~Focus Blast/Shadow Ball (Focus Blast add very vital coverage against Steel, and also removes Rocks and other Ice-types, but pffers awful accuracy; Shadow Ball is for Ghosts and other Psychics, but makes you stuck against most Steels)

So? Focus Blast is Base 180 while Aura Sphere is Base 135. Aura Sphere cannot 2HKO Calm Blissey, whereas Focus Blast can.

Hahahaha, woah. Weavile's okay, but he's not better than Tyranitar moveslot wise. He doesn't affect the metagame like TTar with his Sandstream and movepool that stretches over the horizon.

I'm sorry, but this was just a bad post.

oh,hi.can somebody tell me a good move set for luxray.can u not include egg moves as my luxray is lvl100

Dark Destiny August 28th, 2008 8:59 AM

Hmm... I was randomly breeding Togepi's and I got these IV's
22 hp
31 Att
27 Def
16-19 Sp.ATT
10-11 Sp.Def
10 Spd

I didn't mean to breed for IV's but i think they're pretty good altho the att/def are pointless since a Togekiss should be used for a sp.att sweeper or sp.def wall (i think)

Now the moveset i'm using is this (off Smogen)
Togekiss
252 HP / 152 SpA / 104 Spe
Nasty Plot
Roost
Air Slash
AuraSphere

I could use that ryt?

FinalPaladin August 28th, 2008 9:01 AM

would chare beam be a good choice for luxray
oh yeh good stats for a lvl1 togepi

Walrein August 28th, 2008 9:10 AM

Rebreed. You'll thank yourself after that.

Cacttus August 28th, 2008 9:17 AM

Final: Wondering if your going to use that Luxray for something?

Destiny: You might want to breed for the right Iv's.

My brother started his pearl over and I stole his starter lucky his game is glitched so it doesn't save any trades or save at all.

I'm already done Ev training just wondering on a good moveset.I know I could have bred BK on it,but I wanted it cause its Female.

Never used a togekiss before, but i've been reading about it and i wanna make it a sweeper =S
with the min 16 Sp IV, i'll be in the middle if IV's range from 0-31. I might use it for the moment. and Rebreed in the future.

But is the EV spread and moveset ryt?

Use Roost over T-Wave honestly. Unless you have qualms with it.

If you wanna get into competitive battling, then you might as well learn to breed now. It's a major part of the whole thing, and if you don't do it then you'll be at a major disadvantage over your adversaries.

If you've been using Luxray since the beginning of the game, and using him for battles, then it's not good. Scrap it and re-breed.

Adamant

Thunder fang
Roar

This is the moveset i used for ingame.....

any that include charge beam

Nooooooooooooo
So what if it's ingame? Luxray must have Ice Fang. The usefulness of an Ice-type move on an Electric-type is enought to make the two other moves fillers.
So, Luxray:
Breed for 31 or close IVs in attack and speed
@Choice Band
Jolly nature (breed with a female Jolly Shinx holding an Everstone, that will give the baby a 50% chance to be Jolly as well)
Intimidate trait
6 EVs HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
~Thunder Fang/Spark
~Ice Fang
~Crunch
~Fire Fang (Iron Tail loses to Magnezone, while using it insted of Crunch will make you lose to Lanturn and it's X1/4 Steel resistance)

Zurich August 28th, 2008 10:02 AM

Keep in mind that charge beam is a special move. So an adamant nature wont be good.
use this moveset then:
Rash/naive
Charge beam
Hiper Beam
roar
crunch/ice fang

FinalPaladin August 28th, 2008 10:03 AM

hey thanx i was thinkin about iron tail but remember,i aint breedin my luxray

So why even play at the first place? In equal levels, the league is a great challange (Spiritomb lead), not to mention the Battle Tower...just because you can beat that Lv 22 Pikachu in one Thunder Fang doesn't mean that's the best of the game.
By the same manner I bred Meditate with Kadabra for Psycho Cut. for all of the advance preiod, it made me mad Medicham had no physical Psychic STAB, what made me so glad to see it can learn a new physical Psychic-type move. From that moment, Weezing would never dare get close to Medicham agian. Fighting/Psychic is actually a good combination agianst other Fighting-types, as it not only resusts Fighting, but also Rock. Just remember Spiritomb and Sableye are immune to both STAB attacks...

