I've reconstructed my team to make it Ghost-proof for my Gym battle with Fantina, right now i'm leveling up my Vespiquen and Mr. Mime. =D

TrainerMatt August 21st, 2008 12:25 AM

I made two posts in this thread and none of them showed up. : \

I restarted Diamond, and was going to Soft Reset to get a female Turtwig. LOLZ! Lucky me. The FIRST Turtwig is Female. Now I can finally have a Torterra with Woodhammer. <3

As I do in all my Sinnoh journies, I caught a Shinx and Starly. Forgot how powerful Starly are at low levels, especially with Wing Attack. Shinx is pretty bad until it learns Bite then Spark. Got to Oreburgh and decided between catching a Machop or Geodude. I caught a Geodude. Now my team is like this:

Turtwig - Level 11
Shinx - Level 11
Starly - Level 11
Geodude - Level 8

Think I'm gonna get Geodue to level 11 to balance my team before I fight Roark.

Virgil Hunter August 21st, 2008 1:49 AM

Ponyta, Azurill and Meditite.

Those are the Pokemon Hayley wanted me to bring to the ranch. Ponyta and Meditite were easy, but i realised that Azurill has a 1% appearance rate in the Great Marsh.
I looked for it in the area it was supposed to be in and i couldn't find, so i went to the Skorupi area cause i wanted one. =D
I ran into an Azurill and caught it with one Safari Ball. I was pretty happy...

Raising a Shelgon to become a DDMence now... I swear, it was easier training new Pokes after they were done with EV training before I caught Heatran... everyone leveled up after that x.x

Pokemon Pearl Journal

Snowpoint City Gym Battle, Part 1

August 18, 2008

So, once again, I am long overdue for another gym badge. I've changed up my team a bit for the upcoming challenge. I had Haley send me my Machoke and Graveler because they both have yet to evolve and can use the experience. Also, Machoke's strong fighting-type moves will be super-effective against ice-type pokemon. But how many different pokemon will there be? I've only seen two ice-types in Sinnoh, Snover and Sneasel, but I've heard Sneasel can evolve in Sinnoh. Snover is part grass-type, so Pelipper and its Wing Attack would also help. Maybe they'll be some water-types that can use ice moves, so I took Cherrim for that scenario. Meditite can use Force Palm and paralyze opponents, and also can use a devastating but risky High-Jump Kick in a pinch. And my last spot, of course, is for my shiny Barboach with its Surf and Earthquake.

I gave all the pokemon a little warm-up training in the icy areas around Snowpoint City. As we were out there, we noticed Team Galactic near the entrance to Lake Acuity. Just as Prof Rowan thought, they're definitely up to something here. They're probably after the legendary pokemon like that Galactic Commander said. Nothing I could do for now, so I headed back to the Pokemon Center to rest up my pokemon.

Later that afternoon, I went into the Snowpoint Gym. There was a little ice-sliding puzzle to deal with to clear a path to the gym leader. (Old Wattson back in Hoenn would be proud of this set up!) There were plenty of trainers to give my team a taste of what I might be up against. As I suspected, in addition to a handful of Sneasel and Snover, most of these trainers had water-type pokemon such as Flotzel that can learn ice-type moves as well. And, ironically, one trainer had a Steelix. (THAT was completely unexpected.) Finally, after figuring out the gym's puzzle, I made it to Candice, the Snowpoint City Gym leader.

SNOWPOINT GYM CHALLENGE: vs. CANDICE!

It was a 4 on 4 battle, no time limit, substitutions allowed. Up to 1 Full Restore or lesser recovery item may be used by each side during the battle. Hold items allowed.
I decided to start out strong. "Machoke, maximize!" Candice sent out Snover. Ok, so far, this is predictable. "Machoke, get ready!"

Hail started to fill the battlefield due to Snover's Snow Warning ability. Snover started out using Leer to lower Machoke's defense. Not a problem. "Vital Throw!" Machoke closed in on Snover and threw it hard to the ground. It was unable to withstand the force of the fighting-type move. Snover was unable to battle!

"Good job, Machoke!" I figured it would be best to save such a tough combatant for later in the match. I called Machoke back. "Return, take a rest."

Candice then decided she needed to put the pressure on, so she sent out her strongest pokemon: Abomasnow! Ok, that's cool. Apparently, Snover has an evolved form. But now's not the time to admire it. It still looks like it's part grass-type, so...

"Go get 'em, Pelipper!" Being part water and part flying, Pelipper should resist both ice and grass moves well enough.

"Wing Attack, let's go!" Pelipper dived in and landed a hit, but the large pokemon seemed to shrug it off.

"Abomasnow, use Grasswhistle!" commanded Candice.

"Pelipper, quick, try to dodge!" But it was too late. Pelipper drifted off to sleep from the soothing tune. Not to mention, it was taking damage from the falling hail. Ok, I need to change tactics, or this is going to be a slaughter.

AHH, I've been breeding for over 4 hours to get a Dratini with 31 attack AND speed IVs, but so far I'm lacking the attack. I have the 31 speed IVs, so I'm all good there, but it's so hard.. T^T

If you have a legal rom downloading system, the packaging that came with it should give you a URL to download roms.

Also, if you're not already aware, writing in complete capitals is considered rude as it is an Internet Term for yelling. I'm not trying to act like a mod, I point it out to people as it annoys myself and most probably other people.

