Oh snap. A mono poison team!

Yes, a mono poision team that's had some great success in beating OU teams in shoddy.

The Crew:

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfsb/dpmfsb094.png http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfsb/dpmfsb110.png http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfsb/dpmfsb073.png http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfsb/dpmfsb452.png http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfsb/dpmfsb003.png http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmfsb/dpmfsb317.png

Changes to the team are bolded.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmbsa/dpmbsa094.png
Gengar (♂) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Standard specsgar. No hypnosis because I have better sleep moves on this team.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmbsa/dpmbsa110.png

Weezing (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP/172 Def/84 SAtk
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Will-o-wisp
- Pain Split
- Explosion
- Thunderbolt

Gyara counter pretty much. Enough Defense EVs to hit 350. Needed a little extra Sp.Atk Evs for a Thunderbolt though.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmbsa/dpmbsa073.png

Tentacruel (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 196 HP/44 Def/96 SAtk/172 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
- Hydro Pump

Pretty standard moveset for Tentacruel, not so standard EV spread I don't think. Lol. My Spinner/Spiker.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmbsa/dpmbsa452.png

Drapion (♀) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sniper
EVs: 252 Atk/68 Def/188 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Night Slash
- Cross Poison
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake

Psychic resist. Very helpful on a mono poison. Lol. Night Slash/Cross Poison for STAB and Sniper hax. Knock off for support, although I may replace it with Earthquake.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmbsa/dpmbsa003.png

Venusaur (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 196 HP/44 Def/16 Spd/252 SAtk
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- Sleep Powder
- Leech Seed

Fun stuff here. Shuffle between Sleep Powder/Leech Seed, especially in the face of Blissey. Makes a nice Breloom counter as well.

http://www.pokemonelite2000.com/sprites/dpmbsa/dpmbsa317.png

Swalot (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 252 HP/72 Atk/12 Def/172 SDef
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Curse
- Ice Punch
- Pain Split

Yes. It's a freaking Swalot. No lies. I found out that Swalot had an interesting moveset, and it works pretty good. Makes for a good Celebi counter, since most don't run Psychic. Sad part is that Swalot doesn't get a good STABed physical attack. I may switch to Calm Nature.

luke November 23rd, 2007 4:31 PM

I have a Mono Poison-type Team of my own and I love it. All of them look good except for Swalot. Muk pulls off that set A LOT better. Has better overall stats and movepool.

O_O I guess it could work ;)

total weakness to toxic users ;) lol

Pretty solid though. I mean, it's a mono team, so judging by those standards, it's pretty good.

He's right. An OBVIOUS Ground/Psychic weak, but Duh. Ignoring that, Muk over Swalot.

I like it, I prefer Flamethrower though

Surf>Hydro Pump. Better accuracy and PP.

Not a clue on those last 2

Looks pretty solid, but beware CBmence.

Anti November 23rd, 2007 4:36 PM

who DOESN'T love muk? Well, who didn't before ash caught one? lol

Weezing takes EQ though, and psychic resists are awesome. and guess he has one...I know nothing about drapion, so yeah ;)

Towlie November 23rd, 2007 4:36 PM

Muk doesn't have Earthquake or Pain Split.
:[

I may do HP Grass on Tentacruel, but not over Toxic Spikes. If anything, Ice Beam. Toxic Spikes is always nice to have. ;o

Anti November 23rd, 2007 4:37 PM

Well, just so bulky waters don't totally lol at you, and water absorbers are a pain. you can always switch though ;) BTW, Weezing > CBmence.

ChrisG14 November 23rd, 2007 4:37 PM

But you need Ice Beam in there somewhere. Most people expect HP Ice from Gengar, and since it's built to take an EQ, it can Ice Beam most dragons.

Towlie November 23rd, 2007 4:40 PM

Yea, Weezing takes most of Mences attacks like a pro. ;o

And I put Hydro Pump over Surf just because Tentacruel doesn't have good special attack.

luke November 23rd, 2007 4:41 PM

Well, with Swalot's stats, he may not be able to survive a hit to Pain Split. X.x;

Sora_8920 November 23rd, 2007 4:41 PM

Swalot.. Well.. Can't stand it's ground in OU's. Vileplume can be an option for a cleric. :P

Vileplume (F) @ Leftovers ** Fergie
Trait: Chlorophyll
EV's: 244 HP / 136 Def / 128 SDef
Calm / Sassy Nature
- Sleep Powder
- Stun Spore / Toxic
- Aromatherapy
- Energy Ball / Sludge Bomb. :P

Anti November 23rd, 2007 4:42 PM

Ironically, Vileplume can't do crap in OUs either :/

Yeah. But it really isn't going to be attacking the OU's, is it? And I see no other Cleric that's Poison Type.

what status does this team have to worry about? I don't see the need for a cleric in this case.

Towlie November 23rd, 2007 4:46 PM

Swalot gets 404 HP, so it does take a hit. Normally I curse once or twice, then Pain Split. It works better than I planned.

I don't need a cleric as of yet, but if I do, Vileplume is a good option.

Poison of course.
;o

The only status I worry about is burn on Drapion/Swalot. But WoW is so easy to see coming. Lol

That really helpes [/sarcasm] and hello, all mono teams are at a disadvantage. I'd say this is a very good team, nice "advice."

Can you expand on that statement?

nevermind...forget it....

luke November 23rd, 2007 4:57 PM

Again, stop with the spam. One more post like that and I'm warning you. And stop surpassing the 25 Character Limit.

Muk has more HP. X.x; I go with

Muk @ Black Sludge / Leftovers
Nature: Careful
Trait: Sticky Hold
EV Spread: 252 HP / 24 ATK / 100 DEF / 134 SPDEF

Poison Jab / Gunk Shot / Shadow Sneak
Fire Punch / Focus Punch
Curse
Rest

Towlie November 23rd, 2007 5:11 PM

I like Swalot a lot better. :/
Earthquake/Ice Punch has a lot more coverage, plus he doesn't have to worry about being asleep for 2 turns. Liquid Ooze is also what makes it such a great Celebi counter.

What the hell did you just say? How dare you even mention Plume without my name in the same sentence.

Also, I am amazed you said it can't do crap in OU.

luke November 23rd, 2007 5:58 PM

Deep breaths sims. Deep breaths. You know what he meant. In the right hands, it's usable but for the most part, it can't compete in OU compared to others who fit its role. Just relax. It'll be okay.
