Scarf. I've ran it for a good while, so I''m used to it.

ScarfGon
Nature:Naughty
Draco Meteor
EQ
U-Turn
STONE EDGE!!!!
EV:252 ATK 120 SP.ATK 136 SPD

Mind you, he has 26 SP.ATK EVs.

He just kills dragons like there's no freakin tommorrow. He does very well thus far, but if he can drop that jerk SD Chomp, all the better.

Lumine February 19th, 2008 6:56 AM

Then Draco Meteor will OHKO Garchomp 74.4% of the time with this damage calculation (from your set)

Damage: 327 - 384
Damage: 90.58% - 106.37%

Have Stealth/spike support to ensure a OHKO

sims796 February 19th, 2008 6:59 AM

BEAUTIFUL!

Thanks, Mariomine, this puts my mind at ease.

[email protected] / Life Orb
252 ATT / 252 SPEED /6 HP
Jolly Nature
- Taunt / Stone Edge / Ice beam
- Earthquake
- Crunch
- Dragon Dance

This is perhaps my favourite sweeper.

Taunt in that first slot stops you getting statused, whirlwinded /Roared and lets you DD even more. Stone Edge grants more coverage and gets STAB. Bulky Ground types are this sets biggest problems, Ice Beam is a worthwhile option because it OHKO'S Gliscor, Garchomp, 2hkos Donphan, Hippowdon etc BUT ONLY with a Life Orb

Crunch and Earthquake have awesome coverage, dont worry about getting walled by skarmory, if you taunt it, it cant do squat to you, you then use it as set up fodder, DD UP,and Crunch it to death, which will wreck it after a short time, ive done it plenty of times to people who think Skarm is a counter.

Dragon Dance is self explanatory.

Max speed evs allow you to outspeed max speed Infernape, Gengar, Azelf, Starmie, Raikou after a single dragon dance, i think it actually only puts you just short of Alakazam Sceptile and Dugtrio o_O around the 366 mark.

brandon tautou February 19th, 2008 3:53 PM

okay so this might be long but it's hard to explain:

let's say that im trying to ev my level 1 mr. mime in sp. def so i take him out to battle some tentacool's (he does have a macho brace). but these tentacool's are like level 28-32 and i dont want him to die since he is my lead pokemon, so i switch in my higher level pokes to just faint the tentacool...my question is this:

does my mr. mime still give ev points for being in the battle?

airconditioning February 19th, 2008 4:04 PM

Yep, Mr. Mime gets the regular amount of EVs. So does the Pokemon you switch in, too. :P

Chonlel48 February 19th, 2008 5:12 PM

I got another question.

I finished EV Training a Blissey, and it's at a healthy and powerful level 40. Now... Where would the best place to "lvl train" it? Does it mooch off of my Medicham, or does it have its own little awesome training spot perfect for a Blissey?

I'd rather avoid having it mooch off my Medicham, Empoleon, or whatever I'm training at the time, for the sake of faster level gains... but is it just plain faster to do that?

Chon

Anti February 19th, 2008 5:15 PM

You mean training it to grow to level 100? Well, Wifi sets the level to 100 automatically so it's a waste of time. If you insist on training Blissey, just mow down the Elite four.

Wait, Wi-Fi just sets it to lvl 100? I did not know that.

Its EV spread is factored in, right? I just need to make sure of that before I embark on EV Training another poke for Competitive Battling for being completely certain...

Yes, it fully factors in EVs from what I have heard from the raters here. As in I'm 99.99% sure but somebody could verify that.

luke February 19th, 2008 5:36 PM

Yes, it takes into account the EVs given and adjusts stats accordingly.

Thank you. Now to EV Train a Lucario... Only a coincidence that that's the topic of the Pokemon Discussion Thread.

Kittyipawd February 20th, 2008 2:15 PM

How is subseeding sopposed to work?

Anti February 20th, 2008 2:17 PM

You hide behind a sub and zap stuff with Leech Seed while regaining most of your own health. They usually have HP Fire/Ice to beat grassers the evade Leech Seed and then a STAB move.

Sceptile is probably the best.

Kittyipawd February 20th, 2008 2:25 PM

Cant they just like swicth out to ruin the leech seed or is that thepoint where you hit with HP or STAB move

El Gofre February 20th, 2008 2:25 PM

Hi all, whats the new standard blissey?

Xairmo February 20th, 2008 3:07 PM

I know taunt makes it so the opponent can only use attack moves but does it also keep the opposing poke from switching out?

jc_rcw February 20th, 2008 3:26 PM

No, when you switch out the status wears off.

"New" standard blissey is the same basically.
ice beam/seismic toss/softboiled/thunder wave @leftover
With lots of def evs, some hp and sp.atk.

And with subseeding, when they switch out you leech seed the pokemon that comes in and it starts all over again, unless it's a grass which you hit and will probably run from.

Xairmo February 20th, 2008 3:27 PM

No i meant when you use taunt and stay in can the other poke switch out?

jc_rcw February 20th, 2008 3:31 PM

I should have made that clearer, yes the other pokemon can switch out, and the status wears off.

What's a decent Roserade moveset? Currently I have this in mind.

Roserade
Rash (+ Sp. Atk - Sp. Def)
EVs: 4 HP 252 SP. ATK 252 Speed
Leaf Storm/Magical Leaf (STAB bonus FTW)
HP Fire (Takes down those pesky Steels)
Toxic Spikes/??? (Well, it's a Toxic version of Stealth Rock basically... And I don't have to waste a TM, meh)
???

I know I should of had the Roserade (currently a Roselia atm) with a Timid nature, but I gone through several eggs just to get a decent nature and IVs good enough to get HP Fire.

Anti February 21st, 2008 4:51 PM

Okay I have to ask this because it's driving me NUTS. Why do people hate on Registeel so much? Seriously, it has A TON of resistances and can take physical and special hits.

I mean I know it can't attack that well but neither can skarmory or Steelix and both of them are pretty good. Only Registeel can take a special hit.

I mean it's resistant to SR and can't be zapped with Toxic, why do people hate it so much? I know its weaknesses suck, but throw in Celebi and Milotic and you've got a pretty solid walling core.

I mean it's a great Porygon-Z counter and takes predicted Explosions. He also owns specsmence's STAB move which is cool. It laughs at Outraging Scarfchomp and you can Explode on it or hit it with Ice Punch.

Even if you make a bad prediction and let Registeel get nailed by a supereffective hit, it's survive and you can switch in a pokemon that resists the attack and gg.

Is it just me or is Registeel underrated seriously? It's a more sturdy SRer than even Bronzong and Swampert and can provide Para or toxic support to a team. And it can BOOM.

So tell me, why do people hate on Registeel?
