Hmm... is this Snorlax worth using?
So yeah, I have a friend who's a fellow IV breeder, and he has Emerald.
Anywho, we were trading off our IV bred pokemon to each other, and he gave me his Snorlax that came with a few tutor moves. Fire Punch Thunder Punch Curse Rest What's even more astonishing are the IVs: 29/24/31/X/19/X Now, for being a legit Emerald bred pokemon, this is superb. The only real turnoff for him is that he's Brave Nature. This ain't a terrible nature, but most laxes run a defense increasing nature, no? Anywho, I'd like to know if I should bother using this one, as well as the EV spread I should do if I do use it. I'm only asking because I've never really trained laxes. :/ |
Brave nature actually makes him excellent in Trick Room.
|
So I should continue using this guy fro TR support?
Might make me motivated enough to start running a TR team, eh? |
Well, if this is for emerald, those are special attacks :/ Body slam and Shadow ball FTW.
|
No, this was ported from Emerald.
I'm thinking of keeping the punches and maybe swapping rest for Body Slam/Return, if I can make him love me. |
Um, STABed return does more than either punch being supereffective...
|
Oh, well damn them punches then. :/
However, I can see the punches being useful when going against Steel Types, right? Also, Thunder Punch is great for keeping them G-Doses at bay. Aside from special cases, I can probably safely Return anything that doesn't resist me. |
Um, if you fear gyarados, body slam will suffice. Para hax is your friend ;)
Crunch in the last slot because gengar is an annoying little idiot. |
This would be the best way to run a Brave Snorlax:
Trick Room + Choice Band Have a fellow Pokemon learn Trick Room, and Snorlax is free to wreck havoc, and with Brave nature plus Choice Band, he's got a pretty good attack stat behind him. And maxing out HP would give him some walling potential, so he wouldn't be terribly hard to get into play. So max out Attack and HP, I would say. Maybe a few EVs in Defense or Special Defense, but I'm no Snorlax expert. |
Alright, so for a moveset so far, we got:
Curse Crunch Body Slam/Return ??? And EVs to Maximize HP and attack. I dunno, I feel like I should put something in special defense, those IVs aren't perfect and I could use a little bit of extra cushioning. |
Richard, I believge you only need enough EVs for CBlax to reach 501 HP...or, that's what I run ;)
|
Ok, it takes approximately 168 EVs for this lax to reach 501.
|
160 with a max HP IV...I'm pretty sure. My Netbattle is down, so I can't check :( But yeah, max attack, rest in SDef.
|
And as for a moveset, no Curse on a CBlax. Let's see... go with:
- Return/Body Slam - Crunch/Pursuit (could work, and catch a Starmie or non-Focus Blast Gengar off guard) - Earthquake - Brick Break/Focus Punch (if you're confident at prediction) EDIT: Never mind Pursuit, that's an egg move. Go with Crunch. |
I'm pretty sure it's shadow ball (now crunch I suppose), EQ, Focus Punch (all CB sets require prediction, so what the heck), and return or teh slam.
loling at curse on CBlax...that would be...interesting lol |
fire punch on snorlax. that's perfect =D
|
So, I'm confused guys.
Is it better off I run Curselax, or CBLax? He'll definitely be one mean effer with that attack, and since I'll be switching around alot anyway, Curse might be better off gone. Also, the fact he isn't a Curselax might surprise the opponent enough to net me a potential free attack. :p So then, Evs in Hp/Attack? |
Curselax is really only worth it if you have a Defense boosting nature. However, this Snorlax has an Atk boosting nature, meaning it would be a good attacker. Go with CBlax, sans Curse.
|
I prefer CBlax over Curselax, and as airconditioning said, with your particular Snorlax's nature, I feel it would better fit that role.
You also just reported your own thread, meaning you're probably done with it. I'll lock it then. |