If you are playing against a friend who EV trains. You're going to lose.

What? Spiritomb lead? The league is not a challenge whatsoever. Cynthia has Giga Impact Garchomp, and your rival uses Night Slash Heracross (Megahorn is MUCH superior)

Yup, Medicham is an absolute beast. Although Spiritomb completely walls you, if you pair it with Heatran, you'll beat Spiritomb 100% of the time.

Little nitpicks.

I would use Night Slash on Heracross as well, as-to remind you-Ghost-types are not only immune to Fighting, but are also Bug resist. Gengar and Drifblim have a X1/4 resistance to Bug. Special-hitiing Ghosts (excluding Rotom) can also Psychic it to oblivion.

Heathran? Just use a Scrappy Focus Punch Miltank. Ghost immune and hits super-effective.

. August 28th, 2008 10:42 AM

Miltank does not get a Flash Fire boost, and Spiritomb could easily just...Uh, you know, ATTACK Miltank while Focus Punching. I don't know where the hell that came from.

Any unSTAB'd Psychic is very lol. There's a chance it won't even OHKO Heracross, since he DOES have a respectable 95 Base SpD. Things like Alakazam cannot come in on anything bar Close Combat, and even that does a hefty chunk taking Alakazam's piss-poor defenses.

Miltank can Substitude on Spiritomb's WOW, and then give it a Focus Punch.
Why lol? I use it on my Ghosts.

Why? Besides the fact that it's unSTAB'd and Base 90? Don't use Psychic unless it's STAB'd.

As a pure sweeper, Ice Punch is generally superior. Still, Weavile makes a pretty mediocre sweeper, but an excellent revenge killer.

In short, I'd go Ice Shard.

Well Ok, both obviously have their uses, but I was going for this moveset:

Choice Band
-Pursuit
-Brick Break
-Ice Shard/Ice Punch
-Night Slash

Of course Night Slash is preferable with the strongest STAB Dark move, but what if I changed it to:

Choice Band
-Pursuit
-Brick Break
-Ice Shard
-Ice Punch

and got rid of night slash?

Nah, or bulky psychic's like Cress wall you, if they dont switch

-Pursuit
-Brick Break
-Ice Shard /-Ice Punch
-Night Slash

Pretty much what you want, its up to you which move you choose Punch or shard that would benefit your team more.

Although i have preference for Shard as it bypasses speed boosts on Yanmega, and Ninjask and lets you revenge dragon dancers (aka nite and mence).

I find Mismagius to ONLY be useful in late game. Otherwise, phazers or physical attacks will ruin your fun. Bring it in on Blissey, because she will never break your Sub after a CM (or prior to that really) Seismic Toss won't work. She basically becomes set up fodder.

That's pretty much the exact same moveset that I proposed except with the added option of Aerial Ace which I'm not even considering because aside from countering Heracross, it really has no purpose and Night Slash is just a lot more important.

Both punch and Shard are incredibly viable which is why I'm having such a hard time deciding. Shard destroys DD Mence and Nite, will still do about 25% to a Gyarados that has picked up DD, and it OHKOs scarfchomp. It also receives the bonus of being the only priority move on my team.
Punch however is Weaviles strongest STAB move (Barring Dark Pulse) and OHKOs a Yachechomp.

Maybe you can have both punch and shard and remove pursuit...
you already have night slash so i think pursuit isnt very important, you need some good prediction to know if the pokemon will switch out.
Aerial ace would be good for fighting types in general, but brick break is more usefull, for rock and steel types, and for OHKO blissey

The moveset would be the following one:

Ice punch
Ice shard
brick break
Night slash
What do you think?

. August 29th, 2008 9:46 AM

Do you know what Pursuit does? It lets Weavile catch foes trying to switch out. That's what makes Weavile even remotely usable (aside from Ice Shard)

Weavile @ Choice Band
Jolly
42 HP/252 Att/216 Spe
Ice Shard
Pursuit
Brick Break
Night Slash/Ice Punch

Probably the foe will predict that you are going to use pursuit and change to a pokemon resistent to dark moves, so you can use ice punch instead, besides you are using choice band so you wont be able to use pursuit if you used an other move before.
But anyway that moveset is great.

