Best Classic Game??

Best Classic Game ??
what'dya think i loved playing Blue it was the best for me ^^

moon December 25th, 2007 6:43 AM

You mean best of the first generation?
Yellow was the first one I ever touched, and it still has its own private spot in my heart. People were jealous of me for having a Pikachu trotting along behind me ^^

Shiny December 25th, 2007 6:55 AM

For my it was Blue, it was my first ever pokemon game, though Silver was my favourtie in general

Binary December 25th, 2007 7:33 AM

Oh...I love yellow and Gold, for me it would be both of them.

Green? The japanese one with the ugly graphics? (so I've heard ^^ )

Cacttus December 25th, 2007 9:55 AM

Yellow it bring's back so many good memories.Plus it was the first Pokemon I ever played.

Jesus Freak Josh December 25th, 2007 4:09 PM

I'd say Blue. It was the first one I got, and I've had it for 7 years now... I'm kinda attached to it... Despite the fact I never play it. :P

I always thought it had the best cover art. That picture of Blastoise just looked spiggin' awesome. Gosh I wish I was a kid again.

shuppet_is_dumb December 25th, 2007 4:13 PM

I liked Crystal. It was the first pokemon game I ever played...

Lunar Fang December 25th, 2007 6:52 PM

I'm with whoever has said crystal.

evilcheese December 25th, 2007 7:46 PM

like fabledawn yellow. it was my first i ever played and touched.

Ayano Katagiri December 25th, 2007 9:04 PM

Yellow > all.

Where else do you get to have a fat Pikachu follow you around? xD

s l u g December 25th, 2007 9:50 PM

Yes that was a best thing having a pikachu behind you.. ^^

Cactus Twist December 28th, 2007 6:13 PM

My first game was yellow, I've had that one for 9 years now, so that one is kinda special, but I ended up playing my Blue alot more, that was the only game where I have ever caught 'em all. But I think on the whole Gold and Silver were better games.

El Gofre December 29th, 2007 7:08 AM

It's gotta be crystal, it makes the huge enviroment that much more interesting. Plus, you get lugia and ho-oh at level 70 :)

Mitch December 30th, 2007 1:25 PM

Mine is Pokemon Crystal and it's also my first Pokemon game

wizzard January 4th, 2008 8:41 AM

i like pokemon blue and silver

Dark Destiny January 4th, 2008 9:44 AM

pokemon yellow, as it was the first i played and also because you could get all starter pokemon that was in blue + red.

Eruption January 4th, 2008 9:45 AM

Gold.

That was the only version of the 1st + 2nd gen I played.

Yuoaman January 12th, 2008 2:05 PM

Yellow, first Pokemon, and first Gameboy, game I ever got, had it for almost 10 years.... Was so great to see my friends so jealous, they had Blue and Red.... Yeah! Though Crystal is my favorite overall.

El Gofre January 12th, 2008 2:32 PM

Crystal, that game was massive and just plain cool, first pokemon animations too.

Red1530 January 13th, 2008 12:19 PM

My favorite game of the first generation is Yellow because it had the best graphics of the generation and it followed the TV Series closely.

Percy Thrillington January 13th, 2008 7:53 PM

Just another thread asking the same thing.

Ah well.

I quite like Blue and Silver. Red and Gold, I don't like because the names weren't cool to me at that time. Yellow and Crystal, I thought was over rated...

Short Range January 14th, 2008 1:20 AM

So this is just for retro Pokemon games right? You should of made it in a general games forum. I guess I'd say Crystal and Yellow. The exclusive versions. ;D

JZ95 January 20th, 2008 1:21 PM

My favorite Classic Game is Red, because it was the first Pokémon game I played,

Granbar January 20th, 2008 1:23 PM

I totally loved Blue when it came out.
But when Silver came out, it really perfected the Pokémon-genre. I think it's still one of the best game ever released.

neonlights February 1st, 2008 9:54 AM

Blue!
Thats the original one for me.

I love Crystal too though.
Im currently playing on that one :)

ultimatelegend5 February 2nd, 2008 9:33 AM

My favorite was probably Blue. It was like so awesome playing pokemon, cuz I didn't know anything and discovered it all on my own

BREAKINGBEN February 2nd, 2008 9:40 AM

My favorite classic of all time is Gold. I got it when I was five and never put it down until the day it corrupted. I still play Crystal and Silver in its honor :).

ultimatelegend5 February 2nd, 2008 10:46 AM

I got Silver the day it came out, it was awesome

Embrace February 2nd, 2008 11:03 AM

Red. Me, Butterfree, Charizard and Snorlax pwned all.

Virtual Headache February 2nd, 2008 4:08 PM

Red and Blue, they always bring back memories.
I also liked Yellow's sprites a lot.

Cloud_85 February 2nd, 2008 4:22 PM

Crystal and Gold Rlz so much. Both were and are incredibles

Tentacruel13 February 2nd, 2008 5:27 PM

Red, Silver, and of couse Super Mario Bros.

