what is the best steel pokemon and dragon pokemon so far?

just curious it is annoying me to find a good one please help!

Nacon November 19th, 2007 10:27 AM

that is a very broad question, man.

Steel, I think, works better for tank type pokemon, and I don't really care too much about Steel Type moves.
But....
Lucario makes a great mixed sweeper
Scizor makes a great physical sweeper and baton passer
Empoleon can be marketed as a tank in battles...
Skarmory is an amazing physical wall!

as for Dragons, well, despite falling under the whole Bolt\Beam range of weaknesses....
Garchomps are vicious
Kingdras work really good in Rain-weather
Charizard and Gyrados work great as pseudo-dragons...
the dragons are really tough pokes, the only one I don't really like is Swablu.

rkevinc1 November 19th, 2007 10:35 AM

yeah well altaria is UU anyway

wow... I totally forgot to mention 'gross

'gross is a very tough and vicious pokemon... a force to reckon with.

El Gofre November 19th, 2007 11:42 AM

Go metagross! :D i like Kingdra for the dragons

airconditioning November 19th, 2007 3:39 PM

Okay, seriously. Post this in Strategies and Movesets.

Anyway, there is no 'best'. That's way too broad of a question. It really depends on what your team has, and what it needs.

Shiny Umbreon November 19th, 2007 3:41 PM

This goes in Strategies & Movesets.

-MOVED-

ultranerd57 November 19th, 2007 3:44 PM

Skarm for tank/pseudo hazing.

J-Rad November 19th, 2007 3:51 PM

nite is my fav dragon and is just awesoem bulky so it can take hits, and have u seen its attack!! its base is huge, one of the top 15 best bases why the y gave mence 1 more base point i'll never know

GeneralGuy November 19th, 2007 3:52 PM

Steelix because 548 max defense.

Who really cares about his Sp. Def? Anyways, I personally think Steelix would be great one as mentioned before. As well as Metagross.

I never said it was bad just be cautios when you use it.

flamehaze94 November 19th, 2007 4:25 PM

I'm suprised nobody said Heatran, it's pretty versatile.

As for dragons, Salamence is the most unpredictable and versatile.

J-Rad November 19th, 2007 4:30 PM

yeah specsmence is my 2nd fav dragon........

Anti November 19th, 2007 6:32 PM

Okay...for the record, special defense on a physical wall isn't all too impotant, though it can help deal with evil mixed idiots. Um, wall wise:

1) Skarm
2) Gross
3) Bronzong
4) Forry
5) Steelix

As much as I love the iron snake, the other 4 are better. and keep in mind steelix is my 3rd favorite pokemon...the steel attackers have been mentioned.

BTW, Skarm is NOT a tank...;)

Dragons? Much easier. The best DDer is Nite. Otherwsie, Mence about dominates this one. Unpredictable, intimidate, brutal attacker, dreamy...

Though kingdra is a nice one as well ;) GO KINGDRA!

Dialga ;)

Steel-Wise:

Metagross, makes a nice Speed Attacker. One Agility, paired with 400+ Attack makes him a nightmare.
Bronzong, Skarmory, Forretress, Steelix, all make good defensive walls. Registeel is a pretty unique dual wall.

Dragon-Wise:

Garchomp. Makes a nasty Choice Scarf Attacker.
Then there's Salamence and Dragonite, which are good Dragon Dance abusers. Kingdra, as well as Salamence, make fine Special Attackers.

i was just about to say that...

my favorites salamence, so many ways to use him that it's almost impossible for the opponent to predict him

rkevinc1 November 20th, 2007 10:00 AM

is registeel an uber? because im not that sure...

Registeel IS NOT Uber. And it will never be. According to Bulbapedia. It's BL.

rkevinc1 November 20th, 2007 12:13 PM

good then ill probably use him or 'gross for steel... not sure 'bout dragon

SnowFall November 20th, 2007 12:19 PM

There isn't really a BEST...

For steel I'd go with one of these:
Metagross - Physical Attack/Sweeper
Skarmory - Awesome Physical Wall
Steelix - Great Tank/Wall thing (great in Sandstorm)
Scizor - Baton Passer/Physical Sweeper

For dragon, again, I'd go with one of these:
Garchomp - Just amazing. Physical Sweeper
Kingdra - Either Sweeper/Rain Dancer
Dragonite - Mixed Sweeping ability

These are all in my opinion...

But, I take a look at a few threads every so often and I see these thrown around alot these days...