As for my journey, there is no work to be done today, so I'll be spending time evolving my Pokémon now. I would like to at least get them all to level 18 before I even think about challenging Gardenia.

Defeated all gym leaders. Caught Uxie and Azelf but didn't catch Mesprit as it fainted. Not too bothered about that. I am now training up Azelf, Uxie and Dialga to Level 59 to match my Infernape, Torterra and Empoleon. Then I will battle the Elite Four.

LethalTexture August 22nd, 2008 12:31 AM

Just missed out on a Shiny Mew UT in the GTS twice. ._.

Swift! August 22nd, 2008 1:06 AM

Changed up my team to make it "nearly" resistant to Fantina's Ghost Pokemon.

Monferno
Luxray
Roselia
Floatzel
Vespiquen
Mr. Mime

They are only levels 30 and 31, i'm going to need to get them all to at least level 35. I'll send Luxray up against Drifblim because it isn't as useful as Floatzel and Mr. Mime, Gengar and Mismagius are pretty much the same so i'll keep Luxray out and use bite until he faints. Then out comes Floatzel who will do the same... and i should be able to finish her off with Mr. Mime.
Monferno, Roselia and Vespiquen will be back-ups.

Ryuzaki_Lawliet August 23rd, 2008 9:26 AM

Well, I'm training right now.

Egg
Ponyta lv.34 (hunting down Veilstone city 2 get fire stone)
Floatzel lv. 34

Ponyta knows Ember,Firespin,Takedown,Agility.

Floatzel knows Aqua Jet, Pursuit, Swift and Agility.

When they get the opportunity to learn new moves, agility will be gone for both. Unless it's a water move 'cuz i'll give up aqua jet, or a fire move 'cuz then Ember will go bye. Empoleon and Azumarill are in the day-care getting their movesets all awesome-d up for the upcoming fifth gym battle!

Matzzz August 23rd, 2008 10:44 AM

Just recently Ev'd my Starmie, the first poke ive Ev trained :O

now im trying to get an ice beam Tm .... stupid games corner lol

Ryuzaki_Lawliet August 23rd, 2008 10:49 AM

Well, instead of landing in Veilstone, I wound up in Pastoria. Now I'm gonna try to hunt down that city again. I wanna fire stone! And i don't wanna spend hours tryin' to get one underground. I'm cursed. I have stone-a-phobia..

Edit- I just biked by Dr. Footsteps house.....But I don't want him to see Buzzi or Pony's Footsteps just yet. They need to be trained and given Poffins before I can go there (or enter contests!! XD)

Disappointed Edit- They don't sell any type of stones in Veilstone!?!?! I don't want to go underground but it leaves me no choice..........

Angelic Diablo August 23rd, 2008 4:42 PM

Umm Ponyta evolves at level 40 not with a Fire Stone...

Anyway restarted my Pearl game, used the WiFi room to get myself a different pokemon to start with, thus my team at Roark is...

Absol level 16
Starly level 12

Exciting stuff isn't it, will get more pokemon once I work out who I want on my team

Ryuzaki_Lawliet August 24th, 2008 3:16 PM

Oh, thanks, I'll have to keep training. And to think I almost went to the dreaded underground...

Empoleon's now level 43!

And, I'll be off Diamond for quite a while, as I found PMD blue that had been lost for so long ^^

But, eh, trying to train a level 24 Gerafarig named Ralph (sorry cant spell it's that thing with two heads.).. Psybeam and Bite as the only attack moves. This can't go well.

And, good luck! Awesome luck getting an absol..

Angelic Diablo August 24th, 2008 9:13 PM

Heheh yeah having both Diamond and Pearl has it's advantages (as well as access to 2 DS' since you can trade via the union room before you can by wifi

Anyway team update, beat Roark suprisingly easy with Critical hit scratchs on all his pokemon, I feel so haxy.

Took to the road, battled Team Galatic out of the Valley Windworks, past through Eterna Forest, made my way down through Eterna City, beat Gardenia with ease and then stormed the Team Galatic building they have there to rescue the pokemon that were stolen.

Team is:-

Absol level 21
Staravia level 20
Vulpix level 18
Bidoof level 3 (HM Slave)

Tigger August 26th, 2008 4:12 AM

I'm getting myself all confused with Egg Move breeding. And have got so many Pokemon I need to evolve. My little brain can't handle all the 'To-Do' list. I think I need a Pokemon break . . .

Snowpoint City Gym Battle, Part 2

"Abomasnow, use Grasswhistle!" commanded Candice.

"Pelipper, quick, try to dodge!" But it was too late. Pelipper drifted off to sleep from the soothing tune. Not to mention, it was taking damage from the falling hail. Ok, I need to change tactics, or this is going to be a slaughter.

"Pelipper, return! Ok, Machoke, come on back out!" Machoke rejoined the battle, just in time to take a Woodhammer attack from Abomasnow! Really, I should have seen that coming. Machoke staggered a bit, reeling from both the hit and the falling hail, but got up. Abomasnow then used Swagger to both confuse Machoke and raise its attack power.

"Come on, Machoke, focus, you can do it!" Machoke was struggling as the hail continued to hurt it. "Break through that confusion, and use Vital Throw!" My faith in Machoke was well placed, as it grabbed the unsuspecting Abomasnow, and, with a boost from the Swagger attack, crashed it hard against the ice. But will it be enough?

