Yet another RMT

Hello again. I've been playing NetBattle quite a bit but can't get the hang of combos and when to use them and such. I've complied a decent team but I want some opinions.

Dragonite @ Leftovers
252Attack-180Speed-76Sp. Atk
Adamant Nature
Aerial Ace
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Thunderbolt

Jolteon @ Leftovers
252 Speed & Sp. Atk-4HP
Naive Nature
Hidden Power (Ice)
Substitute
Thunderwave
Thunderbolt

Swampert @ Chesto Berry
252 HP & Defense-4Atk
Impish Nature
Curse
Earthquake
Rest
Rock Slide

Starmie @ Petaya Berry
252 Speed & Sp. Atk-4 Sp. Def
Timid Nature
Ice Beam
Psychic
Surf
Thunderbolt

Heracross @ Salac Berry
252 Atk & Spd-4 Def
Naive Nature
Brick Break
Megahorn
Rock Slide
Swords Dance

Crobat @ Choice Band
252 Spd-240 Atk- 16 Def
Impish Nature
Aerial Ace
Hidden Power (Ground)
Shadow Ball
Sludge Bomb

I lost 16 consecutive matches with this team. It's 62% power if anyone wants to know. Crobat does nothing but annoy ME while Heracross is a Physical Nothingness. Starmie and Jolteon clean up messes with Speed and Special Attacks.

I need good combos and even complete team makeovers. Explain how to use combos as well.

On this Dnite, Tbolt cannot OHKO Skarm, but without the EVs it will still 2HKO it. So Move those EVs.

Jolteon @ Leftovers
252 Speed & Sp. Atk-4HP
Timid Nature
Hidden Power (Ice)
Substitute
Thunderwave
Thunderbolt

Swampert @ Chesto Berry/Lefties
252 HP & Defense-4Atk
Impish Nature
Curse
Earthquake
Rest/Sub
Rock Slide

Starmie @ Petaya Berry
252 Speed & Sp. Atk-4 Sp. Def
Timid Nature
Ice Beam
Psychic
Surf
Thunderbolt

Heracross @ Salac Berry works much better with the EndRev'ing set.
252 Atk & Spd-4 Def
Naive Nature
Brick Break
Megahorn
Rock Slide
Swords Dance

Crobat @ Choice Band
252 Spd-240 Atk- 16 Def
Impish Nature
Aerial Ace
Hidden Power (Ground)
Shadow Ball
Sludge Bomb

Why the Defence EVs?

Edit in Bold...
Well your team has only 1 tank. And it cant special hits. 5 sweepers is a BIG NO.
You might want a Blissey. I don't know many Special Walls in 3rd Gen.

Matty101 November 24th, 2007 6:40 AM

I don't want to use Blissey and sorry to say, but I couldn't tell the difference between a wall and a sweeper. Is there a guide or something I could read with some examples? And I'm trying to keep the team 1st & 2nd gen only. Thanks for your help though :)

Dragonite @ Leftovers
252Attack-180Speed-76Sp. Atk
Lonely Nature
Outrage / Dragon Claw
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Thunderbolt / Icebeam

Does it really need a Flying Move? Thunderbolt, Icebeam, and Earthquake are already more powerful than Aerial Ace evenafter STAB.

Jolteon @ Leftovers
252 Speed & Sp. Atk-4HP
Timid Nature
Hidden Power (Ice) / Agility
Substitute
Baton Pass
Thunderbolt

Jolteon was solely meant to be a Baton Passer. Thunder Wave really has no use since it can already outrun all the pokemon it needs to.

Swampert @ Leftovers
252 HP / 172 Attack / 80 Defense
Relaxed Nature
Curse / Rest / Surf
Earthquake
Curse / Rest / Surf
Rock Slide

Keep in mind that I do realize Surf is a Special Attack. But it helps get rid of Steelix, Donphan, and other Physical Walls that might stand in the way.