No, Aerial Ace sucks ass really. It does lol damage to everything. It has no coverage, and does what? 22% to standard Machamp? It can't even OHKO Infernape.

@ Bold

Weavile doesn't even learn U-Turn...So yeah, not a smart post at all.

But anyway that moveset is great.

If they switch out, they are STILL hit. The power doubles when they switch out.

Sucker Punch is awesome. I use a Mixed Set. HP Ice/Sucker Punch/Sub/Steel Wing

FinalPaladin August 29th, 2008 10:14 AM

maybe ummmm put roost or shadow ball in the moveset that u made.
(sorry,,,,i dont no what the different natures do)

Zurich August 29th, 2008 10:16 AM

Oh yeah i forgot its better if the foe swtiches out. So deffinitly pursuit is a must be.

And for the mixed set of hunchcrow which nature and EVs would you use?

Ice Shard
Pursuit
Brick Break
Night Slash/Ice Punch

Please.

Hey Vance you switch your Avatar like everyday eh? Anyways, finally I get a positive response letting me know what I should go with. Ok, looks like I'm going with Ice Shard. I still haven't decided about night slash or Ice Punch but I think I'm going to go with Ice Punch because well Night Slash aside from Cresselia doesn't have much use and Ice Punch is well... Ice Punch.

Now about your Sunny Day team, I know you said that Garchomp is one of the guys you wanted to keep but I'd get rid of him if I were you. I mean I love the shark and stuff but it seems like it benefits the least from Sunlight. Maybe Cresselia but with Sunny Day, Cresselia finally has a real reliable recovery move.
Also, I'd make Exeggutor a little more offensive because with those great Offensive Stats, and great speed boost from chlorrophyl, I'd give Shymin Sunny Day and give Exeggutor this moveset:

Exeggutor @ Choice Specs or Life Orb

-Leaf Storm/Solar Beam
-Psychic
-Hypnosis/Sunny Day
-Explosion

I thought the same before. But it gets really annoying when things like Bronzong comes in and COMPLETELY wall you. A crit Night Slash would definately hurt it.

I was thinking that, but then I realized Infernape would RIP through my team, so I had to have something to revenge kill it. As for Exeggutor, I replaced it for Porygon2, to help my Gyarados weakness.

Exeggutor @ Choice Specs or Life Orb

-Leaf Storm/Solar Beam
-Psychic
-Hypnosis/Sunny Day
-Explosion

Thanks for the set. If I find out that Porygon2 becomes a bit useless, I'll definately use it. =]

Porygon 2 has it's uses but why not:

Gardevoir @ Leftovers

-Wish
-Will-O-Wisp
-Psychic
-Thunderbolt

T-Bolt still gives you Gyarados Coverage but you also get another support pokemon and that speed and Sp. atk are nothing to gawk at.

Xebelleon August 30th, 2008 1:14 AM

So...

I made a Smeargle boy to go make:

Hippowdon
Adamant
~Stockpile
~Slack Off
~Earthquake
~Ice Fang

What nature should I be looking for, attack filler, item to maximize this? Should I edit the way it is to something else?

I was looking at that "CurseTank" as a base for the idea...

NOTE: I already have the CurseTank, as well...

FinalPaladin August 30th, 2008 3:52 AM

is tis a good offensive moveset for dragonite
dragon rush/claw
auqa tail
stone edge
and thunder wave

dark_seeker August 30th, 2008 4:04 AM

no this is
[email protected] berry/life orb
dragon dance
earthquake
fire fang
outrage/dragon claw

oh well the tower tycoons dragonite nos dragon rush auqa tail and stone edge.but why dos his rhyperior no flame thrower, thunder bolt, ice beam and rock wrecker.i no they r good moves and cover his weaknesses but is this one better
hammer arm(to kill steel types)
mega horn/poison Jab(to kill grass types)
thunder bolt(to kll water types)
and stone edge/rockwrecker/rock blast(to kill starapter, rapidash and a really good parasect because he isn't weak to megahorn and is stronger than poison jab)

The battle tower is retarded, even the tycoon. Do not use it as a model for good competetive mosesets, because they aren't. The dragonite set provided above is arguably the best.