"Abomasnow is unable to battle," said the judge. "Machoke wins!" Two down, two to go.

One more hit and it looks like Machoke might faint too. I returned it to its pokeball. "Thanks, Machoke, you did a great job." I pulled out my next pokeball. "Barboach, maximize!"

Out came my Barboach with its usual shiny sparkle. Candice sent out her Medicham next. Interesting. A psychic-fighting-type in an ice-type gym. I never expected this. My best bet would be Pelipper, but oh yeah, its still asleep.

"Medicham, Force Palm!" Barboach took the hit hard, but we've spent a lot of time working on its defense.

"Hang in there, Barboach! Show 'em your Surf!" Water came crashing down onto Medicham, but didn't take as much damage as I had hoped. Ok, so we still need to work on special attack power. Barboach can't take another hit like the last one, especially with the hail falling. At least this time, it's also hurting Candice's Medicham.

Time for another switch. I need a flying-type move. "Good work, Barboach. Return!" I have to risk it. "Pelipper, come on out!" My pokemon emerged from its pokeball, still sleeping from earlier.

Candice had Medicham use Ice Punch. I figured it had to know an ice-type move. Pelipper seemed to take the hit well, but still wouldn't wake up. Hail continued to pound away at it, while Medicham used Detect to avoid damage. Pelipper can't take this for much longer!

"Medicham, let's finish this battle. One more Ice Punch!" yelled Candice. The punch hit, but this time, Pelipper's eyes opened!

"Alright, Pelipper! Let's get back in this game with your Wing Attack!" Pelipper summoned up all the energy it had, and landed a solid hit! BOTH Pelipper and Medicham look like they're about to fall!

"Quick Attack, Pelipper!" Ok, come on. That was such a well-timed move. But anyone who battled a gym leader knows what happens when a pokemon gets in the red. Yes, Candice used a Full Restore on Medicham, completely healing it like it hasn't battled at all yet. Pelipper, on the other hand, succumbed to the hail and fainted.

"You did your best Pelipper," I said as I returned it to its pokeball. Ok, I have a wounded Barboach, a barely standing Machoke, or I can send out my final pokemon. I still have an item I could use on one of them. But I need to buy time to be able to do that effectively.

pokelantis August 26th, 2008 2:11 PM

i likepokemon i have like 4 games i think

Ninetales1 August 26th, 2008 2:36 PM

Diamond

1. I got my seventh badge. The battle was pretty easy--I came prepared with a team of Level 45 Fire and Flying-type Pokemon, and was able to OHKO all of Candice's Pokemon. I still find it weird that an Ice-type gym leader has a Medicham...

2. The Galactic Warehouse quest was pretty easy, since all my Pokemon were level 45. I had hardly any trouble beating Cyrus then... plus I had fun coming back with different Pokemon teams to let all 40-something of my level-45 Pokemon (or almost all of them) have a chance to fight. And I got a Master Ball--w00t!

3. Then once I got through Mt. Coronet, things got hard. I went in there with the following team:
Blissey, lv45, Female {Florentine} Charm, Softboiled, Sweet Kiss, Flamethrower
Gabite, lv47, Female {Saphira} Dragon Claw, Dragon Rage, Sandstorm, Dig
Lucario, lv46, Male {Zorro} Aura Sphere, Close Combat, Me First, Dark Pulse
Girafarig, lv45, Female {Primrose} Zen Headbutt, Assurance, Psychic, Stomp
Floatzel, lv46, Female {Ginny} Crunch, Aqua Jet, Ice Fang, Surf
Graveler, lv27, Female {Pebbles} Rock Smash, Rock Climb, Strength, Selfdestruct (HM slave obviously)
First of all, Cyrus was hard to beat this time. I expected his Weavile to be the hard part, but Zorro KO'd him with one Aura Sphere. The hard part was Crobat, his last Pokemon; I barely won that battle with only Saphira surviving. Then I had to face Dialga right afterward! I had to use some Hyper Potions and Revives before facing Dialga...

4. The battle with Dialga. It was a good thing I brought along my Lucario, for he really helped. Zorro was the only one of my Pokemon who was able to withstand Dialga's Roar of Time and be faster than Dialga, and on top of that his Aura Sphere/Close Combat were super-effective. In fact, the first time I faced Dialga, I accidentally KO'd Dialga with an Aura Sphere. So on the second try, I let some of my other Pokemon wear Dialga down (they were KO'd by Roar of Time afterward), then stalled with Zorro while I threw balls at Dialga. The first three Ultra Balls failed (I had to heal Zorro twice inbetween), but then I threw a Great Ball and caught it. And this was Dialga at pretty much 1HP with no status problem. Wow, first legendary I ever caught with a Great Ball!

5. Something funny happened in the GTS. Way back last September I got the event Manaphy in both Diamond and Pearl. Then for some reason I wanted to transfer my Manaphy in Pearl to Diamond, so I decided to try it with the GTS. So in Diamond I put a Machoke into the GTS, asking for a Manaphy in return. I went over to Pearl and searched the GTS for my Machoke... but couldn't find it! I waited a few days, checked back... and still couldn't find it! Even after a month I couldn't find it... so then I just gave up and forgot about the Machoke. Around that time, I missed the Darkrai event whereas my friend had missed the Manaphy event, so I traded the Manaphy I had in Diamond for his Darkrai. Well, I lost my Diamond Manaphy, but at least I got Darkrai, right...? Anyway, about two months later, I finally remembered I had a Machoke sitting in the GTS, so I went to take it out. But instead of getting my Machoke back, I got a Manaphy!!! It was level 50 and looked perfectly legit (it looked like it had been leveled up from the Ranger egg). I guess someone wanted Machamp really badly...

