Sun Flora Flora!

Okay, I have a female Sunflora rotting away in my PC and just need some suggestions on good move-sets, EV's, and natures. Can you folks help me out?

Sora_8920 November 24th, 2007 3:44 AM

Sunflora (F) @ Leftovers ** Pwning Flower
Trait: Cholorophyll
EV's: 252 Atk / 6 Def / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+Satk, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Sludge Bomb / Hp [Fire]
- Energy Ball. Solar Power won't work since a.) You don't want to lose a Poke. And b.) Sunflora is fragile. Cholorophyll will have to do. Sceptile does this better.

Dark Azelf November 24th, 2007 4:55 AM

Its not the best pokemon with 30 base speed lol

Oh well it can use its speed surprisingly in the sun.

[email protected] / Choice Specs / Choice Scarf
nature: Modest
evs: 6HP / 252ATK / 252SPeed
Trait : Chlorophyll
- Leaf Storm / Solarbeam
- Energy Ball / Sunny Day
- Sludge Bomb / Sunny Day
- Hidden Power Fire

Blegh, you will hit 318 speed in the sun. leftovers if you are setting up the sun yourself with Sunny Day and Solarbeam. Choice Scarf or Specs if you have external Sunny Day support and use Leaf Storm inflicting huge damage and Energy Ball for late game sweeps with that, its like Sunfloras attempt at a Specsmence lol.

El Gofre November 24th, 2007 5:07 AM

what sorta damage does solar power do? could counter-act it with lefties?

When Sunny Day is in effect, this Pokemon loses 1/8 HP per turn, but Special Attack is increased by 50%. So it makes lefties redundant which only restore 1/16 per turn.

Solar Power maybe able to do some good if you baton passed speed to sunflora, meh.

Trust me. Sunflora is one of my personal favorites, but it's terrible. Just became a liability on my team. =[ Don't bother unless it's for an NU team. There, it can do some good I suppose.

Um, you're seriously giving this thing speed EVs with 30 base speed? Maybe if ninjask passed it 6 rounds of speed, but I mean really...

sims796 November 24th, 2007 8:27 AM

If you can pass it speed, she's a monster.

If you use Sunflora, an entire team has to suit it. It will need a speed passer, & a weather setter-upper, namely Sunny Day.

You'd need a lot of things...

I'd just use it maybe for a NU double powder user. I mean, it can't do much else...

Maria Santos November 24th, 2007 9:17 AM

Thanks!

Thanks for help guys! I really Appreciate it!

Your right, hence why I said entire team. But I couldn't explain myself, so thanks for explaining for me.

As I said, it isn't "broken", so to speak. But things must be done to make it powerful. I mean, the power of Choice Specs, with no restrictions? Not bad. Not good, but worth a look.

Samson November 24th, 2007 11:38 AM

even if you pass it speed, it stinks =/

sunflora is the embodiment of poopy monster.

sims796 November 24th, 2007 11:51 AM

I wouldn't say that. I was thinking of a set:

[email protected]
Nature:Calm/Modest
Ability: Solar Power
Solarbeam
Hidden Power [Fire]
Leech Seed
Sludge Bomb/Synthesis/Ingrain/Worry Seed
EV:252 HP/136 SP.ATK/REST SP.DEF

This is my set, If I were to use it. I use UU/NU (Noctowl) very well. Its no saving grace, but it can cause pain.

luke November 24th, 2007 11:56 AM

I used that exact Sims and sadly, it was a failure. It got messed up terribly by everything it faced. How sad that such a cute Pokemon is actually the embodiment of a poopymonster. =[

sims796 November 24th, 2007 11:58 AM

Substitute is also a nice move for the final slot.

I wouldn't call it a failure, not to his face. They said the same thing about Noctowl. I showed them.

Maria Santos November 24th, 2007 12:00 PM

...

Shesh, now I'm having doubts of using Sunflora if its the Embodiment of a Poopy Monster...

Well it kinda is. It's dominated even in NU :0

Samson November 24th, 2007 12:00 PM

noctowl is actually quite awesome, and i gave you full credits for bringing that to everyone's attention. i managed to screw half a team over with one noctowl and it's all thanks to you.

but i beg you, do not try to do the same for sunflora. it is a lost cause.

Anti November 24th, 2007 12:01 PM

At least noctowl can take a hit, pseudopass, and is an EQ resist...

Oh alright. Its on. Its on like popcorn, in the early morn. Now that I have been challenged, I must make a Sunflora. Great. I hope you're happy. Now I gotta miss Heroes.

shedinjask November 24th, 2007 12:45 PM

Solrock @ Heat Rock
252 HP/252 Attk -- Brave -- 0 Spd IVs
Trick Room
Sunny Day
Explosion
Blah

Do it.

Jonbo November 24th, 2007 12:54 PM

I have a Sunflora in my ruby and this moveset works out quite nicely:

Solarbeam
Synthesis
Sunny Day
Sludge Bomb

Sunny day makes solarbeam work in one turn and it makes synthesis heal you more, also its ability Chlorophyll raises its speed tremedusly and that is good because it has horrible speed to begin with, I recomend training it in sp atk and sp def evs, sp atk for obvious reasons and special defense because the types that are bad against it, ie fire, ice, poison, are all sp atk types.

Anti November 24th, 2007 12:56 PM

Poison is a physcial attack type :/ and TTar > Synthesis

Samson November 24th, 2007 1:15 PM

the best that can come of sunflora is perhaps:

Sunflora - Substitute/Leech Seed/Swords Dance/Seed Bomb
