Am I the only one that nearly can't touch Ubers? On one side, I just love the [email protected] design and their Dragon-typing, but on thesecond, I just feel like I'm cheating...any empathy?

LethalTexture September 28th, 2008 2:25 AM

The Uber tier has a very intriguing metagame. There's nothing wrong with being an Ubers player if that's what you want to do.

0_o

How can it be cheating or even feel like it when your battling ubers with your own ubers lol ?.

Anyway as Deano said its a really fun metagame (My preferred one by chance) since its REALLY offensive.

Thats a good link to read if you want to read up or get into uber battling ;).

Nah, you're not cheating at all by playing in the uber metagame. Because you and your opponent agree to both use ubers, thus... fair game basically. Now if you play ubers and your opponent wants OU, then that's a completely different story.

I, myself, don't play the uber metagame. Adjusting for me is a bit difficult when I'm too glued to OU. But yeah, you should definitely look into it, I hear it's very fun.

Lmao, forgotten how to get Crunch on Lucario.

Am I right in thinking I can breed a male Luxray/Floatzel w/ Crunch with a female Lucario or Riolu?

sims796 September 28th, 2008 4:33 PM

Yes.

Well, is it just me, or is shoddy acting up with everyone?

Detox September 28th, 2008 6:00 PM

Anyone know where i can get a list of natures and what they do?

Postman September 28th, 2008 6:31 PM

You can get them at Pokecommunity.

Froslass, it definitely isn't cheating like Ryan said, but I'll also point out that there is a thriving übers metagame currently; it is quite different to standard. It isn't like you're pitting OU Pokémon up against six übers without knowing you're facing them. It's about as much 'cheating' as playing standard instead of UU. Übers is also quite difficult; it isn't the cheap cakewalk everyone envisions for God knows whatever reason. Actions have higher risk in übers and you're also fighting some of the hardest-to-counter Pokémon in the game, so you're not working with perfect Pokémon either. Advice, though: play it on Shoddy. A lot of übers are hard to obtain with good stats without hard work obviously, like, ridiculously hard work, and God knows what you'll be facing on wifi. I assure you a lot of wifi übers players won't just be using 'legitimate' hacks, a lower percentage than standard. 8D;

Or from Serebii/Smogon, but it doesn't matter where you get them really.

Maria Santos October 3rd, 2008 5:30 AM

hmm, I need some help with damage calc cause I am not good at it. @[email protected]

I have a Jolteon with these IVs

20/18/29/30/31/31 resulting in Hidden Power grass 66. Its got 252 EVs in spd and Sp Atk.

Now on to the question.

Is my Hidden Power Grass 66 able to OHKO a Swampert with 404 hp, assuming it has no Sp.Def EVs and decent IVs?

Im not to sure about it. =/

luke October 3rd, 2008 5:34 AM

What item do you have on Jolteon? I'm presuming Focus Sash or Leftovers.

Maria Santos October 3rd, 2008 6:16 AM

no i have petaya berry on it though i am considering leftovers.

The Hero Without a Name October 3rd, 2008 7:14 PM

Okay, well...

317 Atk vs 216 Def & 404 HP (70 Base Power): 296 - 352 (73.27% - 87.13%)

So nope. But if the Petaya boost is activated, well...

devilicious October 3rd, 2008 7:24 PM

Yup, you would need the Petaya Boost. Or run a Choice Specs Jolteon [which, hey, isn't that bad].

Matt-O October 4th, 2008 6:24 AM

My friend recently traded me a Rash Dratini, which Smogon says can be used on a Specs set. Does anyone know it that set is any good? The set was:
[email protected] Specs
EVs: 64 Att, 252 Sp.Att, 192 Spd
Rash Nature
Moves:
Draco Meteor
Dragon Pulse/ThunderBolt
Flamethrower
Focus Punch
Focus Punch lets it take on Blissey, other moves for coverage and STAB. Is it worth my time to train it? I haven't checked its IVs yet, but it's female, so I can breed it.

Archer October 4th, 2008 6:38 PM

252 Jolteon: HP [Grass 66] vs 252/0 Swampert.

Specs/Petaya: 478 (Specs) Atk vs 216 Def & 404 HP (66 Base Power): 420 - 496 (103.96% - 122.77%)
Life Orb: 414 (Life Orb) Atk vs 216 Def & 404 HP (66 Base Power): 360 - 428 (89.11% - 105.94%)
Nothing: 319 Atk vs 216 Def & 404 HP (66 Base Power): 280 - 332 (69.31% - 82.18%)

Seeing as it's usually a lead, you can't factor in SR Damage.

You could run a Subpunching set. Substitute||Focus Punch||Dragon Pulse||Fire Blast/Roost
Not sure on the EVs, but something similar to what you listed above.

Matt-O October 5th, 2008 1:05 PM

When you use Sleep Talk, the result is random isn't it? You can't pick what move you use, can you?

Skip Shot October 5th, 2008 1:10 PM

Nope. Sleep Talk can't let you pick the move it uses, that would be cheap.

I'm running a Substitute Kingdra set with Dragon Dance, Waterfall, and Outrage. Standard EVs. Should I give it Leichi Berry, Salac Berry, or Lefties?

. October 5th, 2008 1:34 PM

SubDra <333

Kingdra @ Leftovers
Jolly
42 HP/252 Att/216 Spe
Dragon Dance
Waterfall
Outrage
Substitute

Has been working for me.

p.hant0m October 5th, 2008 1:37 PM

I'm not the expert but...
Lefties! :D
I thought that it would help out with the hp loss from sub.

My question.
I have an Agron level 83 that I'm working on getting to level 100.
I currently have it looking like this.
Gender:Boy
Nature:Careful
Stats: 220 hp/ 06 atk/311 def/105 sp.atk/123 sp.def/103 speed
Ability:Rock Head(Which right now is completely useless!)
Item:None but i need suggestions.

Moveset
  • Stone Edge-Against, well, It's useful. Right?
  • Earthquake-Against his peers like Rhyperior.
  • Metal Burst-Garchomp WILL outspeed me with no polish so this is for me surviving the Earthquake or whatever.
  • Rock Polish-To able him to sweep.
I need some suggestions for him on items and anything that needs some work as well as the moveset.

Detox October 5th, 2008 2:47 PM

um...he needs to be trashed completley...try this

aggron @ expert belt/life orb
jolly if you want more speed, adamant for power
252 atk, 126def,126 sp. def(or shove 252 into sp.def) 6 hp

rock polish
earthquake/iron head
ice punch
stone edge/rock slide/substitute

this should give you more ability to sweep

Azonic October 7th, 2008 5:32 PM

Um, both of yours' needs to be trashed completely, try this... ^_^

Aggron @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy (doesn't really matter but...)
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Attack / 252 HP / 4 Defense
- Avalanche / Thunder Wave / Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge / Rock Slide
- Substitute
- Focus Punch

Keyaki October 8th, 2008 3:40 PM

I got a question

Which increase Grass Damage and Water Damage more?

Meadow Plate or Rose Incense or Miracle Seed

Splash Plate or Mystic Water or Sea Incense

Azonic October 8th, 2008 4:08 PM

If I'm not mistaken, all of those items boost their respective type by the same amount. Each offer a 20% boost to the respective type. Miracle Seed, Rose Incense, and Meadow Plate all offer a 20% boost to Grass moves; the same goes for the water moves vs. water items.

But meh, the boost is minimal which is why most of the skilled battlers don't use them.