6. Yeah yeah yeah, I did some training in Mt. Coronet after all the above events. Currently I'm working on getting all my Pokemon to level 50, before going for my eighth badge. A few of my Pokemon reached level 50 so far. My new Dialga was the first, then Quagsire, then Alakazam. I'm currently training a few of my Psychics in Mt. Coronet... plus a Skuntank for some reason.

7. Then I did some trades with my other friend. He had a Spiritomb and an Eevee and bred the two (separately, because they can't breed together) and made eggs. Then he traded me the Spiritomb egg for my Skorupi. Well, I went to hatch the egg, and it turned out that my friend had given me the wrong egg! He gave me the Eevee one by mistake! No wonder the egg took so long to hatch... Well at least I got an Eevee.

8. I decided to level that Eevee up and evolve him to Glaceon. Then I traded the Glaceon for my friend's baby Spiritomb (he hatched it and said, "Whoops! I gave her the wrong egg!"), and my Stunky for his Phione. (I don't have Ditto yet, so I can't get a Phione of my own...)

9. I caught a Mantyke, and decided to add a Shieldon another friend traded me to my list of Pokemon to train. Also, I used to keep all my training Pokemon in two boxes, but I expanded thse two boxes into three so they're less crowded. I swear I have about 50 Pokemon I'm training right now... So now, I'm trying to get a Shieldon, Mantine (she evolved the day I caught her), Spiritomb, and Phione to level 50, which will be painstaking... they're currently level 20-30. But the good thing is that the Spiritomb is female, so I can breed her if I need more Spiritombs in the near future!

Pearl

I've been doing a lot less in Pearl ever since I got the National Dex, but...

1. Whenever I find an event Pokemon, I get one in Diamond and one in Pearl. I did that for Manaphy, and I did that for a Deoxys. But my friend, who recently got Pearl, missed out on both those events, so I traded him the Manaphy and Deoxys I have in Pearl. At least I still have them in Diamond. I also traded him a Ditto I had migrated from my Leaf Green. (Bonus: My friend later bred the Ditto with the Manaphy and traded the Phione that resulted to my Diamond.) For those Pokemon, I got a Bidoof, a Chimchar, and a Piplup.

2. Since I already have Empoleon, I put my new Piplup in the GTS asking for a Turtwig. I got one the following day--a Japanese one at that. <3

3. My friend doesn't have the National Dex yet, but since I do, I helped him migrate some Pokemon from his Ruby. Among them were a Ninetales and a Sharpedo; can't remember the rest... Anyway, I just migrated them to my Pearl and then traded them to his Pearl for some Starlies and Bidoofs. Whoopee.

OffRoadSP August 26th, 2008 6:00 PM

Awesome journal entry, Ninetales. Good to see someone close to where I am in their journey. Of course, your pokemon are much higher levels than mine, mine are levels 36 - 42. I went into Snowpoint City with pokemon under level 39, to make it more of a challenge.

Snowpoint City Gym Battle, Part 3

"You did your best Pelipper," I said as I returned it to its pokeball. Ok, I have a wounded Barboach, a barely standing Machoke, or I can send out my final pokemon. I still have an item I could use on one of them. But I need to buy time to be able to do that effectively.

"Ok, Barboach, help me out!" With Barboach out, I used a Hyper Potion on Machoke's pokeball. Meanwhile, Medicham finished Barboach off with its Force Palm.

"Barboach is unable to battle. Medicham wins!" called the judge. So the match is tied at 2 a piece.

"One more time, Machoke!" I tossed its pokeball. The hail pounded down on both pokemon on the field, but Machoke was now as refreshed as Medicham was. Fighting attacks won't work well against Medicham normally, but Machoke knows a fighting-type move that can get around an enemy's defense.

"Medicham, Force Palm!" ordered Candice. Perfect. Medicham got in nice and close and connected with the attack.

"Alright Machoke, grab it quick, then Seismic Toss!" Machoke jumped in the air, spinning with Medicham in its arms, and plowed it into the ground. The hail continued to fall. Candice had Medicham go with Force Palm again, and again Machoke used Seismic Toss to counter. Both pokemon had a hard time getting up. They struggled, and it looked like either one may fall back down...

Then both got hit by hail, and collapsed!

"Both pokemon are unable to battle!" ruled the judge. And I thought ties only happen in the anime.

Final battle time. One pokemon left each. Hopefully my last choice is a good match. I pull the pokeball out of my pocket.

"I'm going to break the ice and bring out my last resort pokemon!" exclaimed Candice. "Go, Sneasel!" A Sneasel. I smiled. I chose well.

"Meditite, I choose you!" Meditite appears, ready for battle. Sneasel moved quickly across the battlefield, and connected with a Slash attack. Meditite shook it off.

"My turn to use that move. Force Palm, Meditite, let's wrap this up!!" Of course, Force Palm is a devastating attack to the dark-and-ice-type Sneasel!

The judge raised his arm. "Sneasel is unable to battle. The battle goes to the challenger, Steve and his Meditite!"

