RMT...oh the enthusiasm!
Okay, listen up. Last thread didn't go so well. Before posting something, I'd like a bit of research, meaning "You should choice specs that Zam!" in which case I will say (and probably not calmly), "Way to NOT read the first post."
So keep annoying comments about what pokemon I use and all that crap out of this thread and give me a REAL rate. Since I still haven't gotten one. And um, take the time to read through everything. A smost of you know, my temper is terrible and I'm not one for posts that have no relevance or are just useless.and my god, 3rd gen rates only. Anything 4th gen and I'll probably get ticked off. Sorry I'm such A grouch all the time, but yeah...and there is a method to the madness, meaning there is a reason for every last move, nature, and EV put on every single pokemon. I put a lot of thought into this team, so I expect the same from everybody else. Now that I'm finished venting about stuff you probably don't care about (can't say I blame you), I'll ge to the meat of this. Now, I'll copy and paste my original thread: Okay, my test team I posted wasn't working so well, in fact, horribly. So I started from scratch. Yeah, THIRD GENRATION, 'K? I'm open to all suggestions, though I usually disagree, I will consider everything. No hyper beam suggestions though ;) And PLEASE no 4th gen rates. VERY annoying. And no fixing something that isn't broken. I'm well aware of all standard sets, I'm probably choosing not to use them. feel free to bring it up though, as I might have looked over something. now then: The strategy of this team is pretty simple-I want to get blissey or whatever the opposing special wall is out of the way. That way Zam can sweep like crazy. If that wouldn't work for whatever reasons (perhaps the opposing pokemon) I'll do the opposite-destroy the physical wall and then have Aero Outsweep everything. My team abuses rest and celebi keeps on heal belling the sleep away. If heracross shows up (yeah, I'm hera weak), I'll normally throw in forry to take the hit...since they're almost always CBed, I can react accordingly. there is a method to the CM madness. It's basically to wear down the special wall with CM boosted hammer shots and eventually eliminate them (stall war alert). Once that is accomplished, it's a near guarenteed win. It isn't easy to pull off. Since both of my sweepers are oh so fragile, I generally have to predict well and I'll usually win (always if it weren't for hax), but prediction isn't always easy, yes? If you really think Cune is redundant, please do offer a decent replacement, one that isn't weak to heracross and doesn't add to any weaks that could form. and make sure it can PHaze. IF you can find that, I'll probably replace Cune, no matter how much I love it :( Oh, here's an edit...if I can't manage to set up a late-game sweep, I'll try to stall away the competition. this means annoying the crap out of the walls (probably sacrificing my sweeping power in the process) and destroying the crap out of them. Not always easy though. Usually I like to eliminate anything that resists HP grass from celebi and try to sweep using that. IF that doesn't work, I'm probably in no position to win ;) though my last gasp at hope is pulling a surprise 'counter' from forretress to eliminate nasty physical sweepers. which actually saved me once. but yeah. The Team: ("The Hax Abusers" being the team name...) Aerodactyl (F) @ Choice Band ** Aero Trait: Rock Head EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk) - Double-Edge - Earthquake - Hidden Power [Flying] - Rock Slide CB Aero rocks. Er, yeah...physical sweeper. It is oh so fun to watch pokemon switch-in and get a surprise OHKO from this monster. why dopeople let me do that? Ask them...but lol, I love this thing. Alakazam (M) @ Leftovers ** Zam Trait: Synchronize EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Fire Punch - Psychic - Sleep Talk It's so fun to switch into gengar and watch me sleep talk the idiot with psychic. and CMing up aimlessly isn't half bad either. And no, I'm not taking off sleep talk (unless you maybe give me a GOOD reason to, though nobody ever does). Celebi @ Leftovers ** 'Bi 'Bi Gun Trait: Natural Cure EVs: 240 HP / 120 Def / 148 Spd Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Heal Bell - Hidden Power [Grass] - Recover I love the nickname. My beller and a happy-happy tank. HP Grass is random, I know. Though it has come in handy actually. Andheal belling to abuse rest is oh so fun! Suicune @ Leftovers ** Cune Trait: Pressure EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 SDef Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk) - Calm Mind - Rest - Roar - Surf Give me a redundancy alert, but having 2 special tanks is better than one ;) PHazes stuff. and no ice beam suggestions, I hate it on CMcune for some reason. I would like to replace it for possibly a solid counter for the likes of TTar, perhaps roarpert. Forretress (M) @ Leftovers ** Forry Trait: Sturdy EVs: 252 HP / 60 Atk / 196 Def Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Counter - Earthquake - Rapid Spin - Rest Physical wall and spinner. Counter it to tick off Heracross when it thinks it can attack me. Then I can rest and do it again. OMG, I love this guy. And more OMGs, it isn't skarm! WIN! Snorlax (M) @ Leftovers ** Lax Trait: Thick Fat EVs: 160 HP / 72 Atk / 136 Def / 140 SDef Careful Nature (+SDef, -SAtk) - Body Slam - Curse - Rest - Shadow Ball Curselax. I wish I could use CBlax, but I'm in dire need of a special wall that can heal ;) OMG, love to actually use something NOT named blissey or hypno. |
People told you to Choice Specs Item that Zam with Calm Mind? My goodness...
