Midnight Made a UU/BL Team!

I MADE A UU/BL TEAM! Its UU/BL because I think Hitmonchan and Jynx are BL, not UU. So here it is.

Hitmonchan (♂) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Fire Punch
- Ice Punch
- Thunderpunch
- Mach Punch

Physical Lead/Sweeper, Iron Fist+Punches+Expert Belt=Super Duper Sweeping, I got pwned by one of these today. Not sure on item or EVS of that one though.

Jynx (♀) @ Leftovers
Ability: Forewarn
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Timid nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Special Sweeper, I TOTALLY knew what I was doing when I made THIS

Miltank (♀) @ Leftovers
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Heal Bell
- Milk Drink
- Earthquake
- Body Slam

FEAR THE WRATH OF MOO COW!

Mantine (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP/4 SAtk/252 SDef
Lonely nature (+Atk, -Def)
- Haze
- Rest
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Ground]

Special Wall, Hazer+HP Ground for hitting Vire on switch-ins.

Nidoking (♂) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Poison Point
EVs: 100 Atk/252 Spd/156 SAtk
Hasty nature (+Spd, -Def)
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Megahorn

MixKing, Im not really sure on this guy, he looks good...

Shuckle (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Gluttony
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Encore
- Protect
- Toxic
- Stone Edge

AGH HELP ME IM SCREWED OVER WITH SHUCKLE!

ABYAY December 8th, 2007 11:37 PM

Ya know, that's actually a rather impressive team in my eyes. However a couple "??" things.

If this is going off of D/P, then why would Mantine need Lonely nature and not Mild? Then you could go Modest.

Secondly, I think Wrap on Shuckle rather than Stone Edge would be MUCH better. Trap em in, Encore em, Toxic, and Protect. Simple enough I suppose?

But everything else is pretty nice actually.

luke December 9th, 2007 12:39 AM

He transferred his team from Shoddy, which automatically sets natures to Lonely before the player makes changes. So I'm sure he meant Calm. Now to the team:

Hitmonchan looks good.

Don't use Leftovers on Jynx. Too fragile in my opinion for that. Go with Focus Sash or maybe a Life Orb.

Miltank looks good. Just watch out for Specmagius with Hidden Power [Fighting].

Run 212 HP / 46 SPATK / 252 SPDEF and Calm on Mantine.

Nidoking looks good. That's exactly what I run on one of mine.

Please don't use Shuckle. Please search for other options.

Sora_8920 December 9th, 2007 4:21 AM

I'd like Choice Specs/Scarf on that Jynx set. But probably Specs because a. You have all Special Attacks. and b. You have a Timid Nature.

I'd probably drop one of those punches for Close Combat, if I were you.

Jynx (♀) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Forewarn
EVs: 4 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Focus Blast
- Ice Beam
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Special Sweeper, I TOTALLY knew what I was doing when I made THIS
Since you're running all SAtks on it, it'd be better to make it Modest and Scarf it.

Miltank (♀) @ Leftovers
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 HP/4 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Heal Bell
- Milk Drink
- Earthquake
- Body Slam

FEAR THE WRATH OF MOO COW!
I thought this wasn't UU, but whatever.

Mantine (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP/4 SAtk/252 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Haze
- Rest
- Surf
- Hidden Power [Ground]

Special Wall, Hazer+HP Ground for hitting Vire on switch-ins.
Needs Calm nature, not Lonely.

Nidoking (♂) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Rivalry
EVs: 80 Atk/252 Spd/176 SAtk
Naughty nature (+Atk, -SDef)
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt
- Megahorn

MixKing, Im not really sure on this guy, he looks good...
Naughty Nature and Rivalry does more favor for Nidoking.

Shuckle (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Encore
- Protect
- Toxic
- Stone Edge
Too bad Poison and Steel Types block this thing like no tomorrow ;x

AGH HELP ME IM SCREWED OVER WITH SHUCKLE!

You should probably consider replacing Shuckle with Spiritomb (if that's even UU, I doubt it), Or anything else with Dual-Walling potential. Actually Vespiquen could do your team some good with Pinsir Resistance.

Towlie December 9th, 2007 9:14 AM

Hitmonchan: Close Combat over Mach Punch, or Close Combat over an Elemental punch if you need the Priority. No, Close Combat doesn't gain Iron Fist boost, but does more damage. 180 Base Power for CC, 90 BP for Mach Punch.

Jynx: Make a Lovely Kiss set. Ice Beam/Lovely Kiss/Calm Mind/Substitute. It's about the best Jynx can do, unless you want to put Specs on your set.

Miltank: Miltank should be Body Slam or Return/Curse/Milk Drink/Heal Bell. You don't really need a Cleric though, so the 4th spot is really just a filler.

Mantine: I'd add Toxic over haze, but it's your choice.

Nidoking: That's fine I ran Rivalry on mine. But it does screw you over sometimes, so choice is yours.