"Great job, Meditite!" I looked over, and Meditite was glowing. It evolved into a Medicham! And I finally won my 7th Sinnoh badge, the Icicle Badge!

"I must say I've warmed up to you!" Candice said as she handed me the badge. "I even admire you a little."

Seven badges. One to go. But first, I better see what Team Galactic is up to at Lake Acuity...

126. Medicham

Defeated the Elite Four the first time round. And I am still having trouble finishing my PokeDex. I need to find the Pokemon after Snorlax in the PokeDex, and then I need to see Drifbloon.

I was at my friends house yesterday. We battled, unfairly. He used level 70's and all I had was level 50's. Anyway, I finally got Rayquaza and Kyogre, for my Pokedex. He got Rypherior from me. Then I went back to EV training my Crobat.

training new tower team and going back

Forci Stikane August 28th, 2008 5:59 AM

Recent stuffz:

-Finally taking a real shot at the Battle Tower. So far I've only lost one Pokemon due to a bizarre string of hax (confused by crit Water Pulse, hurt self, critical hit). Still won, though.

-Doing lots of breeding that I never finished. I was breeding for a specific Eevee when I already had a great one from an earlier project. -.-; Two weeks wasted. DX

-Finally shifted enough Pokemon around to empty and reset Ranch (the actual moving around happened on D/P, so I say it counts. =O).

-I have yet to run into a second Shiny on my game, even after all of the breeding and playing I've done.

He Trembles on Your Breath August 28th, 2008 7:48 AM

1. I finally manged to get to rank two in the WiFi rooms in battle tower :D.

2. At the GTS someone traded my level 7 Wyanut for a level 61 Infernape, which I was overjoyed at at, but thoroughly confused at their motives at the same time.

3.I've been training Espeon whilst trying to make a new record on my pokeradar(no such success, I must add)

4.Thought I would breed my Snorlax with Ditto and try to get a Munchlax, I got a baby Snorlax :( .

5. I'm now going to get Blastoise and Torterra to level 100.

I've only hatched one female and evolved her into Espeon immediately due to her nature (timid).
And Mr. Backlot hates me. I've resetted a million times and he still won't say that he saw an Eevee. D: He's said every Pokemon but. I'm suprised the power button on my DS hasn't just snapped off yet.

Unlucky... I got got Eevees in Mr.Backlot's Garden a couple of day's ago :D. Didn't really need them, I just breed from existing Eevee evoulutions I have.

Dark Destiny August 28th, 2008 9:33 AM

Breeding Eevees are better than catching pokemon in the garden unless you are very lucky at catching one.

1. Finally EV trained my Garchomp, ready to use in battle tower

2. Saving up at battle tower for Earthquake to put on Dragonite (1/4 way there)

3. Caught a Murkrow, evolved, lvled till it learned nasty plot

4. Bred with togotic?(cant spell) to get togepi's with nasty plot

5. after 3 hrs i had a reasonally good Togepi

6. About to level up Togepi and EV train it

My team and I powered our way through to Hearthome and onto Solaceon Town, then I continued up the path battling and training my team til I got to Veilstone City, I trained alot before taking on the Gym challenge, and when I finally got around to taking the challenge, I realised that she was about 5 levels lower than I thought she would be, so it turns out my team was overpowered at the point

Team is

Ninetales - level 34
Staravia - level 34

Bidoof - level 3 (HM Slave)

Well after my incredible oversight of Maylene's pokemon, I decided to only battle the trainers on my way to Pastoria so I could at least slow the levels on my pokemon a bit before taking on Crasher Wake.

Unfortunately he has the same level pokemon that Maylene has, so he too was way too easy on my account of overtraining before.

Anyway here is the team update:-

Absol - level 38
Ninetales - level 36
Sandslash - level 35
Hypno - level 33
Staraptor - level 37
Bidoof - level 3 (HM Slave)

-Pokemon in the PC that I occasionally switch around so I can have a full team of 6 when I face the elite four

Scyther - level 36
Primeape - level 35

Has he mentioned Eevee before? If so, then they may still be in the Garden. There can be up to two of the Trophy Garden exclusives in there at a time.

And well, i'm sure it's been months since my last update, so..
Awhile ago I restarted my Diamond version, and i'm up to Dialga now SRing for a Shiny one.
In Pearl, i've been doing heaps more training, most recently i've caught 8 Shiny Gligar, 2 Shiny Castform, 4 Shiny Abomasnow and 19 Shiny Eevee. Plus others, but i'm too tired to think right now D=

I got my Shiny Rhypherior to Lv. 100 earlier, and next in line is my Shiny Kingler, then Shiny Miltank and Furret.
I done an IV check for my Eevee's, and most of them were.. You know, great but not.

Pokemon Pearl Journal: The Munchlax Search

August 20, 2008

Starting this past Sunday evening, I have decided to make one final, decisive attempt to find and catch a Munchlax. Therefore, this makes it:

MUNCHLAX SEARCH: DAY 3

So, everyday, I slather 20 trees with honey, and come back and check in 6 to 8 hours. I do this 3 times a day (even on break at work!) for a total of 60 attempts a day. I would think I could find a Munchlax by the end of the week.

Meanwhile, I picked up my pokemon team from the Pokemon Center in Snowpoint City where they were recovering after our intense gym battle. I let them out of their pokeballs to get them ready for some training. Machoke seemed to be acting a little odd, and in a few seconds I understood why, as it started to evolve into a Machamp!

