The Official Counter Thread

Welcome to the Official Counter Thread. Here is where we can discuss counters to certain pokemon and combos. A list of pokemon and sets will be provided for each counter. Discussion on Weavile will still be held at that thread so keep that all over there.

Rules

• All PC rules apply.
• Do not flame other members for their opinions.
• Stay on topic, and don't drift to another counter until the current one has been finished being discussed.
• When giving a pokemon suggestion, provide a set along with it.
• Enjoy using the list. ^^

CBcross. Give me one pokemon besides weezing, gliscor, and the occasional Jirachi that can counter that thing.

Eos Aduro December 12th, 2007 7:23 PM

Forretress does it with pride, after a Gyro Ball Weavile is gone.

Iceman3k December 12th, 2007 7:23 PM

Dusknoir pisses Heracross off hands down. Honestly, CBCross, is most commonly known for using Focus Punch, and Dusknoir comes in and blocks it.

Also, Jirachi in no way, shape, or form, counters CBCross.

Sorry, I was having a 3rd gen moment :P

Noir can't take night slash and pursuit so well though, and if it switches in on WoW (though most players aren't stupid enough to do that)Noir is TOAST.

I just noticed Im The Chatot Pirate oin your friends list, though i added you as Midnight Winged.

Back to Weavile Counters, try Aerodactyl, works great.

I can't adjust to change, I still think of you under that username :0

And Aero doesn't counter Weavile. It can't switch into ice punch, and many weaviles use focus sash which beat focus sash Aeros anyways. Most run CB anyways.

Shiny December 12th, 2007 7:48 PM

Grats Sabaku you made the thread looks good already

Eos Aduro December 12th, 2007 7:49 PM

Well if they're both leads, Aerodactyl counters it quite well. Aerodactyl being faster hits it hard with Stone Edge, also getting hit with Ice Punch leaves it at one HP, with one HP on an Aerodactyl, I've swept 4 pokes.

Keep in mind a counter has to be able to switch in, though. If they both lead, Aero will come out on top, but it doesn't make it a "counter" by definition.

Eos Aduro December 12th, 2007 7:57 PM

True enough. Hmm, other counters... Oh MAchamp! If it doesnt run Aerial Ace...

Anti December 12th, 2007 7:58 PM

It never does :0

Anything with mach punch that can switch into weavile (or just carries a focus sash) will usually be a counter.

Eos Aduro December 12th, 2007 8:01 PM

Skarm takes it down with a florish.

Syaoran December 12th, 2007 8:23 PM

What exactly is the point of this? more talk about what counters Weavile when we actually have a 7 page thread for it.. and PLEASE don't start going on how Hippowdon / Aerodactyl "counter" Weavile because they don't. All you need to know is in the other thread.

@ thread starter: I suggest making it like the pokemon discussion thread where a specific pokemon is given, so after suggesting (and verifying) numerous counters a different pokemon will be discussed.

ABYAY December 12th, 2007 8:54 PM

I understand the making of this thread; it's designed to get assistance for counters in general.

However, I plan to change the subject; Gyarados is a massive team-destroyer against mine. Does anyone have a CLUE on how to counter, yes, counter, a Gyarados?

Kirioroshi December 12th, 2007 9:30 PM

a Zapdos can be a Gyarados counter.

sims796 December 12th, 2007 9:52 PM

Any speedy electric type. Better yet, post the whole team in a new thread.

I have to agree with Syaoran. Common sense can tell you a poke's counters. My Gya beat Weavile. Does that make him a Weavile counter? Not really. Just that my Gya beat that particular Weavile.

Samson December 12th, 2007 10:31 PM

actually bulky gyara is a pretty good counter to weavile...

XD k back to ignoring this thread.

I have seen Weavile leads with Fake Out, thereby dissmissing the FS on aero.

J-Rad December 13th, 2007 12:20 PM

like syran said, hippodawn can't wall weavile, i can't really see infernape countering it since its frail defs can't really take in a switch unless it resists it, but if the opponet has sash and areail ace ur dead..

But wouldn't a Gyara switch on an electric? I suggest putting an unexpected Rock/Electric move on a Pokemon. Like, say, just for the sake of an example, Rock Slide Forry.

flamehaze94 December 13th, 2007 1:55 PM

The best counters to Gyarados are Slowbro and Quagsire, believe it or not.

yeah that is true.....HP [eletric] from slowbro that CM'd a bit will destroy it, but im curoius on how quagsire counters gyara...

sims796 December 13th, 2007 2:09 PM

Gy awill switch to any move it finds a threat. But Electric is the best counter. I don't think Sire has the power to counter it.

.Aero December 13th, 2007 3:10 PM

Ok, let me clear some things up to those that don't read.

The Weavile Thread was meant to stay. If you read the top paragraph in my post, tou'd know that Weavile discussion wasn't supposed to be here. I guess it's too late for that.

Read the rules people. One pokemon countering at a time. I think we're on Gyarados, but I'm not positive because people keep talking about Weavile.

When listing a pokemon, give the set. It'll make it way easier for me to keep the list updated, instead of me creating a set, posting it, then having people ignore it.

And Hippowdon, enough with it, it'll stay because it has HAPPENED! If it's worked as a counter it's a counter. I don't get what you guys don't understand about that.

You're my friend (I guess you could say) But read my posts. I'm tired of people basically blowing me off becasue they want to talk about something else. We're talking about Gyarados Counters, not Blissey Counters. I don't want this thread to be closed, and I made that rule for one reason. So that this thread stays organized. If people are talking about Blissey and Gyarados at the same time they'll get confused. It's for the sake of ease.

So please people, follow the rules.

luke December 13th, 2007 3:22 PM

Yeah, honestly. I don't know why this thread exists. If you want to know what counters a certain Pokemon, create a team and ask for weaknesses. Then, adjust your team accordingly to assure no single Pokemon wreaks your team. It's impossible to have a perfect team, but you can come close.
