Welcome to the club .Rebirth.! You didn't need to answer all of those questions. Just a few would have been okay. The ones you didn't answer, you can answer them if figured it out. But anyway welcome. ^^ I like your answers so far.

Gazza February 6th, 2010 4:03 AM

i know but i was bored lol

so what's the topic at the moment?

Lucy Lu February 6th, 2010 12:43 PM

Oh okay, good reason to answer most of those questions. XD Well right now there isn't a topic. But I think I have one I thought up.

How do you watch anime? (i.e. On tv, DVD, Internet)

Gazza February 6th, 2010 4:39 PM

with ma eyez i watch it through the internet.

my anime list is in my signature it's kinda short but it will be larger soon.

(b'3')b

Lucy Lu February 6th, 2010 5:05 PM

Well that is cool. I watch anime by DVD, Internet, and TV. I watch it by using all three. But lately I been watching it from TV only.

That is a good list you got. Oh man I don't know about Elfen Lied. >>; That is too scary. I don't like horror anime.

Gazza February 6th, 2010 5:26 PM

elfen lied aint scary and it's more ecchi action than horror.

any recommendations?

Lucy Lu February 6th, 2010 5:39 PM

Are you into romance anime? If you are I recommend watching Lovely Complex and Kare Kano. Those are really good. And if you like shoujo watch Sailor Moon and Fruits Basket. Those are pretty good. ^^ I got others too, but so far that is all I can think of.

MegaSlowBro. February 6th, 2010 5:44 PM

*joins*

Hmm....I'll answer the fanservice question:
Personally, I like fanservice =) it really brings out the personality of the anime and makes you remember stuff about it. However, I always thought this: Are some animes based soley on fanfiction?
I've been watching anime since I was in 6th grade, and I still don't know how to answer that question ^^; I think some of it is...

Satoshi Ookami February 7th, 2010 12:12 AM

As for me I watch anime in TV (dubbed ones) or I download it (subbed ones).

Ayano Katagiri February 8th, 2010 2:04 PM

Myself; Yourself is a good romance-y/slice-of-life anime too, though I still don't get why people say it's similar to School Days.

I think you meant fanservice instead of fanfiction in that question. xD

There's too much fanservice these days imo. So many anime that are alike and based entirely on moe/fanservice through a few characters. There was a report recently from one of the animation studios that pretty much said that they could sell anything so long as it was moe or mecha 2-3 years ago.

Gazza February 8th, 2010 2:11 PM

I'd recommend 5CM per second for anyone into romance anime
it' a great movie and i thoroughly enjoyed it.

I'm currently watching Higurashi

Ayano Katagiri February 8th, 2010 2:21 PM

Higurashi is so weird.. I'm watching that right now too. Even though everyone says it's better than Umineko, I still enjoyed Umineko more.

Jordan February 8th, 2010 2:36 PM

SinceI watch a bit of anime as I've recently discovered, I think I'll join this here kurabu. o3o;

What genres do you like/dislike?
Back in my younger days (random person: You're 16, you're still a kid!), I liked shounen action anime quite a bit. Nowadays, I just prefer relaxing slice-of-life series, particularly of the seinen kind.
What anime do you recommend the most to others?
Probably Clannad and its second season, ~After Story~. I think it has a bit of everything for everybody. It has comedy that never gets old, drama that brought me to tears, moe overdose, and beautiful BGM.
Do you like shorter animes or long ones and why?
More often than not, I'd watch short animes (i.e. 26 episodes or less) because I don't have time to keep up with new series. I'd also prefer then to be done airing as well, so I can watch them on my own time.

Also, anime list in signature, but I'll post it here anyways: Link.

Gazza February 19th, 2010 5:37 PM

Rapmaster Gordan sure knows how to kill a thread.

Current topic?

AtomicoExploda February 19th, 2010 6:14 PM

Wow, I actually never noticed this club. I have watched a fair amount of anime, so I will join. :D I'll only answer a few selected questions, and maybe do some more later.

What anime do you recommend the most to others?
Hmm, well definitely Dragon Ball Z, since it's probably one the best animes ever in my opinion, and... Shaman King, I found that really awesome and have watched it a couple of time, and also, Final Fantasy: Advent Children, FFVII is one of my favourite FFs.

Do you tend to like good guys or bad guys?
Well, it depends on what anime it is, sometimes I look the good guys and other time I like the bad guys.

Do you prefer subs, dubs or both?
I used to really prefer dubs since I wasn't bothered with the subtitles, but when I couldn't find a dubbed anime once, I just watched the sub, and I actually didn't mind it, so I will just watch the sub/dub that I find of an anime that I'm looking for.

How do you watch anime?
I'd usually use the internet since I can just watch the whole thing at once.

Snivi February 27th, 2010 11:32 AM

Has anyone here watched Gunslinger Girl season II?

Hmm, I haven't heard of that one. Omg...I am so behind of watching anime. I need to start again. But right now there are other stuff I need to do first. Now I heard of School Days...it had episodes that were pretty creepy. I think...unless I got it confused with something else.

Nope. I didn't even know there was a Season II. That is pretty cool that there is a second season. You get to watch it. ^^

Snivi March 4th, 2010 12:27 PM

Yeah I watched it with my friend Kris.

Neiko Star March 14th, 2010 12:45 PM

Lol, I read through the list of questions and they seemed fun, so I answered all of them. XD

Favorite anime & character?

D.Gray-Man, though I'm in a kind of 07-Ghost phase right now. So I love both at the moment. As for characters...Allen and Lavi from D.Gray-Man. <333

Favorite genre of anime?

I like fantasy, with magic, action, and fighting involved. Stuff like D.Gray-Man and 07-Ghost is perfect for me. Since they both count as "gothic" or "religious", I think I prefer more...serious-ish animes? Rather than slice of life. No mecha for me, either.

What anime do you recommend to others?