127. Machamp

So I took the group out for some more training around the icy routes near Mt Coronet. After a few hours, I returned to the Pokemon Center, and decided to transfer them to the ranch for some R & R. Upon arrival on the ranch though, Graveler evolved into Golem! My Sinnoh pokedex is coming closer to being complete!

128. Golem

Augist 23, 2008

MUNCHLAX SEARCH: DAY 6

Ok, this is taking longer than I expected. Barboach and I are traveling from tree to tree every day, looking to see what pokemon was attracted to honey. There were plenty of Burmy, Wormadam, and Cascoon, as well as a few others, but no Munchlax. At least we were taking the opportunity to work on some of Barboach's attacks along the way.

When I stopped at one of the Pokemon Centers along the way, I had Haley transfer some of my pokemon to me for some training. Staraptor, Clefairy, Hoothoot, Chimecho, and Skuntank haven't seen action in quite some time. Candice let me train at the Snowpoint City Gym, so me and some of the trainers from the gym headed out into the mountains for some training.

August 26, 2008

MUNCHLAX SEARCH: DAY 9

Wow. I thought for sure by now I'd have seen a Munchlax. I mean, we're talking over 500 attempts now. Not to mention the several hundred over the past year. People around Sinnoh have said they've seen Munchlax in the forest before, so if it's out there, it's my goal to catch it. I won't give up! (Yes, I may be slightly crazy.)

This makes finding a Feebas look rediculously simple.

Dark Destiny September 1st, 2008 12:55 PM

Apparantly a Muchlax appears 1 in 100 according to serbii.

Well for me...
Breeding forblissy's =)

Trap-Eds September 1st, 2008 2:01 PM

Well, right now I'm on Route 220 training Glaceon, Sneasel and Rotom. I don't like Glaceon's cry though. It sounds like it's dying!!

I'm gonna keep training these guys till they're at level 50, then I'll got the Pokemon League.

Tails2000 September 1st, 2008 4:17 PM

I caught an aipom today. I heard that they are kinda rare, so I'm happy i caught him.
I also got through the Eterna forest, and now I'm training for the second gym.

Pokemon Pearl Journal: No More Honey Trees!

August 26, 2008

I left a few things out of my previous entries.

Last week, I challenged the Magma Colosseum in Poketopia with my team of Barboach, Snover, Mr. Mime, Wormadam(ground), Tentacreul, and Sneasel. I figured the ice and water pokemon would keep things cool in the blazing hot colosseum. I chose well. Scores are based on how many pokemon are remaining at the end of each battle, and at worst I had one knocked out each time. So I made it to the Colosseum Leader Terrell, who used mostly evolved fire-type starter pokemon as well as other Sinnoh starters. They were no match for Barboach and the others. That puts me at Rank 4 in all available colosseums, as well as making me eligible to compete in the Courtyard Colosseum.

Also the other day (yesterday, actually), I got home very late from work (after midnight late) but of course did my usual sweep of the honey trees. Barboach was swimming off the beaches of Route 213 near Pastoria when Dr. Footstep was passing by on a midnight stroll. He said he saw us training the other day while we were practicing some contest combinations, and he was very impressed with the demonstration. He said we seemed in sync, and the strong bond would carry us far in contests. Because of our hard work, he awarded us the Footstep Ribbon, which would be Barboach's 11th Sinnoh ribbon! Barboach was very excited. I know it wants to enter another contest, but we've been so busy training for gym battles and searching for Munchlax. Soon we'll have to return to Hearthome City to win more ribbons!

So, this evening, Candice battled with me to help me train Noctowl, Chimecho, and Skuntank. Man, that Medicham was just as difficult the second time around. Her Abomasnow used a move called Avalanche, sort of like an ice-type equivalent to the move Revenge. If the pokemon takes a hit, the power of Avalanche is doubled. She offered to teach one of my pokemon the move, but none of my pokemon was able to learn it. So, I went back to the Pokemon Center, where I transferred my pokemon to Hayley on the ranch. Then, Barboach and I were off to check the honey trees.

Summary:

TIME: 336:57

BADGES: 7

RIBBONS: 11

POKeDEX: Seen 136

Obtained 128

August 26, 10:30pm

I was so tired that I almost just went to bed without checking the honey trees. But, I decided to do a sweep anyway.

I'm glad I did.

Sitting there next to the tree on Route 214 eating some berries was a little Munchlax! Finally! Finally finally FINALLY!! Quick Ball, go! I was hoping to catch it fast using the specialty pokeball, but 2 Quick Balls failed. Should I use a Great Ball? No wait, it's night-time right? So, Dusk Ball, go! After 15 months of looking from time to time and over a week straight of hardcore searching, I finally have the pride of yelling: "I CAUGHT... A MUNCHLAX!"

129. Munchlax

August 30, 2008

Now with a Munchlax on my team, I decided it was time to check out Lake Acuity. I went to the Pokemon Center and called Hayley. All my pokemon seem to be doing well. I had her transfer Bibarel, Lopunny, Murkrow, and Remoraid. They are the last four pokemon I have left to train in this rotation. So, along with Barboach and Munchlax, I headed for Lake Acuity.

And obviously, Team Galactic has been long gone.

