I may sound dumb but is there such a thing as an EV battle? For example, someone forgets one of their pokemon's EVs and wants to find out what they are(I am myself,an example). Is that just some random theory I made up or is it something that is real?

Iv battles you mean ? Go in a level 100 battle, write down your stats and put them in an iv calc.

XaRhS April 19th, 2008 1:36 PM

ok this is a serious question:does sandstorm have a second effect?(except hitting other types except:steels, rocks.and ground)

ABYAY April 19th, 2008 1:37 PM

yes; it also gives rock-types +50% more defense (so something like Tyranitar has 250 sp.def, it now has 375 in Sandstorm).

Ambient April 19th, 2008 1:39 PM

Is Luvdisc ever viable for competitive battling, (and not for making the opponent laugh)

ABYAY April 19th, 2008 1:42 PM

Luvdisc is pretty much restricted to NU and UU battles, never OU. As much as I know, a Weavile tanks better than it. lol

XaRhS April 19th, 2008 1:43 PM

what do you mean ''viable''

does luvdisk learn hydro pump?

El Gofre April 19th, 2008 1:50 PM

Viable=Usable
And no, it really isnt. Speed aside it's pretty abysmal.

Luvdisc is great tbh, its won me more battles by time out, as my opponent was laughing too hard to move.

But seriously,no its really not good, im sure you can find ANYTHING that can perform better than it.

XaRhS April 19th, 2008 3:42 PM

i know that blizzard doesn't fail in hail.......is that true?
(i tried it with my delibird and failed,it may be because of hustle)
hustle=trades accuracy for power

El Gofre April 20th, 2008 1:46 AM

yep, that would be hustle's fault

XaRhS April 20th, 2008 2:04 AM

thank'ya
so.....all forms of weather have a second effect
sunny day>boosts the power of fire type moves, allows solarbeam to strike every turn without absorbing sunlight
rain dance>boosts the power of water type moves, thunder never misses
hail>strikes non-ice type pokemon,blizzard doen't fail
sandstorm>hits non-type g/s/r,boosts 50% the SPdefence of rock types
second effects ere ''hidden''that's the conclusion.....

El Gofre April 20th, 2008 2:08 AM

They arent really hidden, just less obvious. Full guide to be found here

sims796 April 20th, 2008 2:09 AM

To correct you, I've added this.

Justin T April 21st, 2008 2:55 PM

ThizzKing April 21st, 2008 9:06 PM

A heracross or scizor?

Aquilae April 22nd, 2008 2:25 AM

I understand that Garchomp is banned to Ubers on this site, can I view the discussion over the banning of Garchomp? I would like to see why it was considered too strong for OU by the members of PC.

There was a smogon thread about it aswell, its not banned fully, just for a month to see how it influences the metagame. If you read that, it will make a lot more sense as to why its banned. Read the whole front page though, also the back page has all the damage calce of its "so called counters"

Also, with Hail there is a 20% chance that Blizzard will hit through protect, with Rain a 20% chance for Thunder to do so, as well as tons of others. I had them all listed in that "How to build a weather team" thread.

XaRhS April 22nd, 2008 4:01 AM

and many others

I had no idea on that. Amazing.

Kirioroshi April 23rd, 2008 12:32 AM

would this snorlax make a good Special Wall?

Snorlax - #143 (Careful)
HP: 25 - 29
Att: 31
Def: 0 - 3
SpA: 4 - 7
SpD: 30 - 31
Speed: 20 - 25

XaRhS April 23rd, 2008 3:47 AM

if those numbers above are the evs you should put more in defense than spdefense.and if you wanna prevent fainting from powerful moves(eartrhquake, fire blast)put more evs in your defenses than in other stats
i hope i helped.......

No you didn't. Those are IVs, not EVs. And that advice doesn't make any sense. That's more or less common sense, and you gotta remember the pokes stats. He's more suited to sp.def, sice he IS a sp.wall.

Now to anwer your question, that Lax looks good, although if you have the patience to breed, try for more def.

I just did some calcs. A Wigglytuff with Max HP & Sp.Def with Light Screen up can easily survive a Hyper Beam from Porygon Z.