D.Gray-Man, 07-Ghost, Shounen Onmyouji, or Black Cat (manga) for shounen/action/supernatural fans. Ouran High School Host Club, Kamichama Karin, Gakuen Alice or Saiunkoku Monogatari for shoujo/comedy fans. There's a whole list of them, but these are some of my favorites.

Do you like shorter or longer animes?

I like longer ones, because, well, you know, the story lasts longer. I'm always so sad when an anime ends. :( You want the awesome-ness to continue. Sadly, all the animes I've watched recently were short ones with less then 30 episodes. However, the longer an anime is, the more it tends to have fillers. >_<

Name some animes you think not many have heard of that you have seen:

D.Gray-Man, 07-Ghost, Black Cat, Kaze no Stigma, Shounen Onmyouji, Saiunkoku Monogatari, Pandora Hearts, Black Butler, Kamichama Karin, Gakuen Alice, Kyo Kara Maoh!, Shakugan no Shana, Hayate no Gotoku! and the list goes on. XD

Do you think any anime characters are hot/sexy/cute?

Allen, Lavi, Teito, Hakuren, Ed, Train, Kazuma, Masahiro, Hei, Lelouch~ And more, of course.

What is your favorite animal from an anime?

Kirara (Inuyasha) and Burupya (07-Ghost) are so cute! ^-^

Do you refer to japanese animation as "anime"?

Yes.

Do you get upset when people call japanese animation 'cartoons'?

Yes.

Do you commonly use words like 'nani' and 'baka' even though you can't speak Japanese?

Yes.

If yes, do you know what 'nani' and 'baka' mean?

Yes.

Have you learned all the Japanese you know from watching anime?

Yes.

Do you prefer subs, dubs or both?

SUBS, definitely.

Have you ever answered a question with "hai"?

Yes.

Can you immediately identify any seiyuu(voice actor/actress) by the sound of their voice?

Some of them, who are really easy to recognize, like Jun Fukuyama, Kenichi Suzumura, Sakurai Takahiro, Rie Kugimiya or Romi Pakku. But the others ones...shocking revelations about a character's voice actor. 0_o

What is the best of the new animes you have seen lately?

07-Ghost.

Is there a manga that you want to be made into an anime?

1/2 Prince.

Your opinion of fanservice in Anime?

None for me. >.>

Snivi March 20th, 2010 10:50 PM

We need some new club questions.

Satoshi Ookami March 20th, 2010 11:32 PM

I don't know if it had been asked but I might have a club question.
Do you remember the highest amount of episodes you watched in 1 day?
If yes do you remember the anime?

As for me I don't really remember if it really was the highest amount but 17 episodes of Kanon 2006 is pretty much what I remember.

Snivi March 26th, 2010 10:31 PM

Lucy Lu March 30th, 2010 6:04 AM

Oh I got a question! ^^

Have you ever finished watching an anime, but then you tend to re-watch your favorite episodes only?

Snivi April 2nd, 2010 10:17 AM

I will answer even though Lucy already knows my answer.

I do not tend to rewatch my fave episodes.

Satoshi Ookami April 3rd, 2010 4:02 AM

If I wanna re-watch anime I re-watch it completely. So my answer is no :)

Hantsuki April 4th, 2010 9:00 PM

I was looking at some of my older posts and I noticed that I made a few posts here! (Even though I somehow didn't make it to the member list.) And I'm glad to see this club is still up and running too! I would like to join or re-join if no one has any objections. So now I will start by answering what I think is the most recent question.

Have you ever finished watching an anime, but then you tend to re-watch your favorite episodes only?
Well, I don't write down which episodes were my favorite, so I can't say that I do. If I re-watch a series, (which is pretty rare because there's so many anime out there I haven't even seen once!) I would watch the entire series starting from episode one. If you count movies or OVAs separately, I would re-watch them without re-watching the parent series first such as the Card Captor Sakura movies.

And now I will continue with the last question I left off.

When you watch anime do you watch the Openings and Endings of the anime? Or you skip to the show?
It all depends on whether the opening and/or ending songs are worth listening to or if the scenes are worth watching. Even if the songs aren't the best (meaning I wouldn't download them for my mp3 player), I would start watching the openings and/or endings if the series is about to end. A good example of this would be Valkyria Chronicles. The first opening song wasn't the best, but the second opening as well as the scenes were worth watching and listening to, but I wanted to finish this anime right away because I wanted to know how it would end, so I started watching the opening all the way through during the last five episodes or so.

What are your fave opening and ending songs?
Hmm. Just a moment while I compile a list. -holds intermission sign-

Opening Songs
"Voice" by CLOUD from Yuugiou (loved this one so much that I downloaded the full version for my mp3)
"Byakuya ~ True Light" by Miyamoto Shunichi from DN Angel
"Ichirin no Hana" by High and Mighty Color from BLEACH
"Rolling star" by YUI from BLEACH
"Uninstall" by Chiaki Ishikawa from Bokurano
"Platinum" by Maaya Sakamoto from Card Captor Sakura
"Satsugai" by Detroit Metal City / Soichi Negishi (Yuuji Ueda) from Detroit Metal City (as wrong as it is, it was a very catchy song)
"Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" by Eiko Shimamiya from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (really?)
"Naraku no Hana" by Eiko Shimamiya from Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai
"Tattoo Kiss" by r.o.r/s from Kaleido Star (out of all the other songs I posted, this song was the only one that made me think of the lyrics)
"Lost in Blue" by Nightmare from Mouryou no Hako
"Musou Uta" by Suara from Utawarerumono
"KANASHIMI RENSA" by MARIA from Valkyria Chronicles

Ending Songs
"With You" by AAA from Inuyasha Kanketsu-hen
"Tooi Michi no Saki de" by Takekawa Ai from Inuyasha Kanketsu-hen
"Kanashii Yokan" by Marianne Amplifier Feat. Yuka (as well as the French version: "Pressentiment triste") from Tsukuyomi no Moon Phase
"Yasashii gogo" by Minawo from DN Angel
"Hajimari no hi" by Minawo from DN Angel (this series had a pretty good OST)
"The Starry Sky" by HAL from Angelic Layer
"Naked Love" by Nightmare from Mouryou no Hako
"Gravity" by Maaya Sakamoto from Wolf's Rain
"Madoromi no Rinne" by Eri Kawai from Utawarerumono

Yes. I went through my list of completed anime to pick out my favorites. It took me about 30 minutes if you're wondering. Is it wrong to have this many favorites?