I did run into Ralph sitting by the lake. He said Jupiter from Team Galactic was here with some grunts and they captured the legendary pokemon from this lake.

"I couldn't do anything to stop them!" he said dismayed. He was talking about getting stronger, and that he was doing some special training in order to confront them. I told him I would go on ahead to their headquarters in Veilstone City and see what I can find out.

Evilyn September 2nd, 2008 11:57 AM

I'm chaining for a Shiny Bagon for about a week now 'cause my chains keep breaking above 30 :l
Those little Psyducks really enjoy breaking my chains, they show up most of the times.

But, oh well, Bagon is one of my most wanted targets so I'll just stay on that Route until I get a green one ;/
I had a Bagon chain at 40 a few months ago, but I accidently walked into a bad patch while resetting for Shinies, darn you Machoke! DX

Tails2000 September 2nd, 2008 1:58 PM

Today I made it through the Eterna forest in one piece.
Before going pokemon hunting I trained for the gym.
Before battling the leader I found another patch of grass, there I caught a Meditite, a Chingling, and a Ponyta.
Then I traded my Buizel for a chatot.
Now I'm off to battle the next gym.

Team summary:

Pokemon Pearl Journal: Infiltrating Galactic HQ

August 31, 2008

The Galactic Building in Veilstone was locked down pretty tightly. Something's going on in there. Time for me and my pokemon to do some recon.

"Barboach, Remoraid, in the water," I said, releasing them near the pier. "See if there's a way in from the water." My duo of water pokemon swam off.

"Murkrow, Lopunny," I said as they appeared from their pokeballs. "You two sneak around and see what you can find.

"Krow-murkrow!" Murkrow flew off and Lopunny hopped away.

"Bibarel, you're with me." We walked around Veilstone, just casually checking things out.

There's a house near the gym where a lady gives out massages to pokemon. She can also help with accessories for Pokemon Contests. "Munchlax, come out," I ordered. I left Munchlax with her for awhile so it could be pampered a bit.

Bibarel and I left there and headed back towards the main street. Just then my Murkrow flew back with something in its beak. "Looks like an access key. That might help us get in that HQ. Ok, Bibarel, go round up the others."

September 1, 2008

Shortly after midnight, we snuck up to the main entrance to the Galactic building. All my pokemon were back in their pokeballs, except for Murkrow who was holding the key. We tried it in the main door, but it was access denied. After a few miutes of thought, I remembered a warehouse near the pier. We headed over to that, which was much less guarded anyway. Inside, we found a door that the key fit into. The next room had some stairs leading down.

"Ok, Murkrow, return," I pulled out its pokeball, but instead it flew over to a table in the corner.

"What's that?" On the table was two small stones that were quite dark, about the size of a fist.

"Krow!" Murkrow touched one of the stones and started to glow! Ok, so it's an evolution stone. But Murkrow don't evolve… do they? Apparently in Sinnoh! Murkrow evolve into Honchkrow using a Dusk Stone. I pocketed the other Dusk Stone and returned Honchkrow to its pokeball.

130. Honchkrow

So with my new Honchkrow, we infiltrated the warehouse, fought a handful of Team Galactic grunts, and eventually found a master key to the main building. We all escaped back to the Pokemon Center for some sleep.

Well, yesterday I went and caught all the Unown and nearly used up all my Quick Balls. Finding that last one, Unown T, was a REAAL pain...And that Maniac Tunnel isn't very impressive. xP Then after that I went and trained on Route 218...yikes.

Pokemon:
Glaceon: Lvl 37
Rotom: Lvl 38
Sneasel: Lvl 37
Staraptor: Lvl 55
I only had Staraptor to fly me places...and to win a battle if the other three got creamed.

So today I won my 2nd badge which was A LOT easier then I thought. Afterwords I took advantage of 'Cut' and entered the forest mansion. I caught a gastly inside, and when I left I ran ito a mistriavus (Which I caught also).
I plowed through the Team Galactic building and destroyed Jupiter.
Now I'm off to Cycling road to see what awaits.

I'm working on getting my second Gym Badge today, and after that will probably be my third Gym Battle, and my day will end.

Tails2000 September 6th, 2008 9:23 AM

September 5th:
I made it through cycling road no probem. Then checked out the lower roads and found Wayward cave. I taught 'Flash' to budew, and I'm glad I did! I would have never made it through without it. Anyway, the first pokemon I saw I there was a Bronzor. Since I needed a psycic pokemon I caught it on my first try.
After battling a few times, Budew Evolved!!! I used Roselia to PWN all the hikers.
I found that little girl (I forgot her name)...but she didn't help because I already battled all the trainers. I got her out safely, but she didn't give me squat! She could of at least given me an item of some sort instead of dissapering and never coming back.

September 6th:
Well I traveled into Mt. Cornet and met that Team Galactic guy. But my motto..."No Battle, No interest". Few wild battles, not much. Outside, a few trainer battles, no challenge.
I arived in harthome city and entered my first Super contest. I used Staravia in a cool contest, and won... Without any Poffins!
Afterwords I creamed My rival for the second time. Seriosly, toooooo easy!

The past two weeks (in no particular order)

-Placed my Prinplup and Bubblegum (shiny Psyduck) in Day-Care, got an egg which hatched into a male Piplup that knew Water Pulse!

-Amused myself by wiping out Geodudes with Piplup's Water Pulse, then dropped it in Day-Care alongside my Skitty.

