Without HP fire you have no way of hurting steel types at all. He needs it. Plus its movepool is uber-limited. The only other option would be psychic on a choice set, so if you dont wanna breed good luck with steels. But saying that good luck with anything using that thing ;)

Brave Bird's kinda redundant. EQ is already SE on infernape and the recoil from both BB and life orb will rack up very quickly.

Snorlax is OU, and a few of them are BL. Since BL isnt a metagame in itself this team is either OU or illegal.

Considering that any, and I do mean any, Steel Pokémon can OHKO a Beautifly, regardless of EV and IV help, I really don't think that I truly need Hidden Power there. Besides, we have Blaziken, and there's always Venusaur SubSeeding or something, I guess.

El Gofre May 9th, 2008 8:31 AM

Outspeeding and being able to KO them means you wouldnt need to risk your other pokes by switching into them.

And what Steel Pokémon can't outspeed a Beautifly?

El Gofre May 9th, 2008 8:38 AM

Below are the UU steels you'll be able to ourtrun, provided they are running their standard sets.
Bronzong
Forretress
Jirachi
Magnezone
Metagross
Scizor
Skarmory

Thats pretty much every OU steel, barring sweepers like lucario and heatran. It's a pretty nice number if you ask me, not to mention some of them are very popular.

I fixed your typo.

Okay, I get the point. But I still don't want to have to breed OVER NINE THOUSAAAAAAAAND!!!! Wurmples, hope I get a good one, then hope it evolves into Silcoon.

sims796 May 9th, 2008 9:39 AM

That post was epic win.

However, those are the dangers of breeding Wurmple.

Thanks.

Isn't there an easier way? You know, without cheating? Please tell me there's an easier way.

El Gofre May 9th, 2008 10:39 AM

Nope, have fun breeding ;)

The Beast May 9th, 2008 2:05 PM

Hey guys here's another post from da beast.

Charizard @ Leftovers
Jolly
Flamethrower
Fire Spin
Heat Wave
Flare Blitz
6 HP/252 ATK/252 SPD

Dunsparce May 9th, 2008 2:16 PM

*barfs*

FOUR FIRE MOVES?!?!?!

I use this non-Standrd Set for my 'Zard:

[email protected] Specs
Timid/Modest
4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Flamethrower/Fire Blast/Overheat
Dragon Pulse
HP Ground
Air Slash/Focus Punch

This is different from the standard Specs 'Zard. The only thiong that resists Fire + Dragon is Heatran, who cries when hit with HP Ground. Air Slash for Secondary STAB or Focus Punch to suprise Blissey.

EDIT: As always, the standard is better.

Xairmo May 9th, 2008 2:24 PM

You could also go BellyZard

[email protected] Berry/Leftovers
Blaze
Adamant/Jolly
EVs: 252 ATK / 252 Speed / 6 HP
-Substitute
-Belly Drum
-Fire Punch
-Earthquake

Im not sure about the EVs though >.<

El Gofre May 9th, 2008 2:34 PM

That charizard set is what I'd expect from someone who uses "the" as "da" and talks about himself in third person :|
Bellyzard is nice, its just a pity SR and priority moves screw it over. Speczard rocks my socks:

[email protected]Flame Plate Specs ;)
Timid
252SpAtt/252Spd/6HP
Flamethrower
Dragon Pulse
Air Slash
HP Ground/Fight

EDIT: Just noticed it's almost exactly the same as dunsparce's :P

Damn it. All right, fine.

What about the other five? There was Blaziken, Venusaur, Blastoise, Snorlax, and Glaceon.

umbros May 9th, 2008 5:49 PM

Hey, can I get a moveset for a Victreebell? I like the little guy, but it doesn't seem to be popular enough to have much of a standard.

Victreebel @ Life Orb
Modest nature
116 HP / 252 SpA / 32 SpD/ 108 Speed

- Sleep Powder
- Growth
- SolarBeam
- Hidden Power Fire

Set up Sunny Day with another thing and try to make it sweep.

What am I, chopped liver? I may despise breeding for Hidden Power, but I still want to build this team.

Put the 6 hp into def, and make your hp Iv even, so you can activate Salac after a sub and belly [email protected]

As for specs zard ... Why HP Ground ?? Focus Blast >> HP Ground Plzzz..

Archer May 10th, 2008 6:08 AM

HP [Ground] gets a 4x on Heatran, though. Which is pretty much the only thing that Fire+Dragon don't cover. Not to mention the increased accuracy.

What would be a good Phys Wall set for Tangrowth? Sleep Powder would be nice....

Aquilae May 10th, 2008 6:50 AM

Tangrowth @ Leftovers
Impish, 252 HP, 228 Def, 28 Speed

Sleep Powder
Leech Seed
Power Whip
Knock Off

Lol C+P from Smogon. HP Electric can be used on it for Gyara, Stun Spore can be used for random status.

Never really liked Tangrowth much, gets easily run over by Hera and Fighting neutrality kinda kills it in addition to no reliable recovery (Morning Sun would make you miss out on its egg moves - Leech Seed most notably).

And what are you going to do to T-Tar with HP Ground?

Archer May 10th, 2008 7:25 AM

Hit for 2x. It really depends on what counts as more of a threat to that particular team. If you fear TTar, then by all means, pick Focus Blast, but If you have a reliable TTar counter and you hate Heatran, then take HP [Ground]. There is also the classic Power vs Accuracy debate.

@Aquillae - It is on the same team as a Weezing. That helps.

Unlimited NiGHTS May 10th, 2008 7:43 AM

And what about that May team I was going to build?

Oh, forget it. Pokémon is far too tedious and redundant for me to have to deal with this thread as well. So much for my interest in this game.

*throws away DS Pokémon game and subscription to this thread*

Crystal Shaymin May 10th, 2008 2:13 PM