How do you watch anime?
You would have to elaborate a bit or is this question vague on purpose? Well, I'm usually sitting at my computer or on my dad's bed in his room while eating breakfast/dinner/whatever and I have my dog next to me the whole time. If it's a pretty simple series that doesn't require my full attention, I would be doing something else like looking on other websites on the computer (because my screen is big enough to do so). If you're asking how I watch it or what goes on in my head while I'm watching it, well, if it's an anime that purposely and cleverly leaves a message for the watcher to smile about after realizing what they just watched, I would usually pay more attention to that kind of anime. If it's just another heavily cliched anime, but still enjoyable, I don't pay complete attention unless heavy dialogue is going on (which would be rare in this kind of anime). There's probably more I can answer, but as you can assume, my fingers are getting pretty tired.

Edit: After seeing another answer to this question, I think I understand what it's asking now. xD; I direct download anime. I don't stream my anime unless I absolutely can't find it anywhere else for sure. Or if it's just a short film like 10 minutes tops which I can find on Youtube. Just ignore my previous answer. I was thinking too much.

And here's another question for you all:

Which anime is your favorite OST (Original Soundtrack) from?

Neiko Star April 5th, 2010 6:17 AM

God, just finished watching Law of Ueki. It might have been a bit childish, but the fights were awesome. Fun-est (is that even a word? XD) anime ever.

Which anime is your favorite OST from?

Hmmm....I'd have to say 07-Ghost, though D.Gray-Man and Law of Ueki come pretty close.

Snivi April 16th, 2010 2:45 AM

Anyone watching Maid-sama?

Lucy Lu April 16th, 2010 6:20 AM

Yes I am guilty of watching my favorite episodes again after I watch the anime completely. ^^; It just the episodes itself are very good I can't help it.

Wow great answers Hantsuki! ^^

And no, I haven't since Maid-sama yet Angela. I need to watch it. But first I got to finish up Bokura Ga Ita. And there is another series I want to watch it is called Durarara!! It seems cool. XD

Which anime is your favorite OST (Original Soundtrack) from?

Wow man I got a lot but I am going to list a few. Bleach, FMA, Naruto, Sailor Moon...etc.

Hantsuki April 16th, 2010 2:02 PM

I am going to attempt to finish answering all the questions I have yet to answer.

Is there a genre of anime you refuse to watch?
After going through the list of genres, I wouldn't say that there is a genre that I would refuse to watch no matter what, but there tend to be some genres that somewhat steers me away from watching a particular anime. Those include Harem, Hentai, Ecchi, Mecha, and Sports. However, if I do a little research and find out that there is more to the anime than just what it would be like if it was in its stereotyped genre, then I would still watch it.

How did you start watching anime?
Well, the great Internet was invented, so while I was still overly obsessed with Pokemon, I found out it was specifically called an "anime," so I looked into this particular style of animation and found out some of the cartoons I watched like Card Captor Sakura and Digimon were anime too. I don't think I really got into it until I discovered this channel called Anime On Demand (that was only offered for a short time, sadly) and I began to watch some popular dub anime like DN Angel, Full Metal Panic FUMOFFU, Azumanga Daioh and more. Then in 2008, I found this useful website (My Anime List) and I was able to keep track of the anime I watched instead of typing them all out on WordPad.

Will you still watch anime when you are old?
Only time will tell, but I'm sure I will. It's not like anime is only for kids. I've come across some wonderful masterpieces that I'm sure I would enjoy in my old age when I can really appreciate them like this short film called La Maison de Petits Cubes. I showed that to my dad after I saw it and it made him cry and I knew it would because he's 62 and he has had plenty of experiences like the animation portrayed. In short, yes I will.

Fave voice actors/actresses:
Oh, where do I begin? Rica Matsumoto must be my favorite because she pulls off the evil voice very well. And hell, she made the best voice actor for Yami no Bakura in Yuugiou. Takehito Koyasu would have to be my favorite male voice actor being the awesome voice of Fool from Kaleido Star and Nougami Neuro. Honorable mentions would be Megumi Ogata (Yukito from CCS/Masaya from Tokyo Mew Mew/original Yuugi from first series Yuugiou), Saeko Chiba (Natsuki from Mai Hime/Mai Otome) and there's probably more, but I don't really bother looking them up.

Have you ever had an anime-related dream?
I suppose so, but I wouldn't really remember. I'm sure a lot of my dreams come from the anime I watch the previous night if I really get into it, but I don't think it would be the same as the anime I watched. I do remember an awfully strange dream I felt like I had twice about some kind of monster terrorizing my town (looked like Godzilla or something) and we were hiding at school (which all of a sudden was a lot bigger than it should be) and well, it was pretty exciting if I didn't think it was real at the time (I wish I had lucid dreams). Yeah, I feel strange for sharing that with you all now.

Do you like any characters that have had very little screen-time, like just an episode or three?
Of course! I love those underappreciated characters. It makes me disappointed sometimes when they don't provide a backstory for them either.

Can you immediately identify any seiyuu(voice actor/actress) by the sound of their voice?
Probably not. If I hear a character speak and think it's awfully familiar, I will look up the character I thought he or she sounded like and see who the voice actor was, but I wouldn't know the name of the voice actor if I just heard the voice. I could tell that Masaya from Tokyo Mew Mew sounded like Yukito from CCS when I first heard him, but I didn't know who the voice actor was until I looked her up. Same goes for Fool and Neuro.