[~Charmander~] February 2nd, 2008 6:23 PM

Pokemon Gold - Changed Pokemon games forever.

Stardust February 2nd, 2008 8:21 PM

Gold was very original in my opinion.

Super Mario on Nintendo (the first one ever, which I own), was sooo fun. The music is too cute.

Oh great, now I feel like going to dig up my Nintendo and start playing.

lostprophetsown February 12th, 2008 3:06 PM

yellow lol... about 2 or 3 weeks ago i was playing pokemon yellow it was the best so basic and yet so enjoyable.... apart fromt he sprites going loco and just running awaw forever and stand on the doors...

Legobricks February 13th, 2008 7:50 AM

Classic is Red, Blue, Green and Yellow, yes?

Having all except Green, I'd say Yellow, even though I've never really played it much. I was well into Crystal by the time I got it. xD

Glacier February 14th, 2008 2:07 AM

I Loved yellow it was my first video game ^^ unfortnately my stupid little cousin destroyed it along with 5 gamecube games (sobs at memory of first level 100 Zappy! the Zapdos..)

SonicJump February 14th, 2008 3:27 AM

I absolutely love Pokémon Gold - just because after completing it you could go back to the Kanto regions.

Pokémon Blue will always be in my heart. When Pokémon was new, it had that butterflies-in-the-stomach effect because it was so new to people and I love the first generation so much!

Sushi. February 14th, 2008 5:39 AM

The best classic pokemon game would be Yellow and Gold there were best color in it that game.

mattfeeder18 February 14th, 2008 2:57 PM

Yellow was good, but just too 'Animé' like. I wanted somethin new, thats where Silver comes in. Im with you lot who like Silver the best, if there are many of you...

Sweet Candace February 14th, 2008 3:34 PM

Crystal. Some important things came out of Crystal:
-Animations
-Playable Girl Character
-Ability to catch Ho-Oh AND Lugia

Crystal rules, Red and Yellow in a tie for second

Andelc February 20th, 2008 3:18 AM

Red version was the best and my first video game that I owned
its my favorite pokemon game and probably my favorite video game too

02magnus February 20th, 2008 4:01 AM

Red Rules :D And crystal

zachs06 February 20th, 2008 5:09 PM

Red and crystal were definatly the best.

Tanro February 24th, 2008 8:56 AM

Blue was my favourite and still is to a point. It was the only game I completed the pokedex without sharking, and well I never completed another dex without using VBA. I also had a real mew on that game, yah know the nintendo event one. Then silver came along, I had gold as well, but let my friend borrow that one at an almost permanent basis so I would have a friend playing gen II with me. I miss the G/S/C generation. That was back in the day when I had memorized every pokemon 1-151 its evolution, how it evovled, and its number. Then my mom (what a *****) through away my gameboy color, link cables, gameshark, and pokemon blue, silver, gold, red, and yellow.

Now out of all that all that she payed for was Silver and Gold the day they came out. Me and my friend wanted to rent them but, the had all rented out so she bought them for us instead. We didnt even ask her to do that. Wierd how sometimes she was really nice then sometimes she be so evil.

Route 34 February 24th, 2008 9:57 AM

I think everyone has a sentimental attachment to their first Pokémon game (Blue for me) or perhaps the first one that they put time into and completed, but from the RBY generation I must admit that Yellow is the best game due to the additional features (notably a Pikachu in tow!)

However the "best classic game" has to go to Gold (or perhaps Silver because of Lugia). They remain the best Pokémon games and two of the best games I've ever played.

Crystal is also excellent but I wasnt much of a fan of the Eusine plot or Unown messages having already played Gold. If the mobile phone system was implemented outside of Japan then Crystal would have been amazing.

Gold and Silver have great characters, mind-blowing ideas, a good story, flawless gameplay, excellent map design, and after all that you get to revisit the Kanto region that you know and love.

Incredible.

I do believe Gold, but more so Silver were the best classic games. The only major downside to them, that i can think of, is not being able to legitmately get Celebi on your game without using a cheat cartridge. (not quite sure about Events that included it.) Its similar to Mew in RBY, but at least there was an 'ingame' glitch that alowed you to get him...

That's true actually, being able to catch Celebi in Gold/Silver would have been nice. Despite the glitch providing "legitimate" Mew ownership in RBY I think that attending the Nintendo event (and indeed pleading with your parents until they agreed to take you to one) was all part of the fun from that generation. I don't think the glitch was publicised until way after that time anyway. As a boy I loved the way that Nintendo Official Magazine hyped up the Mew events in the UK.

Quarab58 March 1st, 2008 4:15 PM

Yellow was my first, so I suppose that has to be my favorite. I somehow lost it, though. :< All I have now is Blue, which is great, but... it's no Yellow XD

Uruss March 1st, 2008 10:09 PM

Red!

Red version...my first pokemon game

Spiron March 1st, 2008 10:45 PM

As previously said, I was attatched to my Red and Yellow versions. However, im my honest opinion, Gold was the best classic game. Upon playing Gold, there was no turning back. It had a brilliant storyline that totally out-done the 1st generation games.