Starmie @ Petaya Berry
252 Speed & Sp. Atk-4 Sp. Def
Timid Nature
Ice Beam
Psychic
Surf
Thunderbolt

Heracross @ Salac Berry
252 Atk & Spd-4 Def
Naive Nature
Reversal
Megahorn
Rock Slide
Endure

Heracross has a slightly below average Speed which may be the reason you are losing so much. Salac Berry won't have much effect unless you actually have a move that allows it to last a turn(Endure). Try the Endureversaling set. Reversal gets a whopping 200 Power when it is used on 1 HP to 4% HP left. Also, with STAB, Reversal's Base Power gets boosted to 300.

I lost 16 consecutive matches with this team. It's 62% power if anyone wants to know. Crobat does nothing but annoy ME while Heracross is a Physical Nothingness. Starmie and Jolteon clean up messes with Speed and Special Attacks.

My fixes are packed in a quote in bold.

Good resource for the basics of pokemanz.

Toothache November 24th, 2007 7:00 AM

Heracross needs Jolly nature. Naive lowers SpDef.

Also Hydro Pump would be better on Mixpert IMO over Surf, gets more damage out of him especially with Torrent.

Sora_8920 November 24th, 2007 7:04 AM

Timid >>> Naive on Jolteon.. :P

Anti November 24th, 2007 8:38 AM

I can say pinch berries aren't very good items to have. Lefties, lum berry, and choice band...those items are better.

And Itachi, I don't know about you, but if I got a naive jolteon with good IVs and the HP you're looking for, I'd keep it.

ChrisG14 November 24th, 2007 8:44 AM

Hera's too slow to pull of a reversal, even with a Salac. Most people use Quick Attack/ExtremeSpeed/Ice Shard to kill any hopes of Reversing. And even if you switch and comeback in, SR or Spikes still doom you.

Dragonite @ Leftovers
252Attack-180Speed-76Sp. Atk
Jolly Nature
Hidden Power [Flying]
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Thunderbolt / Brick Break / Fire Blast

I'd run an all-physical set if I were you, but sure...

Jolteon @ Leftovers
252 Speed & Sp. Atk-4HP
Timid Nature
Hidden Power (Ice)
Substitute
Thunderwave
Thunderbolt

Okay.

Swampert @ Rest
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Def / 120 SAtk
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)

Hydro Pump / Ice Beam
Earthquake
Rest / Roar
Rock Slide / Ice Beam / Hydro Pump

Chestorest = fail. every time. But, I fixed the EVs and nature. Having it all-physical allows it to get walled by lots of stuff.

Starmie @ Leftovers
252 Speed & Sp. Atk-4 Sp. Def
Timid Nature
Ice Beam
Psychic / Rapid Spin
Surf
Thunderbolt

Fine.

Heracross @ Choice Band / Leftovers
252 Atk & Spd-4 Def
Adamant / Jolly Nature
Brick Break / Focus Punch
Megahorn
Rock Slide
Swords Dance / Sleep Talk / Focus Punch

CBcross is cool. Um, endure + reversal is really fail, but fine by me if you use it...and no salac berry unless you run that set. too situational and unreliable.

Crobat @ Choice Band
252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
Aerial Ace
Hidden Power (Ground)
Shadow Ball
Sludge Bomb

There.

I lost 16 consecutive matches with this team. It's 62% power if anyone wants to know. Crobat does nothing but annoy ME while Heracross is a Physical Nothingness. Starmie and Jolteon clean up messes with Speed and Special Attacks.

No walls, and swampert can't take CBed attacks all day. and lead with Jolteon ;)

EDIT: Penguin, outrage on Dnite is plain stupid in 3rd gen :/

Azonic November 24th, 2007 3:17 PM

Oh, yea. I forgot Outrage only had 90 Power in 3rd Gen. Okay, in that case go with Hidden Power [FLYING] or Dragon Claw.

I'm not sure on this.. But what's so wrong with Aerial Ace? Dragon Claw would be fine. Also, @ Matty101, I would run Fire Blast over t-Bolt. You don't really need Lonely, because the SAtk Stats drop doesn't really matter. Your Nature if fine on it.

Anti November 24th, 2007 3:27 PM

Okay...Netbattle = 3rd Gen. LOGIC!

Meaning special dragon claw is even worse than special outrage to use. and Dragonite NEEDS Jolyl or a speed boosting nature ;)