What are your top ten animes? (and if you want: you can list why)
1. Kaleido Star; I first watched some random dubbed episodes of this anime on Anime on Demand, but I finally watched the subbed version from start to finish during my winter vacation just because I remembered how silly it was and how beautiful the animation was. I'm not into the sports genre, but the kind of ballet/acrobats/hardcore dancing combination they do in this anime is very engaging. After I saw this series, I seriously searched the Internet for something, anything like the Kaleido Stage that they created in this anime. If ever such a thing was real, I would go see it no matter how far. Anyway, to make this really long story, somewhat short, it was a really inspiring anime. At times you wished you could jump into the screen and help the main protagonist, Sora, out, and other times you cried for her because you know she's in a tough spot, but she always pulls through somehow. And that's why you watch it.
2. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni; You're probably thinking I have this in my favorites because I have a twisted mind (if you've seen this series) and I do somewhat, but I just love this series for its diversity. Everyone recommends it for its gore and crazy characters, but there was humor preceding an episode that ended with torture and it was unexpected at the time. Things seem to go normal and then the show does a complete 360 and everything becomes crazy. Not only that, but each episode leaves you wondering what the hell just happened and wanting for more. And that's why a lot of college students marathon this series in one night with their friends. : P
3. Mai Hime; At first I was turned off by the fact that the main protagonist had big breasts which led me to believe that this was just going to be a stupid ecchi series, but I was wrong. There was still some ecchi, but only for humor, so it was enjoyable because they knew when it was appropriate. After watching the second season, I almost felt that Otome was better than Hime, but they are both great in their own way, so I can't prefer one to the other. If it wasn't for Hime, I wouldn't have watched Otome, so Hime remains in my list for now. (Though if you haven't seen either, you can watch either one first. They are their own series, it's just similar characters in alternate universes.)
4. Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro; If you enjoy detective stories like Sherlock Holmes, you'll enjoy this. If you liked Kuroshitsuji because of Sebastian, you will enjoy this because Neuro is very similar to Sebastian. Annnnd, I must say, after watching each episode, what I look forward to the most is the awesome phrase, "The culprit is . . . you!" The series might get boring to some because it has the same pattern for the first half of the series, but then it gets really interesting. There's not much more to say except it ended too soon.
5. Valkyria Chronicles; I saw a well-made music video and that's what got me into this series. What I think made it interesting for me was the fact that it was a military setting that was portrayed rather realistically. I would have expected mecha robots thrown in, but surprisingly, there were none. They used actual weapons that would have been used in a war. And what I think that tops it off for me is the whole "brotherhood between your comrades" theme that really made the series extra special. You knew that not everyone was going to survive and after learning about the characters, you cried when they died. I think they did well at creating this kind of perspective for viewers who have never been in the army. In this series, you get a taste of what the army is like as far as the time you spend with your comrades.
6. Princess Tutu; I have to admit it was pretty slow at first, but it picks up in the second half. This is another series I saw first in dub on Anime on Demand and decided to watch it from start to finish. The only thing that is wrong with this anime is the title. If you saw the title and knew nothing else about it, you would think it's one of those shoujos centered around ballet. In all honesty, it is, but with a lot more to it. I really can't say more, but it's definitely worth checking out.
7. Shigofumi; One of those anime where you read the premise and you still have no idea what the heck the anime is about, so you watch it and find out. I'll save you a few clicks, so I'll tell you what I read: A shinigami (death god) delivers shigofumi which is basically a letter from the person that died and they usually leave them behind to tell something to their loved ones. So you're thinking now, what's the point? What's the plot? Why is it so good? It's another anime that has a lot more to it than meets the eye. The series starts out with the delivery of these letters, but then they start to get into Fumika, the shinigami's, past and darker themes are brought up.
8. Hanbun no Tsuki ga Noboru Sora; This is the perfect example of a short, but sweet anime (and where my username comes from). A six-episode span anime about a boy in a hospital who meets a somewhat annoying girl who you later find out doesn't have very long to live. It's a bittersweet tale that all romance fans can enjoy.
9. Card Captor Sakura; It's just one of those anime that ever real fan should watch once. A sweet little fourth grader who you would want as your daughter because she's such a good girl, right? Not to mention, every other character is impossible to hate. A great mix of magic, comedy, drama, romance, action and adventure!
10. Grave of the Fireflies; Where to start on this one? A boy who has no choice but to step up and take care of his sister during times of war. He makes choices and takes responsibility and still, not all goes right. I love the fact that this movie isn't pointing fingers or trying to make one specific people look victims. It's about survival during hard times and the consequences you face for the choices you make.

My bottom five tends to change around a little, but they would still be favorites if not in the top ten.

Would you cosplay one or more of your favorite anime characters?
I was going to cosplay as Itachi (when I was still watching Naruto before the never-ending filler season showed up) because I bought some of the things he wears when I went to the convention. Now, it seems like a waste of money, but if I were to cosplay with friends, I would like to go as Natsuki from Mai Hime. There are probably other characters I wouldn't mind dressing up as, but I'm not really into cosplaying. I would rather take pictures of other cosplayers.

What anime character if any would you want to make out with?
Heh. Heh. If I was younger, I would name a lot of guys, but I would go with one only: Yami no Bakura from Yuugiou. As much as secretly think that some guys look handsome or sexy, they are only eye candy to me. I'm not a big fangirl like I used to be.