Shuckle: Lol. Just go with Knock Off/Encore/Rest/Stealth Rock Support shuckles work best.

Eos Aduro December 9th, 2007 10:12 AM

Switching in Vespiquen in for Shuckle. Mantine WTH? Stupid Shoddy, Im sure I changed that to Calm. Jinx, I kind of made up on the spot randomly, so I was thinking of Lovely Kiss, but that one has actually been doing some damage. But Modest+Scarf looks good.

Vespiquen-Lefties
Carefull-252 HP, 128 Def, 128 Spdef
Attack Order
Roost
Defend Order
Destiny Bond

Maybe?? I have no clue for it.

Iceman3k December 9th, 2007 10:28 AM

Uh, let's stick with this for Vespiquen

Vespiquen @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 160 Atk / 40 Def / 60 SDef
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Heal Order
- U-Turn
- Aerial Ace

Eos Aduro December 9th, 2007 2:17 PM

Actually Iceman, Roost helps Vespiquen more than Heal Order does, it takes away electric weakness and reduces rock weakness.

Gold star for you... Yeah.. I wouldn't have thought of that until' later, because I'm usually rushing when I post.. But yeah, back on-topic, Midnight Winged is right, Iceman.

I thought it was against the rules to say stuff like that?

Anyways, if you're playing UU/BL, Pinsir will give you a lot of trouble. Just make sure Shuckle doesn't get taken out.

luke December 9th, 2007 5:27 PM

Against the rules to suggest replacing a Pokemon who has proven to be more of a hindrance than help? I think not. Don't mini-mod please. I'm pretty acquainted with the rules -- thanks though. It wasn't as if I was being rude. I said I'd prefer to use other UU walls than Shuckle.

Anyway, I have to agree with the notion that Roost is superior to Heal Order.

Eos Aduro December 10th, 2007 5:26 PM

(Hee hee, I powned a OU team with this team 3 times in a row). Shuckle was filler, Im glad hes gone. Although encoring EQ and sending in Mantine was so much fun.

Anti December 10th, 2007 5:28 PM

If you like Encore users, I recommend kadabra (if it's even allowed in UUs lol) for an encore-Zam knockoff. But it works much better in UUs and can really cause havok.

Kadabra's BL. A bit too hard for UU, but not too hard. ;)

Yet you used Milotic and claydol on a UU team...

Anyways, since kadabra is very fragile, you might not be inclined to use it (though turning blisseys and hypnos into CBers gets funner and funner).

And Gligar in UUs is a good wall, the long, forgotten, (lol) gligar. And it can knock off items.

Sora_8920 December 10th, 2007 5:36 PM

Commenting on Gligar, it really obliterated me in a battle with Anti on Netbattle. I failed, horribly. x.x

Eos Aduro December 10th, 2007 5:37 PM

Hmm, well (OMG SEREBII IS CHRISTMASIFIED) I want a mixed wall with Encore whos UU, DEWGONG! Think it could work?

Because you left heracross in against it :/ Brains over Brawn, every time ;)

As for that shuckle replacement, definately somthing that can take hits. I actually think hypno would benefit with pseudo-pasing and wish support.

It can also give para support to help speed up those sweepers.

Sora_8920 December 10th, 2007 5:38 PM

Hmm. I guess. He's really Bulky with Resttalk, so I guess it could work..

Eos Aduro December 10th, 2007 5:41 PM

I want Encroe users though also. FOUND A UU ENCORE MIXED WALL! Say ello to Walrein. I;ve battling this guy, hes quite bulkific.

Anti December 10th, 2007 5:45 PM

???

Hypno has insomnia :/ It can't use rest ubnless it's skill swapped or you use its really terribel ability. Half the fubn of hypno is switching into hypnosis :(

And ah, walrein. Don't know the set well, but I know it works similar to encoring dewgong. It's tough to stop really ;) and yeah, it's very tough in the UU tier.

I was talking about Dewgong. To answer that.

Eos Aduro December 10th, 2007 5:48 PM

Sweetums.

Walrein-LEfties
Bold/Calm-252 HP, EVS depend on nature, I'll figure it out
Encore
Yawn
Ice Beam
Rest

With Miltank to wake him up, this will work

Anti December 10th, 2007 5:52 PM

We hadn't even brought up dewgong :/ Not to mention you didn't specify it ;/

And as for walrein, I'd go surf over rest. Lefties can heal Wall-Z enough, it just need some prediction. Its real purpose is free switch-ins to set up sweepers, or that's what I use it for :P That or setting up the encoring pokemon itself. Walrein accomplished this well, like a UU Suicune almost. In fact, they run very similarly. Jus encore over roar. lol

Midnight first brought it up there, Anti.

Eos Aduro December 10th, 2007 5:53 PM

I did bring Dewgong Anti, and I suppose that works.

Anti December 10th, 2007 5:59 PM

I guess I need to read closer O_o

Wall-Z or spewgong works. (Yeah, I've given them those nicknames for years, even in my superior n00biness.)