Yumichan March 1st, 2008 10:47 PM

Gold was the first Pokemon game I ever played, so that has a special place in my heart and it's definitely my favorite. Yellow is amazing, as well. Nothing beats having a cute little Pikachu follow you everywhere ^^

BeachBoy March 1st, 2008 11:09 PM

Ill agree with yumi on this one, gold was pretty instant classic, I really loved blue, my first game and have the majestic feel and all...

But gold had something that I cant really say, not sure, but yeah my favorite and best classic game ;D

Blargtastic808 March 1st, 2008 11:27 PM

Same. Blue was my first, where I learned about the wonder and win that is Pokemon. Started with Bulbasaur who became one of my very favorite pokemon. But Gold, now that was a game. Going back to revisit the Kanto region really just made the GSC series one of the best generations of Pokemon games.

I would love to see Gamefreak and Nintendo to remake the GSC series like how they did FR and LG. If they did that I think it would bring back the fans of the classic games for sure.

Evoslingerr March 2nd, 2008 1:16 PM

For me it was Yellow, its graphics were way to cool for the 1995 i think? well anyway i loved the blastoise graphic

sure man, i mean i they ever get to make other pkmn game (of course they will, but their running out of elements and rocks to base their names on) it would be excellent to meet all the 4 regions again in a single game

neonlights March 3rd, 2008 11:45 AM

Blueeee!!
It just has to be. I loved that game the first time i played on it.

ShadowofTime01 March 3rd, 2008 11:59 AM

Mine was definitely Blue, and then Yellow, and Silver.

Best non-pokemon game of the Gameboy generation: Solar Striker. Followed by Double Dragon and Castlevania. But i assume this is just the best classic pokemon game thread.

JacobGRocks March 3rd, 2008 12:24 PM

Pokemon Gold and Silver are the best. except when the battery dies

Lolz turtle March 4th, 2008 5:03 PM

red and silver. good times with red misty used to wipe the floor all over with me because i only used a pidgeotto and a a charmeleon, actually got to lvl 40 battling oddish and abras to no end, i was such a newbie.

but then again, it was fun and charizard kiled her starmie ^^

Hotaru March 13th, 2008 6:48 PM

This is a tough choice. D: But I'm going to go with Red, since it was my first Pokemon game. Yellow and Silver have special places in my heart too, for nostalgia's sake. :]

Aw, I did too. :D I remember how excited I was.

SpartanMalice March 15th, 2008 2:26 AM

First Gen: Red
Second Gen: Crystal

starmii3 March 15th, 2008 2:47 AM

My first was yellow! I still sometimes play it today. It would be nice if it had all the pokemon that it didnt back then!

Philman March 15th, 2008 7:13 PM

the first game I ever played was a rent-GBC and Pokemon Yellow. It was amazingly addicting... this was around 1999.

then I got Red. But I'll have to say Red & Blue are the best out of the original batch. They're the originals. They also don't feel as "kiddish" as Yellow... but in general, Yellow IS a better version (color for GBC, better graphics, harder)

I actually disliked the fact that the game followed the TV series closely... for one thing... the games are the originals. Having that same game modified to fit something that was based off of THE GAME cheapens it severely.

bob_saget March 15th, 2008 8:15 PM

Mine is also Crystal, but it wasn't my 1st game.

(I'm playing it right now in between watching Ratatouille on my computer. (Which is a surprisingly good movie!))

Virtual Chatot March 15th, 2008 8:31 PM

Gold and Silver, For The Win!

TY_old March 21st, 2008 8:00 PM

Red,yellow, and sliver was the best for me and I play red sometimes since it was first one I got.

Kuri March 22nd, 2008 1:31 PM

Silver was the first pokemon game I ever owned and I spent 250+ hours on that thing.

I never owned the 1st generation games because my mom wouldn't buy me one. hahaha but I think that even if I did, silver would still be my top choice.

Ashay March 31st, 2008 7:12 AM

I grew up with Red, but my brother had yellow. When he lost interest in it I tried it and it was a bit more fun than Red. Mostly because of Pikachu :D

Classic-red April 2nd, 2008 11:39 AM

Gold was a great game, but i love pokemon red, i have 2 pokemon red cartridges ^^

Cartmic April 3rd, 2008 3:10 AM

Yellow was and still is my favorite.

Scales April 3rd, 2008 7:08 AM

My favorite classic pokemon game is Crystal since I got it before Gold and Silver. I liked the main character design more in Crystal then in Gold/Silver. It made him look less like a bully.

Anyway my first pokemon game was Red. However I hardly play it now

Yoshimad123 April 3rd, 2008 7:17 AM

Red. It was my first and favourite Pokemon game.

Ember April 3rd, 2008 8:11 AM

yellow, cyrstal =) I love the pikachu walk at my back =) I wish I can walk with charizard in Diamond and pearl =)