FinalPaladin August 30th, 2008 4:40 AM

but was my rhyperior moveset any good for competetive battling.can someone please suggest a good offensive moveste for torrtera(dont say super power cus u hav to breed him with totodile, croconaw or feraligator and i dont hav a gba link cable)

Again, your set needs work. Standard Rhyperior runs:
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Megahorn/Avalanche
Stealth Rock/Roar/Sub

Nobody would ever suggest superpower on torterra, it's a terrible move for him. Anyway, standard torterra runs:
Wood Hammer
Earthquake/Stone Edge
Leech Seed
Stealth Rock

FinalPaladin August 30th, 2008 4:50 AM

why roar with any pokemon and anyway on my game sub is cheating.
i thought torrtera should no
woodhammer/seed bomb
stone edge
earthquake
????????

can some giv me a good idea for the last move(not roar not stealth rock not sub

Roar is there to get rid of any poke who has used Stat moves like Swords dance or agility.
Why on earth should substitute be banned?
You can use Seed Bomb if you dont like the idea of recoil, but Wood Hammer is a far superior option. Leech seed is vital so that torterra can tank properly.

Crunch should be your last slot if you're not willing o use a support move, and Choice band would be the item.

FinalPaladin August 30th, 2008 4:57 AM

thanx allot i hate sub and roar i think ill try leech seed

If you want a defensive hippowdon you should go with a phisical wall.
-Impish
-Leftovers
Earthquake
Ice fang
Slack off
Stealth rock/roar

and this evs: 252 HP / 16 Atk / 152 Def / 88 Sp.Def

The HP + Defense EVs allow Hippowdon to survive both an Adamant Garchomp's Swords Dance Outrage and an Adamant Lucario's Life Orb Swords Dance Close Combat.

Otherwise cursetank is a good option for an attacking moveset.

. August 30th, 2008 7:23 AM

Um, any Rhyperior with a Special Attack sucks. It doesn't matter if you're ingame or competatively, it sucsk and the trainer who uses it fails at making movesets.

I like CB Rhyperior (in Trick Room) The thing is a beast:

Rhyperior @ Choice Band
Adamant
Solid Rock
252 HP/252 Att/6 Def
Stone Edge
Earthquake
Megahorn
Avalanche/Ice Fang (Ice Fang in Trick Room)

People really don't know how to use Rhyperior. They think with a SS boost, he'll be taking SpA's easily, which he won't. Solid Rock is awesome, but it'll never let him live Max Att CB Meteor Mash from Metagross (a hard feat to do, which should be noted) Rhyperior truly needs Trick Room to be effective. It gets 2HKO'd by Pinsir Close Combat (with Mold Breaker) which says something.

pm_41 August 30th, 2008 4:54 PM

What's a good team for the Battle Tower?

Zurich August 30th, 2008 6:06 PM

Azelf/timid
Flamethrower
T-Bolt
psychic
nasty plot

Infernape/adamant
Earthquake
Flare bitz
Mach punch
Close combat

Floatzel/jolly
Aqua jet
Ice fang
Waterfall
Crunch

It really worked for me, you need some good variety of moves and you will be just fine.
It is a good team for the tycoon too.
Floatzel is for countering rhyperion, dragonite and cresselia
Infernape for heatran and regigigas
Azelf for milotic, With your superior speed you will kill him before it uses hipnosis.

Blissey @ Leftovers

Softboiled
Seismic Toss
Aromatherapy/Thunder Wave
Ice Beam

This thing is an absolute beast in the Battle Tower. I'm really not sure how it works so well, but I got really far with it just leading my team because Computers for some reason have no idea how to deal with it. Even special attackers has trouble with it.

Weezing @ Leftovers

Flamethrower/ThunderBolt/Will-O-Wisp
Flamethrower/Thunderbolt/Will-O-Wisp
Pain Split
Haze

Say what you want about Weezing but why it went to UU I don't understand. However, thw tower and competitive battling are 2 completely different things and the way I see it, Weezing is key. Of course the main attraction of this set is haze and the main reason for that is in the tower, many computers effectively use Minimize and especially Double Team. Now those moves are banned in competitive battling but is rampant in the tower and when the right Pokemon uses it becomes really annoying; in particular Blissey, Dusknoir, Shuckle and Forretress. Weezing is the best because all those pokemon tend to use Toxic as a DD/toxic combo so Weezing is free to switch in.

