IMO, T-Wave. It cripples anyone who faces Blissey, so you have an easier time healing your teammates or just giving them hell when you switch back to your sweeper.

Anyways, since I plan on trying out UU, what are the most common threats to end one's team?

sims796 March 31st, 2008 2:59 PM

Be wary of Hypno & Grumpig, two of the best UU walls there are.

So, other than Hitmontop, who else makes a good Tyranitar counter?

Bulky Ground-types are good counters for the physical sets, thanks to their Rock resist and high Defense. Donphan, Swampert, Hippowdon, and Rhyperior all work well. Gliscor can work very effectively as Sand Veil helps to avoid taking a hit and Roost can buy him a Rock resist. All of these can bring down Tyranitar with Earthquake. Bronzong is useful. Defensive Hariyama and really any Machamp set both have the defenses to handle Tyranitar's attacks, and resistances to both STAB attacks is a big help. Hariyama has the additional advantage of Thick Fat, giving it resistances to the Ice and Fire moves of the Life Orb set.

However bear in mind, Swampert gets 2HKO'd by a Dragon Danced Crunch if T-Tar is holding either Black Glasses or a Life Orb

Also Anti Lead Breloom is nice, to pimp smack it.

I was always curious. What ever happened to Worry Seed? It seems useful to me. I mean, shutting down Guts from Heracross, or Levitate from Gengar, to say the least.

El Gofre April 1st, 2008 11:51 AM

I tried it around christmas time on shoddy, it wasnt all too helpful. Mainly because most of the pokes learning it could also had a status move, something that cant just be switched away. Pokes like gengar are prime examples of where it can help, but in the majority of cases it just got switched away when i could have actually put a permanent effect on them.

sims796 April 1st, 2008 11:55 AM

Oh, I thought it was permenant.

Kirioroshi April 1st, 2008 11:59 PM

Porygon Z can have adaptability and Download as its trait.
the pre evolutions can only have trace and download.
so when porygon 2 with trace evolves into Porygonz, then Porygonz will have adaptability?

I have a similar question to LemonIceTea but mine involves Yanma and Yanmega.
My Yanma has Compundeyes, but when it evolves will it have Tinted Lens or Speed Boost?
Is there any factors which can determine which ability will be possessed or is completely random?

Tinted Lense yours will get.

If Yanma has speed boost initially, then so will the Yanmega.

Hi all, i have a random question. Is metronome considered hax? I dont plan on using it, it seems pretty sucky to me, but is it actually banned?

Nope, it doesnt function on chance to work.

El Gofre April 2nd, 2008 1:11 PM

Meh, i personally dont think its fair that clefairy has a chance of pulling sheer cold out of nowehere lol. Still, i suppose there's just as much chance of getting splash

Whoops, i thought you meant the item "Metronome".

Nah, anyways Metronome THE MOVE still isnt banned lol

sims796 April 2nd, 2008 1:19 PM

Also a chance that Sheer Cold could miss horribly. It seems like a fun move to use.

Agreed.

But chances are, you're levels are 100, and Sheer Cold has only lower accuracy when your level is lower then the opponent, and higher when you're a higher level. Hmm... This makes me wonder...

Is Milotic UU, or BL? I think Claydol is BL.

... What? Isn't Millie OU? Unless some sort of revolution against bulky waters occurred that Smogon wasn't informed of, I'm pretty sure that Millie is OU.

sims796 April 2nd, 2008 2:58 PM

I thought I heard talk of her being bought down like a person with an STD. It's a funny metaphor, you gotta give it time.

No bro. Milotic is BL. Come on bulky water? As far as that category goes, Milotic is destroyed by Swampy Slowbro and suicune. I'd say it's more on Empoleons level.

sims796 April 2nd, 2008 7:27 PM

Not entirely. She also has a REAL healing move, wide array of status, a great ability, etc.

luke April 2nd, 2008 7:45 PM

Yeah, apparently her abilities aren't as good as they were in the third generation. Or something like that. And Slowbro is BL as well. He's weak to too many moves.

sims796 April 2nd, 2008 9:13 PM

It's not that she got weaker, it's that everything else got stronger, and she didn't get much advancements (or setbacks) to accomodate this.

Milotic is more BL, Claydol is actually UU, but can still compete in BL, Ou, is a different story, whilst its still a decent spinner, you have things like CB Tar, Weavile coming in to Pursuit the hell out of you. The whole reason you use claydol is for Fighting AND rock resist, although it still has quite a few weaknesses, its also offensively retarded like Cressy lol, cant attack for ass, so its not exactly gonna over centralize UU either, heck youve even got Rotom blocking your spins down there =o

flygonjack April 4th, 2008 1:01 PM

I'm not really sure if this is where i'm suppose to post this but i was wondering what exactally can i do to speed up the evolution process of a riolu, since it has to be happy and lvl up in the day time. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

airconditioning April 4th, 2008 1:05 PM

The EV-reducing berries are great for increasing happiness. In fact, items in general increase a Pokemon's happiness. You can also give it a massage at the Veilstone parlor, and have it hold a Soothe Bell.
