So here what I'm thinking for Skarmory?

[email protected]
Impish
252HP/216 Def/40atk)

Drill Peck
Roost
Whirlwind
Spikes

I need a physical wall, that has just just enough to attack to take out weaken pokemon.

Thoughts?

EV's are more like 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Att. Or Dark Azelf's spread, PM him for it. Moveset is fine.

Angelic Diablo April 11th, 2008 6:40 AM

Consider Brave Bird over Drill Peck... Otherwise Gyara just laughs and DDs

El Gofre April 11th, 2008 7:14 AM

Skarmorys rarely run max def, base 140 is huge already. 212Def/44Att is what I run.
And yeah, BB over drill peck. The difference in damage is massive and you can roost off the recoil.

Dark Azelf April 11th, 2008 7:22 AM

[email protected] Shell / Leftovers
252 HP / 16 ATT / 200 DEF / 40 Sp.Def
Impish nature
- Brave Bird / Drill Peck
- Spikes / Stealth Rock
- Whirlwind
- Roost

Yeah... i like having some sp.def, you sometimes have to take random sp.hits, for example DD mences Flamethrower.

SR or spikes depends on your team, SR hurts Mence and Gyarados whilst spikes is useful otherwise.

Shed Shell allows you to escape that idiot Magnezones Magnet Pull.

Drill Peck may be more defensive and the recoil of Brave Bird may put you off, but BB ohkos incoming Infernape which Drill peck will fail to do and puts HUGE dents into most other things, for example gyarados.

If I use Tentacruel as a special wall, and not as a lead, would it be useful to still set up Toxic Spikes etc?

Hehe, no worries, just had to be sure it wasn't Modest or Bold or something before I went ahead with it. Thanks, though.

Azonic April 12th, 2008 8:18 AM

IV set? I don't get it. Just aim for the best IVs. I'd focus on Special Defense and Special Attack.
If you wanted a moveset, here it is.

Togekiss @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 Sp.Atk / 172 Sp.Def / 84 Speed
- Aura Sphere
- Air Slash
- Thunderwave
- Roost

ThizzKing April 12th, 2008 3:29 PM

Alright, so my pokes are fully EV trained...can I rare candy them up the rest of the way 2 lv 100?

or is this bad?

airconditioning April 12th, 2008 3:43 PM

You can Candy 'em up, sure, if they're EV trained. That's the way I did all my Pokemon.

ThizzKing April 12th, 2008 3:47 PM

but duznt it give them less stats or sumthing?

airconditioning April 12th, 2008 4:16 PM

That's a common misconception. Most people tell newbies that because if you Rare Candy a Pokemon from lvl 1 to lvl 100, it won't have an opportunity to EV train, and therefore will have lower stats than an EV trained Pokemon. But if a Pokemon already has all of its EVs, then it will gain the stat increases as normal- remember, Rare Candies count as normal level-ups.

sims796 April 12th, 2008 4:26 PM

To add on to air, you can even Rare Candy 'em up without EVs, then EV them later.

For example, you can give a lvl one poke (with no EVs) 50 Rare Candies, then decide to EV train then.

Rare Candies do nothing but blindly level up. It has no effect on EV's whatsoever.

ThizzKing April 12th, 2008 4:50 PM

alrite thank you sims796 and airconditioning

El Gofre April 13th, 2008 5:50 AM

Impish 252 HP / 180 DEF / 76 SP.DEF

Careful 252 HP / 180 SP.DEF / 76 DEF << This one is the standard

You can use either depending on which sorts of hits you want it to take.

Hey. Does anyone know if an Azumarill can learn Ice punch in D/P? And if so, how?