Fave characters: List your top 3 guys & top 3 girls
Yami no Bakura (Yuugiou)
Nougami Neuro (Majin Tantei Nougami Neuro)
Faldio Landzatt (Valkyria Chronicles)

Kuga Natsuki (Mai Hime)

Naegino Sora (Kaleido Star)
Selvaria Bles (Valkyria Chronicles)

Do you like to pair up charactes? If so what are some of your faves?
Of course, but I've really gotten out of being really supportive of couples because apparently, shippers ruin anime or something. I just like to enjoy anime for the most part, but I support most canon couples and non-canon couples (if it's a big anime with lots of couples). I could name a few, but if I start, I would probably name them all and then would really hurt my fingers.

What characters from different animes do you think might be good together?
I really don't think about cross-shipping so much, but I guess if I had to choose one, Rin from Fate/Stay Night would go well with Akira from Dance in the Vampire Bund. He would make a good servant and I don't think he looks good with loli vampires.

What is your favourite episode?
Favorite episode of all time? It would have to be the final episode of Kaleido Stage, episode 51 where Sora and Layla performed together. It was breathtaking and unbelievable and yet almost believable. It was the best ending ever and it left me in tears.

Favorite Villain?
Yami no Bakura if that wasn't already obvious. : x

What is the best of the new animes you have seen lately?
I don't like watching anime that are currently ending because if it's actually really good, I don't want to have to wait so long for the next episode to be aired. The ones that have recently been completed like Inuyasha The Final Act and Ookami Kakushi are the only recent ones I've watched completely. Ookami was pretty disappointing, but the final Inuyasha season was satisfying. I'm glad it ended as well as it did. I'm currently watching Dance in the Vampire Bund and it's alright, but somewhat slow.

If you could make yourself as an anime character, would you wield any weapons? If so, what would be your weapon of choice?
I would say a scythe, but that's gotten awfully popular with those horror anime lurking about. I would say an old fashioned katana would suit my needs.

Do you guys like anime or manga better?
I watch anime the most. I don't really have time to sit down and read graphic novels. If I have time to read, it would be an actual novel.

Is there a manga that you want to be made into an anime?
I wish After School Nightmare, Her Majesty's Dog and Juvenile Orion were made into anime.

Anyone own some anime t-shirts?
I don't think so.

What was your first manga that you ever got?
I remember perfectly. It was Kare First Love Volume 5 which had a really ecchi scene. My friend got it for my birthday and when I was reading it, everyone was reading it behind me and they thought it was the perfect manga for me, those 'tards. I eventually bought all the novels and now it's one of my all time favorite manga.

What anime characters do you dislike & why?
I dislike annoying characters who have no redeeming qualities or no character development. Not to mention, characters that are very bland and don't do anything to make the show any better. It makes you wonder why they were in the show to begin with.

What is the most recent anime you watched?
I saw episode three of Dance in the Vampire Bund earlier today and I saw the first episode of Hitsuji no Uta most recently. The animation is disappointing because they had a terrible budget, but it's fine. I don't expect much from OVAs.

Your opinion of fanservice in Anime?
It's fine sometimes as long as it's for humor purposes, but if there's too much of it, you might as well make it a hentai.

What anime character do you think would be best to go on a vacation with you, and where?
If I had a contract with Sebastian, he would be very convenient to have around no matter where I traveled. I guess Germany would be fun to visit with him!

Which anime is your favorite OST from?
My absolute favorite must be Tsubasa Chronicle. Kajiura Yuki did most of the music in the anime and it's all great to listen to. Mai Hime's soundtrack sounds great too (because of Kajiura Yuki again). And another one would have to be Genji Monogatari Sennenki. The instrumental music is very relaxing.

And another question for you all to answer!
Does a well-made anime music video encourage you to watch the anime it features? Does a poorly made anime music video discourage you from watching the anime it features?

Snivi April 18th, 2010 4:29 AM

What a long post lol.

Kimi Ni Todoke is over. Did anyone else watch it?

Neiko Star April 18th, 2010 5:44 AM

It's on my to-watch list. =P So is Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, though I'm waiting for more episodes of that one to come out.

Snivi April 18th, 2010 5:57 AM

Kaichou wa Maid-sama! is really good so far.

Neiko Star April 18th, 2010 8:34 AM

Which one do you think is better? (Kimi ni Todoke or Maid-sama!)

Hantsuki April 18th, 2010 2:19 PM

Kimi ni Todoke is on my Plan to Watch list as well as Kaichou wa Maid-sama! but I haven't started on either of them. I heard Kimi ni Todoke was particularly great, but I'm not sure if I want to start on it yet.

I'm currently watching Spice and Wolf and it's pretty interesting so far. I would like to start on another series though (so I have something to watch in college on my other laptop), but I'm not sure which anime I should check out even though I have over 200 titles I can choose from and over 50 different series sitting in my flash drive. Is there any particular series you think is so great that I should watch it right away?

Neiko Star April 18th, 2010 2:42 PM

D.Gray-Man, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Shounen Onmyouji, Law of Ueki...if you like shounen/action/adventure. If not, have you seen Ouran High School Host Club or Skip Beat! ?

Hantsuki April 19th, 2010 1:36 PM

I like watching both shounen and shoujo, but sometimes, I just need to be in the right mood to watch shoujo. I don't really want to start on FMA Brotherhood until it's finished airing, but I haven't seen the first version either. Do you recommend watching the other one? I know that Brotherhood is supposed to follow the manga this time around, but I hear that the other FMA had darker themes and then I hear Brotherhood had more darker themes than the first one, so I'm confused.

I have the other ones mentioned on my Plan to Watch list, but I don't want to watch series with lots of episodes until I'm on break because if I get too attached, I'll want to keep watching them instead of focusing on college work. : P

I've seen Ouran Host Club already and it was surprisingly good. You're the second person to recommend me to Skip Beat?! so I'll probably try that one next. It sounds short and sweet. Thanks.

Has anyone watched Death Note, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Clannad, Code Geass, Soul Eater or Toradora? I was thinking on watching some of the popular anime soon since I've been ignoring them for the underappreciated anime. Anyone have any idea which one I should start with?

