El Gofre March 17th, 2008 9:17 AM

I use the exact same set on vespiqueen, just with adjsted EVs: 252HP/100Def/156SpDef. After a defend order it makes a great dual wall, after two it may even survive a rock attack :O

Erm, spam much?

Anyway, I need advice on this latias set I came up with

[email protected] Dew
Calm
252HP/252SpDef/6Spd
Thunderbolt
Recover
Roar/Reflect
Dragon Pulse
My uber team has been extremely kyuber weak up to now, so i decided a dedicated counter would suit the team well. This works with groudon support to shut the whale down. Assuming perfect IVs on both sides and groudon getting rid of rain, choice specs kyuber (Timid) will do 25-29% from a water spout, quite an achievment really. Recover gets rid of damage and a thunderbolt+soul dew=pain :P
Any thoughts?

Deoxys55 March 17th, 2008 3:15 PM

I'm having a hard time deciding on a moveset and hold item for my Speed Deoxys, as well as deciding on its role in a team. It's Timid and has pretty good IVs in Speed (27), but does poorly in
Special Attack. It has great Attack IVs (29), but I don't know if I want to run it as a Physical Sweeper since it has access to Calm Mind.

Suggestions?

charmanderchampion March 18th, 2008 11:11 AM

heres my team it has never lost both online and against my friends:
Tyranitar LV 100
shadowball
earthquake
crunch
surf

Dragonite Lv100
outrage
earthquake
surf
gigaimpact

charzard Lv100
flamethrower
fly
earthquake
roost

blastoise
surf
hydroblast
earthquake
water pulse

mewtwo
psychic
shadowball
recover
psybeam

snorlax
surf
snore
rest
hyperbeam

FourFourTwo March 18th, 2008 11:33 AM

You have surf on 4 out of 6 pokemon.
You have earthquake on 4 out of 6 pokemon.
You use mewtwo.
You use hyperbeam.
You use fly.
You have no natures.
You have no EVs.
You have no hold items.

Outrage on Dragonite is ASKING for an Ice type with good defense (Mamoswine) to come in and rape you with avalanche.

Oh wow, thats really bad, i dont know where to begin.

* Hyper Beam and all variants of it (Frenzy Plant, hydro Cannon, Giga impact, Blast Burn)sucks, it leaves you open and vulnerable for a revenge kill after youve killed one of their pokes.

* Mewtwo is uber and therefore banned.

* 2 moves of the same type on one pokemon of the same element are pointless, unless they do completely different jobs. (e.g priority or something else)

* Fly is bad, again once you use it, i can just go to the appropriate counter to easily take the hit.

*You do realize Ghost and Crunch have just the same type coverage =/, im looking at tyranitar here, so therefore are bad when used in conjunction.

* Snore again is a terrible move, lol 40 Bp lol

* There is no structure here, your metagame weak, (which means to everything).

* We need EVS and natures to do anything.

* No offense, but if this team won, youve been battling REALLY bad players, have you battled REAL competitive players ? No. obviously not. So bragging about it not having lost, well is kinda lol

* But all is not bad, i suggest you read the stickies, they'll help loads.

Wow, i thought this was a "request a team" thread not a "Look at my crap" thread. That team is seriously aweful, and fuelled by arrogance. What summed it up for me is that you think levels are important, showing that you've probably never been on wifi. Otherwise you'd have clicked the magic "Lvl 100" button.
Anywayz, i have a latias set at the top of this very page that needs rating, before i waste my time buildig it :P

El Gofre March 18th, 2008 12:45 PM

...

Just make sure you go for two speed numbers, those being 308 (Timid and 96 speed evs) and 330 (176 speed evs and timid) , 330 beats Palika and 308 outruns most other things, if you dont feel Palkia is a threat, this allows you to shove evs elsewhere ;)

[email protected] Band
Adamant
6HP/252ATT/252SPD
Insomnia
Bug Bite
Poison Jab
Sucker Punch
Shadow Sneak/Pursuit

Shadow Sneak is for a Priority Move other than Sucker Punch and Pursuit can be used like this:

If you suspect that a Pokemon is Locked in a Sleep-Inducing move (Choice Specs Yanmega, Jynx, ect.), switch out for Ariados. If they themselves don't switch the turn you do, you can Pusuit them on the way out best of all, you can then select another move afterwards, such as Sucker Punch if you predict a damaging move or one of its STAB moves if you think they'll use a defensive one.

Looks ok, but still Ariados is bad even in UU, i prefer it for Agility/Trap (Spider Web) Baton Passing, that seems to be its most useful asset...

luke March 18th, 2008 1:16 PM

Okay guys let's keep the disrespectful comments to a minimum.

And I'd much rather go with a 252 HP / 252 Atk / 6 Def spread on Ariados because with that dismal Speed, it won't be outrunning anybody.

I know, it's just that I have a soft spot for it. It was one of the Pokemon in my original team of six in my Crystal XD

El Gofre March 18th, 2008 1:20 PM

May i suggest night shade? This thing gets completely walled by steel types, and a decent chunk of damage delivered from NS is never a bad thing. Also, i cannot see what this thing is going to achieve with base 40 speed. I'd consider a more defensive set (Im laughing in my head at the idea of a "tank bug" :P)
Im presuming this will be an addition to your bug team, but i cant see where it would fit. The current line-up's good, this wont really benefit it.

Should I put Night Shade over Poison Jab? Poison has HORRIBLE coverage, so taking is off is no big loss.

No, I just am a Bug Specialist XD

I've even used Double Powder Butterfree and BPing Beedrill in the past XD

I also have used Masquerain, Garmeil and all three forms of Minomadamu, Korotokku, Shuckle, Parasect, Venomoth, ect.

El Gofre March 18th, 2008 1:31 PM

That would be advisable, is poisin even super effective against anything? I can remember the last time i took a SE hit off it.

Its a pity this thing doesnt get a decent stab move at all, what with no U-turn and poisin being, well poisin

Only Grass is weak to Poison.

I'd also like to apologize for my last post, which I have since deleted.

Poison is only super effective against Grass.

In RGBY, Poison was SE to Bug and Bug was SE to Poison.

I think they changed it so Parasect didn't have 3 x4 Weaknesses or something >>;

starmii3 March 18th, 2008 1:35 PM

Sorry to be a bother, but can anyone give me a effective movset for a pikachu (not raichu)

Thanks

`Ryan
