sweep, lol

But again, jaskwak...

OH YEAH......with BPing, Marowak would work excellently.

BTW, I think Scyther and Scizor can BP Agility as well

I think u read it worng it says marawak+thick club can do massive damage to ANYTHING (well exept skarm) not necesarily sweeping but hitting switch-ins hard

Anti November 15th, 2007 2:59 PM

No, marowak even hits skarm with some pretty rough damage.

really? wow, BIGGER WOW i did the calculations and if wak could land a focus punch on skarm w/ its thick club it would do..

beetween 44%-52% of skarms health when a fire punch would do...

44.91%-52.69% a little bit more than focus punch..... man that poke packs a powerful punch

Azonic November 15th, 2007 3:46 PM

Probably its only on Trick Room teams or the really scary JaskWak (I like to whack ninjasks 8D )

Hammering it with that on the switch REALLY hurts...and most skarmorys don't run max def, but a tad less.