Neiko Star April 19th, 2010 2:22 PM

I've seen Code Geass and read the manga of Soul Eater, which is really good. Manga is better than anime though. Good popular anime...well, Fullmetal Alchemist fits that category pretty well. Brotherhood is certainly much better than the original series, so normally I would recommend you it, but the thing is, for the first ten episodes or so, the plot is basically the same, with just minor changes, so everything happens really fast. It shouldn't be too much of a problem if you haven't seen the first series though. =P Which was pretty much the opposite: slow. But yeah, FMA is just plain awesome. I highly recommend you to watch it.

Hantsuki April 19th, 2010 4:31 PM

Yeah, I kind of figured manga would usually be better than most of the anime adaptations, but I'd rather watch an anime, especially if it has awesome battle scenes. I want to see that stuff animated. I usually read manga for the shoujo genres that don't have anime adaptations yet, but occasionally, if I like the anime a lot and I'm not satisfied with the ending, I check out the manga because I want more.

Is Code Geass supposed to be like Gundam or something? I haven't seen Gundam, but I looked it up and it doesn't sound like something that would really appeal to me. I heard the second half of Soul Eater was disappointing. Did you still enjoy it?

Hmm. I actually think I want to check out FMA before I go ahead and watch Brotherhood. It does look very interesting and if I get into Brotherhood and feel like I want more FMA and start watching the first series, I'm afraid I'll be disappointed.

I watched these 4 animes and all of them rule big time!
Also Code Geass and Death Note are in my top 10. =)
I strongly recommend you to watch all of them ;)
And FMA Brotherhood is awesome as well it's much better then the first season. =)

Neiko Star April 20th, 2010 12:41 PM

The animation in Brotherhood is awesome, so don't you worry about the fight scenes. So you're going to watch the first series first? Just one thing: the art styles for the two series are a bit different, so Brotherhood's graphics will probably take a little while to get used to.

Death Note and Code Geass are pretty similar.

Code Geass is not really like Gundam. It has the mecha aspect to it but that is about it. FMA was pretty good in my opinion I don't they finished the series when I used to watch it on Adult Swim I haven't got around to watching it since then. I recommend you watch a few episodes of Geass and see if you like it.

Hantsuki April 23rd, 2010 8:42 PM

Thanks for all your help guys. I just marathoned all 25 episodes of Skip Beat! today and I found it quite enjoyable, but I was disappointed that it ended so soon. I'm probably going to start with Death Note next (since I always hear how Code Geass is a mix of Gundam and Death Note), so if I enjoy DN, I'll pick up Code Geass, and then I'll go from there.

So, what is everyone else watching?

Neiko Star April 24th, 2010 9:48 AM

Angel Beats!, Giant Killing, and I just started Dennou Coil. =)

Hantsuki April 24th, 2010 12:04 PM

How do you like Dennou Coil so far? It sounds weird, but I hear great things about it all the time.

Loud and Annoying Pidgey April 24th, 2010 1:36 PM

You have like four anime that have wolves as characters. So I'm assuming you love wolves? : o Spice and Wolf is one of my top ten favorites too. It's a shame that so many people drop it because they feel like it's boring in the first few episodes. I want to watch Arashi no Yoru ni, but I have no idea where to download it.

I just watched the first episodes of Durarara!, Mushishi, and One Piece. Dennou Coil seems interesting. It's creative, to say the least.

Oh, and I watched the first episode of Wolf's Rain. I love wolves too~ <3 Though I prefer them in real life than in anime. XD

Haha. Thanks ^-^

Toboe was epic. I actually cried after watching that episode. x.x;

Arashi no Yoru ni can be watched on Youtube, if you dont mind watching it in parts.

Wolves are epic, yes. I do love them. xD

Hehe, Tsume and Horo would make a cool pair. I just randomly thought of it one day and I was like "...omg. ITS POSSIBLE." xP

Gah. I want to start on Durarara!! but then I want to wait for it to finish airing. : x I want to see Mushishi too, but all I've found were dubbed episodes. All of this talk of wolves made me search for some anime with wolves in them. : P

I just watched the first 12 episodes of Death Note and man was I surprised. It is definitely not just some overrated anime due to the fans making a big hype about it. It truly is full of suspense that I sometimes feel like I'm in Light's shoes and I hope that L doesn't find any evidence to know that I'm Kira. Haha.

It's kinda long list I know :D

You got that right =) DN is awesome =)
But I gotta say that the first part of it is much better.

Neiko Star April 25th, 2010 5:45 AM

D.GRAY-MAN! <333

My most favorite anime ever. It's been my number one ever since I first watched it. ^^ Where are you at, Ash493?

Hantsuki April 25th, 2010 12:20 PM

Wow. If you like D-Gray Man enough to say it's your most favorite anime, then I really should check it out sometime soon. Can you explain why you like it so much though?

I'm also watching xxxHolic, but it seems kind of slow. I'm really only watching it so I can understand Tsubasa Chronicle. If anyone has seen it, does it get any better in the later episodes? I'm on episode 4 right now.

Neiko Star April 25th, 2010 12:30 PM

The idea is cool, it has the action I like, and it has plenty of comedy. The soundtrack and openings are pure awesome-ness. Its pace isn't too slow or too rushed. (Well, except for the fillers. Screw them. >_>) The voice actors are good too. It can be dark and funny at the same time. Oh, and I absolutely LOVE the characters. <333 Lavi~ It's funny enough to make you laugh, but dark enough that there aren't any annoying cliche fanservice girls going "Kyaaaaa!".

Hantsuki April 25th, 2010 1:17 PM

Alright. You convinced me. XD What about Soul Eater? How would you compare it with D. Gray-Man? Is it like a similar atmosphere?