I think I already said this before, Giga Drain or HP Fire for Celebi. Please don't kill me... Suicune needs something else... HP Electric, probably. Not sure what to remove, though. I'm thinking Roar, but I'm afraid of being strangled. Sleep Talk on Zam is... brilliant! Though I imagine you might need Wish support. ._. And the complete randomness of it requires a lot of luck on your part. If you STalk twice and it doesn't come out Psychic, you know the rest... |
Actually, the randomness (though it all has reason) is more to help me become better and also surprising my unexpecting foe ;) Oh wait, about sleep talk...yeah, it probably will, but it'll be oh so fun to sleep talk in gengar's face, no matter what it uses ;)
NOT replacing roar, sorry, but it comes in handy more than any other move on suicune for me :0 Gyarados can't really hurt me (this is kinda-ish about HP electric) as long as aero is around. CBed STABed rock slide = ouch for the poor little thing. My beef with HP fire on 'Bi is that oh so many things wall me, even with calm mind. Bulky waters, TTar, you name it...dragons...and as for gigia drain, it doesn't need the self recovery with recover. And I also need it to have lots of PP where giga drain falls short. I was thinking HP Ice for celebi actually...walled by bulky waters, yes, so I'm a bit confizzled. lol But thanks...those kind of posts are actually oh so helpful, makes me think about what's wrong with my sets...so thanks. |
You mean this, Anti? Well, I don't see any weaknesses. o_o Except I would HP [Fire] for greater Coverage.
|
On what? If you mean celebi, HP Fire has terrible coverage. Bulky waters, TTar, dragons...just about everything beats it. Oh, did I mention flash fire? Heck, I'd rather run Psychic :/
|
Because I'm such a fan of yours, Anti, I decided to double back on this thread.
(I'm an idiot for not seeing Recover on your Celebi, btw... [/selfslap]) So, yeah. There aren't any glaring weaknesses. But oh, beware your Zam and 'Bi. This will get you: Dugtrio @ Salac Berry Trait: Arena Trap Jolly Nature (252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 Def) - Hidden Power [Bug] - Endure - Earthquake - Sludge Bomb Yes, I have seen this done. It OHKOs Alakazam after enduring an Ice Punch to the face. 'Bi obviously is double weak to Bug. Though this isn't as commonly seen in 3rd gen, it still looks like something you should look out for. |
Interesting idea, Sleep Talk on Zam. Although personally I think he's too frail to pull it off, especially if you pull out a move you may desperately need (like the aforementioned Psychic on Gengar). Mind you Zam does have some speed behind it. Definitely a surprise factor though
|
Dugtrio and Alakazam both have 120 base speed. A Salac boost is all Duggy needs to outspeed Zam if both have 31 Spd IVs, full Spd EVs, and a Spd-boosting nature. Think of it as "Infinity vs. Infinity +1". It's a stupid example, but you should get it.
By the way, Toothache, I never got a chance to thank you for making that "How to Write an RMT" thread. Anything that becomes a sticky deserves a thanks. Kudos to you! =] |
Nobody really runs salac on it, but more something like CB. Even if it's activated and the speed kills Zam or maybe Aero, only a really frail pokemon can be OHKOed by something with 80 base attack...and dugtrio usually runs adamant. But it is /THE/ best finisher in the game, easily.
Yes, sleep talk is for a lovely surprise factor. I mean, gengar probably can't OHKO with Tbolt, I'd have to run some calcs on that. And I need a replacement for suicune...that is really, well...redundant, and it has showed in battles I've had. I'd like something with more "Bang." I was thinking of roarpert...thoguh I could use some help on this one. |