-Received an egg that hatched into a male Skitty with Cute Charm! Just what I needed. Oh yeah, it also can use Water Pulse.

-Caught a Caterpie and a Weedle from Fire/Leaf carts.

-Headed to Route 224 (I think) for the Natu swarm. Swore when I forgot how many HMs were needed to get there. Good grief...(I did catch my Natu though, which is now a Xatu)

-Other swarms got me a Corsola, a Smoochum (now a Jynx) and a Slakoth. On the way to the Corsola swarm, caught a Seel and levelled it up for Dewgong.

-The Poké Radar netted me a Mareep at the Valley Windworks. Spent a long time levelling it up for Power Gem. I let it evolve then and levelled once more for an Ampharos.

Lesse...where to begin?

-Caught a Krabby in a swarm, levelled it up, evolving it to Kingler.

-While levelling Krabby, encountered a Rattata and caught it with a Quick Ball. Also levelled it up, netting me a Raticate.

-Went to Mr. Backlot's mansion, just to see what was there...and lo and behold, Eevee today! Found a female on the first try (male Cute Charm Skitty in the lead) and caught it after seven or so Poké Balls. Now to level that as well as my other Eevee (male) and breed them.

-To end the day, went to Mt. Coronet, caught a Magic Guard Cleffa and gave her the Soothe Bell. Boosted her happiness with the woman in Veilstone and the spa treatment in the Resort Area.

Sinnoh 'Dex: 150 seen, 79 caught.
National 'Dex: 252 seen, 144 caught.

Pokemon Pearl Journal: Rescuing the Legendary Trio

I love the journals everyone's posting.... it helps inspire me to keep mine up!

September 3, 2008

Now that I had the main key to Galactic HQ, I decided to storm their base. There were plenty of Galactic grunts throughout the building, but Honchkrow, Bibarel, and the others were all able to beat any pokemon they used against us. Then we finally reached the command center, where Cyrus was making final preparations for something big. He didn't seem overly worried about me being there. Actually, he wasn't showing much emotion at all. He said something about how emotions are nothing more than the products of a weak human heart. He calmly tells me of his plan to destroy the current world to replace it with a new, better world that he will create. To accomplish this twisted goal, he needed the three legendary pokemon of the lakes and their unique powers. Of course, we can't let that happen. So out of their pokeballs appeared Honchkrow, Bibarel, Remoraid, and Lopunny, and it really did take their combined force to defeat Cyrus's pokemon. After his defeat, he emotionlessly stated how it doesn't matter that he lost. He said I could proceed to the laboratory and release the legendary trio if I felt it was necessary. Then he took his leave.

I entered the lab where some scientists were profusely asking for forgiveness over what they had done. In the furthest chamber in the lab, the three pokemon were bound to some sort of machine. They all looked in pain. Galactic Commander Saturn was standing in front of the control panel. Upon seeing us enter, he told us that we were too late. Cyrus had extracted crystals from each of these three pokemon to form the Red Chain, which will allow him to bind the power he needs to control time and space at the peak of Mt Coronet. Of course, he didn't let me release the trio without a pokemon battle first. But my pokemon were quite worn out from their battle with Cyrus. It took all six of my pokemon, including Munchlax and Barboach, as well as some Super Potions to take down Saturn's tough pokemon. Once beaten, I was able to set the legendary pokemon trio free, and they quickly vanished into the air.

My pokemon were badly hurt, so I took them to the Pokemon Center to be healed.

September 5, 2008

It took a few days of recovering, but all six of my pokemon were back to full strength. I decided to give them all a break, and transferred them all to the ranch for some relaxation. But, I still need to pursue Cyrus up to the mountain summit. So I had Hayley transfer over six pokemon for me to travel with.

New team: Gabite, Wishcash, Gastrodon, Kricketune, Tentacreul, Ponyta

Gabite had quite a bit of trouble fending off the wild pokemon we encountered on our way through the caves of Mt Coronet. Water-type attacks were helpful from some of the others, but just about everyone struggled a bit. Tentacreul and Ponyta were the best match-ups. There were plenty of wild Abomasnow that were quite susceptible to Ponyta's Fire Blast and Ember attacks. Not to mention Tentacreul's Poison Jab and Acid attacks. We made frequent trips into the mountain and back to the Pokemon Center, as the team needed frequent recovery.

September 6, 2008

We started learning the path to get to the summit of Mt Coronet. The trail would lead through caves inside the mountain to cold precipices outside the mountain, back and forth. There were plenty of battles and training to experience against both wild pokemon and Team Galactic grunts trying to slow me down. Eventually, Ponyta evolved into Rapidash!

131. Rapidash

I backtracked to the Pokemon Center in Oreburgh City, and gave my pokemon team a rest. They got lots of experience over the last few days, so I'll probably rotate them with some of my other pokemon for the next leg of the journey.

Well as the days go by, I now have my 3rd Gym badge from Maylene, and I must say the battle between her lucario and my newly evolved Floatzel was one of the best battle's I've had in a while.

My team so far is Lv. 34 Torterra, Lopunny, Floatzel, and Murkrow. Right now, we're on our way to Pastoria, but first we have to get some training done!

True Justice September 12th, 2008 11:11 AM

Since the reveal of Rotom's new formes, i've been working on getting a very good IV'ed Rotom. It's been very tedious but I hope to be finished by Saturday.