Neiko Star April 25th, 2010 1:34 PM

Not sure. I've only seen a couple of episodes. But Soul Eater's atmostphere is very different from D.Gray-Man's, I find. DGM's darker, and Soul Eater's more comedy. Both are good though.

UraharaSteph April 25th, 2010 2:36 PM

Neiko Star April 25th, 2010 2:50 PM

LOL yeah episode 18 of D.Gray-Man was great! One of the few fillers I didn't mind. Oh, and the story gets better and better, so make sure you keep watching, 'kay? XDDD

UraharaSteph April 25th, 2010 2:57 PM

I will! Although I only have up to episode 26 on DVD! I need to find a website where I can watch it >.<

Hantsuki April 25th, 2010 3:09 PM

Neiko Star: Ah, I thought Soul Eater was one of those dark-themed anime, but that might be because of some of the fan pictures I've seen. Thanks for answering so many of my questions!

UraharaSteph: Welcome to the club! And a nice set of answers you have there. I noticed Higurashi being in your top ten favorites. Have you seen the second season? Or the other anime made by the same creator? (Umineko no Naku Koro ni or Ookami Kakushi)?

UraharaSteph April 25th, 2010 3:13 PM

@Hantsuki: I have seen the second season! And I've seen the OVA. I love all of them. The plot, and the insanity is fantastic. I love intense and insane things. I guess I'm just weird like that.

I've considered watching both Umineko no Naku Koro ni and Ookami Kakushi! I don't know which one to watch, but I was planning to start one either after I watched D.Gray-Man or in between it.

Neiko Star April 25th, 2010 3:17 PM

I'm pretty sure I watched most of D.Gray-Man on Megavideo. Or you could just write "watch D.Gray-Man online" on Google and check what comes out. :)

UraharaSteph April 25th, 2010 3:20 PM

I may have to do that!!!! Since the next DVD doesn't come out in England for another 4 months or so.

Hantsuki April 25th, 2010 3:24 PM

UraharaSteph: I watched Umineko while it was airing, same with Ookami. A word of advice when you start on them, don't try to compare either of them to Higurashi or it will be very hard to enjoy them. I think it would have been best if one was to watch either one of them before Higurashi because I think Higurashi was just the best out of all of them.

But it could have been hard for me to enjoy because both series were full of puzzles like Higurashi and it was hard to understand since it took a while to see each episode. When I was watching Higurashi, both seasons were already out, so I finished both in about four days.

UraharaSteph April 25th, 2010 3:28 PM

Ah I see! I try not to compare animes to each other anyway. That why I never research into the animators and all that. However, I normally spot the similarities in plot, characters or how they're drawn, but I still not try to make connections.

It's been a while since I've watched Higurashi now anyway.

Neiko Star April 25th, 2010 3:59 PM

Ah, Higurashi is on my to-watch list too. Though I'm somewhat hesitant because of all the bloody killing, my friend's been nagging me to watch it, so...

Yeah. The series makes you want to cringe sometimes and it kind of makes you paranoid for a while. But the great thing about this series is that it has practically everything in one. When the characters aren't crazy little girls scaring the crap out of Keiichi, they are all playing around in club games and having fun and providing some pretty good comedy. The series keeps you wondering to the very end.

Neiko Star April 26th, 2010 12:54 PM

Ah, okay. ^^ By the way, does anybody have any good action, supernatural/magic/fantasy shounen to recommend me?

Hantsuki April 26th, 2010 5:47 PM

Fate/Stay Night fits the Action, Supernatural, Fantasy, and Shounen categories. Beautiful animation, great assortment of characters and an interesting plot.

Kuroshitsuji which has Action, Comedy, Fantasy, Shounen, and Supernatural. It seems kind of slow at first, but it develops into an intriguing anime.

If you enjoy F/SN, then you'll probably like Shakugan no Shana. They both pretty much share similar things like the fact that are many unique characters and they both have male main characters who work with a female character who does all the fighting. They both contain mythological connections, but F/SN has more of them.

Have you tried Beet The Vandel Buster? It has action, supernatural(some what), and magic. Yu Yu Hakusho definitely has a lot of action and the supernatural goes along with it so if you haven't seen this I would highly recommend it I used to watch it when it was on Toonami. If you do watch it the ending is seems rushed.

Snivi May 22nd, 2010 5:19 PM

Anyone watching the Maid-sama anime?

Neiko Star May 23rd, 2010 5:59 PM

Me! =D Usui's so funny. XD

I know you said we didn't have to do all of it but I did anyway.............

Shanghai Alice June 12th, 2010 3:19 PM

Who is Baka Tenshi?

Any relation to the Heaven? If so, are you a masochist? :D

Also, I know it isn't required, but I like filling out questionnaires. Sorry for taking up a lot of space. D:

Fave anime & fave character:
Currently?
Code Geass, and... Hiyori, of Lucky Star.

Fave genre of anime:
Slice-of-life comedy. I don't care how "Slice-of-life" it actually is, but shows that label themselves as SOL Comedy typically appeal to me.

What genres do you like/dislike?
I like comedy, action, and "weird" stuff, like Lain and Paranoia Agent.

I dislike school drama, anything with a love dodecahedron, or shows that pretty much dump everything into making the characters cute and innocent, without ANYTHING else.

What anime do you recommend the most to others?
Haruhi, Azumanga, and Geass.

Do you like shorter animes or long ones and why?
Look at my list and take a guess.
I like 'em short, so I can watch a lot of shows during the summer. Also, if I miss an episode or ten, I won't be lost.

Name some animes you think not many have heard of that you have seen:
Serial Experiments Lain. It's mindscrewing and wonderful, though the animation is dated.

Sakura Taisen, it's cliche and overdramatic. Precisely why I love it.

Do you think any anime characters are sexy/hot/cute?
Sexy/hot? Yes, but I'm not into that sort of thing. That's not why I watch.
However, I do like the cute characters.