Steel
Skarmory
Metagross
Dragon
Garchomp
Dragonite
Salamence

ultranerd57 November 20th, 2007 1:12 PM

Hmm no ones mentioned Aggron is it that terrible?

Fighting or ground attacks will destroy it with x4 damage.

airconditioning November 20th, 2007 1:18 PM

Yes. 4x weakness to Ground and Fighting, two of the most common attacking types, is not good for a physical tank.

hahah yes its terrible 4x weak to EQis a bad ting..

El Gofre November 20th, 2007 1:19 PM

aggron looks like he's wearin a hat lol. doesnt make a bad tank tho

Anti November 20th, 2007 1:20 PM

Yeah...aggron is kind of fail-ish to be honest.

And I for one believe garchomp is WAY overrated and is far outclassed by Mence...

Finally someone who shares my opinion.

Azonic November 20th, 2007 7:28 PM

There is no "best" pokemon in anything. All pokemon have their unique traits, one pokemon may surpass in one area while another pokemon surpasses in the other.

STEEL

| Forretress | Steelix | Skarmory | Heatran | Metagross | Scizor | Registeel |

Forretress - Makes a fantastic Physical Wall with that enormous Defense Stat. However, its x4 weakness to Fire limits its usage. Though it gains access to two important key moves - Rapid Spin and Spikes
Steelix - Has a skyrocketing Defense stat with a somewhat decent HP stat. It is one of the best physical walls around, though it is still weak to Earthquake - a major drawback
Skarmory - Is a great Physical Wall due to the huge Defense stat and the numerous resistances it gains. It also sets up Spikes and shuffles the team around. It gains an immunity to Ground and escapes Spikes and SR.
Heatran - is probably not the best Steel since it has a x4 weakness to Ground. Earthquake being one of the most popular moves on a physical sweeper. However it is still pretty versatile
Metagross - Is amazing at Sweeping while still being able to defend, although it requires one turn to set up and risks PHazers.
Scizor - is a good Baton Passer. However, Ninjask would accomplish this task much more thoroughly than Scizor.
Registeel - Is an extremely good dual wall, though it has numerous weaknesses to very common types. Its defenses are skyrocketing at 150 base, along with a decent HP stat that can certainly be frightening.

DRAGON

| Salamence | Dragonite | Garchomp |

Salamence - is quite unpredictable and gets through most pokemon since you never know if its going to be SpecsMence or PhysicalMence. Its coverage and movepool is quite large too, though its speed stat could use some work
Dragonite - can stand probably at the most of one Icebeam with the help of Yache Berry with its SDefense. Though it needs one turn to set of Dragon Dance, after that, it outruns and destroys most pokemon
Garchomp - Outruns Salamence and strikes with Dragon Claw and with the help of SR, its an OHKO. It's quite diverse and destroys the SkarmBliss.

Anti November 20th, 2007 7:33 PM

Um registeel is NOT very scary, just to point that out...and I'd disagree about Forry-its fire weak doesn't limit its ability, not like steelix's EQ weak does. Forry can't take any special hit, so I personally don't think it makes a difference. and I'd also disagree about Ninjask being a better BPer than scizor (I have my reasons ;))

But I always disagree, you have it right mostly anyways...and yeah, everythinf has its strengths and weaknesses-CB bliss proves that.

BTW, physical mence is 90% of the time, probably more like 100% of the time refering to darling CBmecne <3

Arsibiyez November 21st, 2007 1:41 AM

Mawile wasn't mentioned at all... Boo...

Fake Tears, Iron Defense, Baton Pass. <3

acid November 21st, 2007 3:35 AM

i love gross and scizor but i cant choose between them witch is betta ????

Arsibiyez November 21st, 2007 3:37 AM

Scizor bows down to Gross. When they work together, though, they wreak havoc.

They Do??? They should never be on the same team at all.

Anyway i think the best steel type is probably Between metagross and lucario.

Well, there are physical fire moves like Electivire's Fire Punch, Garchomp's Fire Fang, Infernapes Flare Blitz, and Lucario's Blaze Kick.

ChrisG14 November 21st, 2007 7:58 AM

And no one likes Kingdra because...

I like Kingdra better than the overrated dragons Chompy and Ceaser Saladmence. It doesn't fall prey to that 4x Ice weakness and in Rain, it can roll with the big boys. Dragonite's a favorite too, mainly because he can SubPunch, but is outclassed by Salad and Chompy.

rkevinc1 December 3rd, 2007 8:45 AM

ive gone with 'gross and 'mence...... anyone think that is OK?