Also, you need an effective Sweeper. In the tower, the best sweepers are Garchomp, Lucario, Gengar, Alakazam, Porygon-Z or Metagross. Remember computers don't ev train so even in the hardest difficulties, a maxed out P-Z or Lucario will outrun 95% of all Pokemon.

@ Maria (yes I know Russian)

How can you make an all bug team and no include Heracross?

Your entire team get obliterated by any rock attack, doesn't have much attacking potential and dies at the arms of Stealth rock.

If you're going to make an all bug team, try to include Scizor, Heracross, Forretress and maybe Yanmega.

Shiny August 30th, 2008 11:06 PM

Ok, but it's Bulgarian, not russian just so you know... & I want to get rid of Masquerain & Volbeat, I just might now, thanks

Edit: I replaced Masquerain & Volbeat with Fortress & Scizor

Xebelleon August 30th, 2008 11:33 PM

Unsure of where to properly place this, but here goes...

I want a MEDICHAM...
I want a RHYPERIOR...

Having been levelled up to only the point of evolution, I was wondering if these will be terrible, in future. Also would like some possible moveset filler, different from the typical sources please if possible.

Medicham currently is: Ev = 252 Atk, 252 Speed, remainder in defense; has Effort Ribbon

Male @ Adamant = Hp-phys-Spec-speed = 99 HP, 91 Atk, 69 Def, 52 SA, 67 SD, 97 Speed
~Baton Pass (I want to keep it for a breeding base; a battle alternate possible?)
~Psycho Cut (keep it, please, should be obvious)
~Fake Out (i want to kill this slot for something else; ThunderPunch?)
~Ice Punch (H. Scaled)

**As there is another place for Breeding help, I will not post the source here**

Rhydon (No Protector! Yay! I have not toured map for full abuse of navigation yet, *sad LOL*):

Impish (42) @ Male: Ev = 252 Atk, 252 Def, remainder in HP
151 / 150 / 158 / 40 / 54 / 48
v~Current moveset~v
~Dragon Rush
~Ice Fang
~Fire Fang
~Earthquake (this was a pain to Egg with the others...)

I figure the STAB of a Stone Edge should fit into there. Maybe a Swords Dance. Should I reboot the species with different movesets?

~Wasn't wanting to USE Rhyperior in the first place.
I'll probably stuff SE and Megahorn the Ice Fang/DRush goodbye. Use R-hype for story moding.

More aiming for a possible slot for it in Battle Tower, maybe Trick Room, for R-hype anyhoo.

~Medicham: Having the Baton Pass on Medicham = looks good on paper I assume, as Smoggy lacks
~Medicham: Ability is cool, Magikarp pants are not.

I would rather slot a Delibird with Rapid Spin over Medicham. They both get the same result, I assume.

"Stealth Rock!!! Oh noez! Medicham, return! Go, Delibird! Rapid... awww...."

What about:

Mist + Baton Pass = on Smeargle? Or does some other/better do this better, if Mist-Passing is even a good thing...

Angelic Diablo August 31st, 2008 12:22 AM

Delibird is the WORST spinner around, send him in to take care of the Stealth Rock problem and his health drops in half just from switching in.

And Rhyperior can work effectively, I don't know why so many people bad mouth it (Yeah it has some problems, but what doesn't)

[email protected] Band/Leftovers/Life Orb
Adament Nature
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Atk, 6 Def
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Avalanche/Focus Punch/Hammer Arm
-Megahorn

My personal favourite set, Brave Nature can be considered for a quicker Rhyperior in Trick Room, and as such Hammer Arm becomes quite effective, however with Trick Room only lasting 5 turns you probably wont see that much use.

Anyway Focus Punch things on the switch hurts. Especially with the Choice Band attached

Xebelleon August 31st, 2008 12:31 AM

I know. Delibird sits in my PC with Defog, Splash, Present, Rapid Spin.

Yes, I really do have that set. Better to Defog "Santa penguins" than Zubat IMO.
On the up side, she collects dust slower than my Claydol...
-----------
I'm terrible at Focus prediction. And I hate Hammer Arm. I liek Longkips and
Ice Fang. Avalanche is on my "Phailord", one of my MANY Smeargle, and Rampardos...