If so, who is your #1?
Osaka, from Azumanga Daioh

How much anime stuff do you own?
Not counting the anime itself, I have a Haruhi figure from Japan my sibling got me, and a Haruhiism wristband.

Counting the actual anime, I have the Lucky Star OVA, and the Sakura Taisen box set.

Name an anime you dropped and tell why you did not like it:
Steel Angel Kurumi. No explanation needed.

Do you have a fave anime pairing?
Euphemia and Suzaku. But only for Euphemia, I don't care about the other one.

If you bought a gift for your fave character, what would you get them & why?
I'd give her the keys to my shiny new Koubu. She can pilot it on the weekends.

What is your fave animal from an anime?
Cherry the dog from Lucky Star.

Do you tend to like good guys or bad guys?
Anti-heros are made of awesome, but I prefer the good guys.

Do you refer to japanese animation as "anime"?
It's a short term that helps distinguish from Western animation, so yes.

Do you get upset when people call japanese animation 'cartoons'?
Partially, but I'm obsessive about correctness and accuracy.

Do you commonly use words like 'nani' and 'baka' even though you can't speak Japanese?
Only if needed. For example, "Danmaku" is more accurate than "Shooter" when describing a Touhou game, and it's shorter than it's English translation. It's convenient and accurate.

However, sprinkling Nipponji words into my kawaii sentences ruins it, desu, and makes me look like a baka gaijin, nyan.

Now excuse me while I commit seppuku as an apology to humanity for that sentence.

If yes, do you know what 'nani' and 'baka' mean?
Yes. Nothing cements the "What the hell" factor than a mind-broken character uttering a simple "Nani?" after a traumatic event.

Have you learned all the Japanese you know from watching anime?
Not all of it, but most of it. Most of it I'll never use, and is only picked up because they're ultra-common in casual conversation.

Oh, and then there's... CHIIIIIIIIINPOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Do you prefer subs, dubs or both?
Case-by-case, but I can't say I like both.

For example, Lucky Star's dub was solid, but the original voices conveyed the personalities better. On the flipside, Kiki's Delivery Service changed the lead's voice into something actually fitting of a young girl.

Do you have a subscription to an anime magazine or do you buy issues of one?
Used to, Shonen Jump, don't anymore.

Have you ever answered a question with "hai"?
Nein. Japanese is one of the only foreign languages (known to me) that I don't borrow "yes" and "no" from.

Did you name a pet after an anime character?
No. My iPod, GBA, bike, PSP, PS2, and saxophone aren't pets.

For the record..
iPod- Osaka
GBA- Loli-chan
PSP- Churaya-san
PS2- Surrogate-kun
Sax- SAK (Acronym for... No, too embarrassed...)
Bike- MALICE CANNON! (It helps to shout "TWIN LOVE: MALICE CANNON!" when peddling as fast as you can. When nobody is around, of course)

Is there anything that you wished existed for anime merchandise but you cannot find it anywhere? For example a t-shirt or plush etc
No, because Japan merchandises the hell out of everything. They even have YUKKURI PLUSHES.

If you now what a yukkuri is, yes, that is NOT a joke. You can buy RL yukkuris. About the size of an adult yukkuri.

If you were in Japan, would you go to the studio of your favorite anime? And while you there, what would you do?
Yes, for the tourist aspect. I'd buy souvenirs. Hooray!

If you could make an anime what might it be about?
Impossible. Western "anime"... isn't.

Have you been to an anime convention?
No. So far, so good.

Recommend an anime:
Azumanga Daioh

When you watch anime do you watch the Openings and Endings of the anime? Or you skip to the show?
On the first episode, and on the last episode only.

What are your fave opening and ending songs?
Geki! Teikoku Kageki-dan! (Sakura)
Duvet (Lain)
Soramimi Cake/Raspberry Heaven (Azumanga)
CAGAYAKE! GIRLS!/Don't Say 'Lazy!' (K-On!)
R.O.D. (R.O.D. the TV)
Read or Die theme (Read or Die)

How do you watch anime?
On a screen. Typically while eating food.

Is there a genre of anime you refuse to watch?
School drama, if that's the only aspect. Shows like Geass don't count. There's more to the show than school.

How did you start watching anime?
4Kids, but that doesn't count. I started, and stopped for a few years.
My first real anime was Azumanga Daioh.

Will you still watch anime when you are old?
Probably. I still want to watch Higurashi.

Fave voice actors/actresses:
Wh- Hirano Aya (And, even more so, her English counterpart, Wendee Lee!)
NORIO WAKAMOTO, DEFENDER OF EARTH!
Chi... Chihara Minori...

Have you ever had an anime-related dream?
There were characters from anime in it, but it wasn't about anime, so... sorta.

Do you like any characters that have had very little screen-time, like just an episode or three?
Tsuraya-san forever!

Can you immediately identify any seiyuu(voice actor/actress) by the sound of their voice?
Nein.

What are your top ten animes? (and if you want: you can list why)
1. Azumanga. I don't know why, but I'm super-attached to this.
2. Code Geass. Come on, it's more over-the-top awesome than a Tarantino movie!
3. The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. I love this show. I really do.

So I've been told xD
How long is it and what episodes?

Joeyjoe9876 July 2nd, 2010 3:40 PM

When you watch anime do you watch the Openings and Endings of the anime? Or you skip to the show? If its the first time i've ever watched the show I watch the everything. if not I just skip to the show, or do something else while waiting for the show to start.
What anime do you recommend the most to others?
I would probably have to recommend Rurouni Kenshin. It has just the right mix of Violence and Romance and is just perfect.

oh yeah, I'd like to join the club :P

Charizard★ July 10th, 2010 4:23 PM

Name an anime you dropped and tell why you did not like it:

It was just plain horrible to me.

Do you have a fave anime pairing?
I have many.
But,one of them are
Otonashi x Kanade