Walrein is genrally better though.

Eos Aduro December 10th, 2007 6:01 PM

Well Im in Shoddy, any other changes to be made?

Anti December 10th, 2007 6:02 PM

IT does leave you with a boltbeam weak the size of New York City though :(

Sora_8920 December 10th, 2007 6:03 PM

Well, Clerics aren't as good as they were 4th Gen. So on Miltank, I'd suggest Curse over Heal Bell.

Eos Aduro December 10th, 2007 6:04 PM

True... but in UU, not many good Bolt BEamers roiam the streets. Hey, I had a Bolt Beam weak before too. Hmm, any Bolt Beam resist UU special walls. As they were in 4th Gen? I LOVE Heal Bell on her, Miltank is perfect.

Anti December 10th, 2007 6:09 PM

Why do you ALWAYS say that? Especially when there are more status inducers than ever...

Eos Aduro December 10th, 2007 6:15 PM

Yeaqh a Beller is always nice to have, especially if freeze hax happens randomly. So... Bolt Beam kind of sort of resist special wall, Hypno?

Anti December 10th, 2007 6:22 PM

Hypno would do it :P And light screen / reflect / wish / para support = epic win. But you have to choose to leave some off :(

Eos Aduro December 10th, 2007 6:23 PM

Hmm, I dunno, I like the screens, but I would also like an attacking move...

Anti December 10th, 2007 6:29 PM

Psychic or seismic toss.

Definately give it wish, and the other moves are more personal preference and what ehlps the team the most.

Eos Aduro December 10th, 2007 6:30 PM

Hmm, Psychic looks like a goood idea. So Calm, 252 HP, 252 SpDef, 4 Spatk? And Lefties?

AGH HELP ME IM SCREWED OVER WITH SHUCKLE!

I suppose you could Power Swap with a sweeper, meaning they were inflicting almost no damage against you,

Eos Aduro December 14th, 2007 4:29 PM

Its not really fast enough to do any sweeping, and its limited movepool stops it immediately against many types.

He meant Power SWAP. Unfortunately, Shuckle can't learn Power Swap.

Eos Aduro December 14th, 2007 4:46 PM

Darkknight, he SAID Power Swap. Power TRICK is what he has, and what gives him max 614 attack, but it doesnt really work.

You either took it as Power Trick, or that he meant for Shuckle to Sweep. He was just implying that because a Power Swap was used, the enemy would have uselessly low attack. But I pointed out that it coudn't learn Power Swap.

Eos Aduro December 14th, 2007 8:00 PM

Ooh right my bad. They really should have less the same sounding names.

MegaMushroom07 December 15th, 2007 5:48 AM

Sorry if i've cause trouble...I meant the move which Shuckle learns to swap it's ATK and SATK with the opponent. Not for sweeping, just to reduce the damage it receives.

Faceless* December 15th, 2007 6:15 AM

Replace Stone Edge on Shuckle and give it Wrap, the only one who resists that indirect damaging combo Toxic/Wrap is Gengar

Ive used this in Ou and outstalled a Blissey, It was rather funny, but agonizingly slow.

Both ev spreads allow for over 400 hp, which is enough, allowing for the rest of the evs to go elsewhere.

You may want to put Hidden power Grass on a Moveset, believe me, Lanturn vs Lanturn really is not fun, AT ALL, it goes no where fast lol

Oh yeah Azelf? Try Magnezone VS Magnezone

If you go Walrein, try going with Abomasnow, or try a Hail team. Walrein has Ice Body, heals during Hail

I can solve that problem: Use HP [Fire] and give it a few speed EV's. :P HP [Fire] works well, actually.

Itachi, Magnezone NEVER carries HP Fire, it carriers HP Ice period. If smogon says Magnezone carries HP Fire, I'd call them a bunch of morons

Magnezone VS Magnezone stalls are never expected

Shuckle can not sweep, even with Power Trick. It only opportunity it gets to sweep is when he takes Trick Room which lasts very shortly

Attach Lovely Kiss on Jynx right now

Anti December 15th, 2007 7:54 AM

HP Fire is only really useful, I've found, for beating certain steels like Metagross switching in and Anti-Maggy Forretress sets.

And how often do we see maggy vs. maggy?

Look, a STABBED Thunderbolt does more damage than HP Fire on Metagross

I don't think so, by like, 2.5% lol

Thus proving it useless unless you really hate Forry and Scozor, and even then...

Eos Aduro December 15th, 2007 11:43 AM

Hmm, I'll stick with Walrein. I toyed with Lovely Kiss, but with it being a special sweeper, I decided to go all attacking.

Lady Nicole December 15th, 2007 12:09 PM

Give Shuckle Stealth Rock. And I don't think there's any point in giving it Stone Edge to be honest. I mean, look at its attack power...

Eos Aduro December 15th, 2007 12:11 PM

Meh, its off my team anyways, got replaced by Wlarein, I should probably update the thread...
