Snorlax @ Leftovers
Thick Fat (Raises resistance to Fire + Ice type moves.)
Adamant Nature (+ Atk, - SpA)
144 HP, 68 Atk, 132 Def, 164 SpD
Curse
Body Slam
Shadow Ball
Rest

Curselax ftw~

Now for some questions.

1) What exactly is a tank? My guess is that it is a pokemon with a high Def or SpD stat, but it also has a high attack stat, so it can be a wall or a sweeper. Am I right?

2) What role would my Snorlax play?

Meh, sorry if I sound like a noob, but I kind of am. I have been battlling my friends with EV trained teams and stuff but I just recently started Wi-Fi'ing people.

Thanks for your help.

1st Post on 135th page ftw!

Curselax doesn't work well in DP. Snorlax himself doesn't have a reliable, one-turn recovery move, and with Rest, he's pretty much asking to be set up on. Rest Talking is more reliable.

And Walls tend to have high HP AND a high defensive stat. They also tend to have a decent attacking stat so that they won't be set-up fodder.

EDIT: And Shadow Ball is a special move now. Yes, no more Shadow Ball Medicham or Dusky. Least Gengar's got a powerful STAB move now.

What if I replace Rest with Slack Off?

And I think I will replace SB with EQ.

The Hero Without a Name September 9th, 2008 7:16 PM

Snorlax doesn't even get Slack Off =/

Xairmo September 9th, 2008 7:16 PM

Snorlax can't learn Slack Off :/
Edit: Fabian beat me to it xD

I understand that.

I'm going to try breeding it on him.

Gotta find a Full Incense first then.

Or did you mean even with breeding?

I am confused. =/

That would not make any sense though, it says on Serebii that Snorlax can't learn Counter, but he can. So he can possibly learn Slack Off.

If he can't, then thats weird. It seems like the perfect move for him.

The Hero Without a Name September 9th, 2008 7:35 PM

Wait, what?

Pretty flawed logic =/ It doesn't say so on the DP section for Snorlax because Counter is obtained from an Advance move tutor. There is no move tutor in ADV that teaches Slack Off.

Dang, it would be the perfect move for him too.

Suggest any other Snorlax sets?

Or should I just toss the idea out the window?

The Hero Without a Name September 9th, 2008 7:41 PM

There's always CBLax.

...I'm not really an expert on him, though, so I'll just leave the discussion to someone else.

4th Gen Matt September 9th, 2008 7:57 PM

I think I decided to go with this Snorlax. I kind of messed with the RestTalk lax and I think its pretty good.

Rest
Sleep Talk
Body Slam/Return (I think I like Body Slam because of the 30% paralysis chance.)
Crunch (I think its better than Shadow Ball. Its a physical move unlike the special attack Shadow Ball. It takes cares of Ghosts, and Psychics, and anything else really. Nothing really resists Dark besides Steel and a few others.)

Comments?

I'm having problems with my team. I always lose on wifi, and it's really starting to irritate me. my team is:

Espeon
Glaceon
Flygon
Lumineon
Raichu
Carnivine/Butterfree

any suggestions?

To be blunt, if you wanna win start over and learn how to battle competetively. Literally none of your pokemon are top-tier, and lumineon is NU. The threads here like the competetive 4th gen guide will teach you the fundements of competetive play, which should aid you in improving.

This is a much better lax, this is the one i actually use most of the time. I'd go careful/ adamant also.

It has an Adamant nature.

Here are the EVs:

144 HP
68 Atk
132 Def
164 SpD

Randomness: This is just something random I wanted to say. I saw a guy earlier that gave Snorlax Speed ev's. Lol.

sims796 September 10th, 2008 2:46 PM

Damn it, Matt, so close. Careful is the way to go, not Adamant, unless you want a Choice band Lax.

Romo_Owens September 10th, 2008 6:31 PM

Can a cleric Blissey set do without Seismic Toss? I'm really not down to go back to Emerald which I don't have. I'm thinking something like:

-Aromatherapy
-Ice Beam/ThunderBolt/Flamethrower
-Softboiled
-Thunder Wave/Toxic

Blissey has a diverse moveset it can do without Seismic Toss. Thunder Wave cripples any sweeper (except of course Garchomp making Ice Beam a more favourable choice). ThunderBolt is just there for Gyarados and Skarmory and Flamethrower for Bronzong, Scizor and Foretress.

sims796 September 10th, 2008 6:37 PM

No. Not at all. It needs it, or else Pokemon will set up on it. Don't think her meager base 76 Sp.Atk will do much damage.

ABYAY September 10th, 2008 6:39 PM

If you want to use non-Seismic Toss Blissey, your best option is probably CM Bliss (and no, that's not CB). That's just my opinion though.

sims796 September 10th, 2008 6:42 PM

Oh, Substitute! That's what it was! I was thinking on what she gets stopped by without it.'

Sorry, don'cha hate it when there's a word at the tip of yourtounge, thatpops out at the worst moment?

FinalPaladin September 11th, 2008 8:07 AM

Nobody asked for that...
Or do you want it rated yourself?

FinalPaladin September 11th, 2008 8:27 AM

oh yeh i forgot to ask for it to be rated

The problem with that though is that on my team i have way too many pokes with stat boosting moves. Although of course i switch between these from battle to battle, on the pokemon I use most commonly for wi-fi battle I have:

Cursepert
SD Garchomp
NP Mixape
NP Porygon-Z
CMCune
CM Jirachi

And I'm probably forgetting some. Point being that most of my team consists of Pokemon with stat boosting moves which they rely on. I'm trying to cut down on training those.

Plus the Cleric would be a support pokemon. and if anyone tries to set-up on me I'll throw a Thunder Wave their way making it pretty hard to sweep. The only problem would be Garchomp who get 2/3HKOd with ice beam.

I suggest taking out NP on Mixape for either Stone Edge or HP Electric, as Chomp is banned nao. I also suggest taking out Chomp out for a ScarfCross, as Chomp is banned.
