The EV spread needs major improvement.

airconditioning November 25th, 2007 7:26 AM

Those EVs are way out of whack. EVs should focus on a Pokemon's strengths, and should only be seriously invested in 2-3 stats.

Also, moves like Fly and Dig aren't very good. They give your opponent a free turn to make your life hell.

EVs everywhere... Fix please. Make sure they suit the Pokemon, and are divisible by 4. =)

Please don't use Groudon... Nobody here actually rates Ubers unless it's a team for Uber Battles.

Don't use items like Dragon Fang, Mystic Water, Charcoal, etc. They only boost moves of one type by a lousy 10% so they're not worth it. Leftovers is still King of the Hold Items, and its Poison Queen is Black Sludge.

Venusaur @ Black Sludge
Trait: Overgrow
Modest Nature [252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 SDef]
- Energy Ball
- Leech Seed
- Sleep Powder
- Sludge Bomb

It's obviously a Special Tank. Good for late-game sweeping, horrible as lead what with Garchomp, Gengar, and Salamence around every corner.

So what should I use instead of Groudon, and how do I know which EV's work for which pokemon.

Machamp @ Leftovers / Focus Sash
Trait: No Guard
Adamant Nature [252 Atk / 252 HP / 4 Def]
- Ice Punch
- Dynamic Punch
- Thunderpunch / Fire Blast
- Stone Edge / Earthquake / Payback / Bullet Punch

Exploitation of No Guard. Thunderpunch allows physical Boltbeaming, but Fire Blast is especially for Forretress or Skarmory. Yes, yes, 65 base SAtk is lol, but at least those two particular Steels don't have very good SDef. Payback is to be used in tandem with Focus Sash to get rid of Gengar or Alakazam when you bring Champ in. Really surprising, and kinda risky. Bullet Punch lets you go first, so that's always good. =]

Depending on what role each Pokemon plays, the EVs should be adjusted accordingly. Physical Sweepers, for example, usually have 252 EVs in Attack and Speed (252 being the maximum amount that you can put that is divisible by 4).

Hyperbeam
- Hyperbeam and all other forms of Hyperbeam (Roar of Time, Hydro Cannon, Frenzy Plant, etc.) are not to be used. Sure, 150 power seems like a lot of damage but when you do the math, Hyperbeam turns out to be one of the weaker moves out there. Lets see, Hyperbeam needs two turns to complete - One to attack + One to recharge. That means Hyperbeam is inflicting only 75 damage each turn since it takes two turns to complete. 150 Power divided by the number of turns (2) equals 75. 75 Power is not very impressive. Moves like Return, Surf, and Flamethrower will have a much higher power than Hyperbeam will. Note - Hyperbeam is still not to be used even on Slaking. Hyperbeam's second turn of recharging cannot be avoided. That means that you are trapped on the field. In this case, the turn you are trapped and immobile - the opponent can switch out into a Skarmory, Garchomp, or any terrible threat that sets up and sweeps through Slaking.

Fly, Dig, and Dive
- Fly, Dig, and Dive seem pretty good right? It leaves the opponent miss and lets you inflict a good powered move the next turn, right? WRONG. If the opponent predicts well, or on the chance that the opponent is using a faster pokemon, the opponent can utilize that free turn for benefits. For instance, it can pound your field with Stealth Rock, Recover to heal HP, switch out to a pokemon that poses as a threat to yours, THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS. Avoid moves like Fly, Dig, and Dive.

Items
- There are a huge variety of items. But there are items that should never be used. They are items like Miracle Seed, Draco Plate, Charcoal, etc. I must point out that items like those only offer a 10% boost to one move(if you are using your movesets correctly). Items with "Plate" in their name only offer a 20% boost. That boost is very minimal and therefore should be scrapped for items that are useful. Leftovers, Life Orb, etc are good examples of items.

***Your EV Spreads invest in all the stats, which is not good. EVs should only invest in a certain Pokemon's strong points, as airconditioning said. Take your Salamence for example. Think about it, is it really going to need HP EVs or defensive EVs? Chances are that it's not. Even with defesive EVs, it still won't stay on the battle field for long. So only put EVs in a certain strong point of a pokemon. So for Salamence, its obvious that its Attack stat and Speed stats are very good - so invest your EVs in those. But it looks like you're aiming for a Special Attack version of Salamence - which is perfectly fine as its Special Attack is very good also.

Salamence @ Choice Specs
Trait: Intimidate
Nature: Timid
Evs: 252 Special Attack / 252 Speed / 4 HP
- Dragon Pulse
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Hydro Pump

Arsibiyez November 25th, 2007 8:00 AM

Moltres @ Leftovers
Trait: Pressure
Modest / Bold Nature [252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 HP] or [252 HP / 172 Def / 172 SDef]
- Flamethrower
- Roost
- Air Slash / Hidden Power [Ground] / Toxic
- U-Turn / Protect

Make with the Special Sweeping with 2 STAB moves or a Hidden Power and U-Turn for escape purposes, or go for the stall set which goes as following: Toxic -> Protect -> Flamethrower -> Roost -> Protect -> Flamethrower -> Roost -> Protect -> Flamethrower and so on. Watch out for Stealth Rock!!

BTW, sorry for spamming up this thread with separate Pokemon suggestions since my current internet connection doesn't upload posts that are too long. Is it still considered spam even if I'm helping? =/

You need a Spikespinner. Put Donphan in Blastoise's place instead.

Donphan @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
Impish Nature [252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Atk]
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard

This is in the standard moveset, but I suggested what I thought functioned best.

Anti November 25th, 2007 8:50 AM

Um, guys, has anybody noticed this is in Netbattle's format? Meaning that it's most likely a 3rd gen team ;)

And rest is really better on donphan than SR. Recovery FTW.
