FINALLY a Reliable Team that has been Working for Me
And here it is! I really couldn't care less about Agiligross and all those other standards, don't bring them up.
Quick EDIT: COMPETENT RATES ONLY. Anyways, Articuno is AMAZING! But there are a few holes in its walling ability I've noticed, mostly the ability to take STAB or choice specs Tbolt. Gliscor on the other hand, doesn't resist rock. After adding Claydol as a mixed wall, GlisCunoDol is almost indestructible! Tbolts and Stone Edges Cuno fears are absorbed like cotton by Claysol, acting as a splendid rock resisy. Ice types can be a drag, but Metagross takes physical ice attacks from the likes of Weavile with no problem and special ones are easily taken by Articuno. This team has only suffered two losses out of quite a few battles, as I'm starting to gain confidence in this one. Earthquake is resisted by 4 pokemon, which adds to Gross and TTar's survivability. How? Well, Choice Attackers figure out quickly that quaking my Metagross or TTar is a bad idea, and this opens up more room for me to attack with the two, as they won't be so quick to attack them head-on with ground moves. I know that a few attack types throw this team underwater, but it's pretty easy to stall out the likes of Starmie and wear them down with repeated roars from Cuno that abuse SR and Sand Stream. I won't be replacing any pokemon (unless it's salamence), so don't even bother with that. Mence replacements will be considered though. Anyways: Articuno @ Leftovers Trait: Pressure EVs: 252 HP / 96 Def / 160 SDef Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk) - Ice Beam - Heal Bell - Roar - Roost Articuno Re-vu-loo-shun! Seeing that people are actually listening to me and using Articuno, its true power and potential are being realized. The best part is that all those attacks it can't take *cough Specs Gengar Tbolt cough* are absorbed by claydol, who also takes stone edge and rock attacks. with Proper support, this thing can een outclass blissey in its own right. But again, it needs proper support :P Claydol @ Leftovers Trait: Levitate EVs: 252 HP / 132 Def / 124 SDef Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd) - Earthquake - Ice Beam - Rapid Spin - Stealth Rock Tyranitar and MixMence have met their match. the real gem is spinning and then setting up SR to beat any sashers TTar doesn't. Garchomp doesn't like this thing much either, oh the fun! Also an Electivire counter. Gliscor @ Leftovers Trait: Sand Veil EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Aerial Ace - Knock Off - Roost Hi Heracross! Hi Garchomp! Yeah, physical wall, knocks off lefties and SR and Sand Stream do the rest. The ice attacks it fears are absrobed by Metagross easily, though special ones ae better handled by Articuno. Tyranitar @ Choice Band Trait: Sand Stream EVs: 60 HP / 252 Atk / 196 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Crunch - Stone Edge - Earthquake - Pursuit CBtar destroys most anything that gets in its way. This is the most destructive thing I've ever used. Sand Stream is nice here as it ruins sashers and reversal users, and most of my team resists it. Gliscor can also use this to its advantage with Sand Veil. Salamence @ Choice Specs Trait: Intimidate EVs: 4 HP / 252 Spd / 252 SAtk Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk) - Draco Meteor - Dragon Pulse - Flamethrower - Hydro Pump Obviously CBmence is better, but I needed a strong special sweeper and this is what I stumbled upon. Metagross @ Choice Scarf Trait: Clear Body EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Meteor Mash - Earthquake - Explosion - Thunderpunch this thing kills all but Swampert and Hippowdon leads basically, of the common leads I see. And as a lead, Gyarados usually starts with a big OHKO to go with it, as a Scarfed thunderpunch is never expected. |
yeah and gross doesnt defeat donphan either. looks like an overall nice team. i dont like draco meteor on mence though but thats just me.

Just so you know, Specsmence loses A LOT of power without Draco. Being able to 2HKO more than 90% of the metagame sounds like a deal to me. Not to mention there's no worthy replacement. Really, specsmence is really meh without Draco Meteor... |
ok thanks for telling me what its used for ive ben wondering for a while. anyway ive used articuno but you need to really know how to use it. (i dont)

But let's try to stay on topic please ^_^ Anything regarding my team is really needed, as I need any edge on shoddy I can get, lol |
Three of your Pokémon are weak to Water, two of which are also weak to Ice. You also have a fourth Pokémon weak to Ice as well, making 3 Water weaknesses and 3 Ice weaknesses on your team, which weakens it.
I'd suggest Kingdra over Salamence here, to eliminate an Ice weakness. Kingdra @ Scope Lens; Sniper Modest; 252 Special Attack, 252 Speed, 6 HP Surf / Hydro Pump Dragon Pulse Hidden Power Focus Energy Hidden Power should be Fighting here, for use against Empoleon and Ice-types. You can use Surf or Hydro Pump with this, it's really your preference. Focus Energy and the held Scope Lens help with Sniper. This is my favorite, too. Another option... Kingdra @ Damp Rock / Life Orb / Leftovers; Swift Swim Modest; 252 Special Attack, 224 HP, 32 Speed Surf / Hydro Pump Dragon Pulse Hidden Power Rain Dance Again, Hidden Power should be Fighting here. I'm not entirely sure if you should use this set on this particular team, however, but it does make Kingdra a Roserade counter (Weather Ball). To eliminate the third Water weakness... Hmm. I'll have to think on it. Anyway, could you look at the teams in my signature, returning my favor? |
why in the world is metagross -sp def nature when it's not using any sp atks anyway? o.O that's needs changing. gogogogo
and proper is not the word for the kind of support articuno needs =/ you really need something faster on your team, btw. chomp and vile get away with easy SDs. |
Articuno: A great shuffler and very hard to take down without rock moves. Great defence and special defence. I'm not sure it's that scared of Gengar's Thunderbolt. Spec'd one are rare to see, usually people go for the Scarf revenge killer or Focus Sash.
Claydol: Tyranitar eats Claydol for lunch. More likely CRUNCHES it. =[ Claydol isn't close to KO'ing Garchomp with no EVs Ice Beam. Gliscor: I'd run more speed EVs to be faster than jolly T-tar. The rest in defence. If you want to counter Garchomp completely, give it Ice Fang instead of Aerial Ace; STAB'd Earthquake will beat Heracross anyway. @ Waker of Chaos - Why would he want a Rain Dance pokemon on a Sandstorm team? o.o I suggest Starmie over Claydol coz you really need a faster pokemon that can threaten some of the starters that will force Articuno to switch, Infernape for example. |

Thanks for the suggestions guys, much appreciated. Comments and crap are in bold :P But really, Kingdra would be terrible for this team >.> But any fast and powerful special sweeper suggestions...I'm open to them :P As you can see, I like choice item users a lot. Also, the ice and water weaks are never a problem, seriously. Certain type weaks are pretty overrated if you ask me (unless it actually hurts the team), but metagross takes physical ice attacks and threatens a Meteor Mash. Water weak is also lol, never really hurts me. |
Waker, please don't advertise your threads in other's. It's... well annoying.
|
- How exactly does Claydol counters DDTar?
- Gliscor needs to outrun T-Tar because CB Stone Edge does a LOT of damage to it. Faster Gliscor can use Roost and take half the damage, while threatening it with an Earthquake. |

About Gliscor: Ah, okay, gotcha. How many EVs would that be? I don't want to dent its walling ability too much. |

Standard DDtar has [email protected] Orb / Leftovers 252 ATT / 252 SPEED / 6 HP Jolly Nature - Crunch - Earthquake - Dragon Dance - Taunt / Stone Edge / Ice Beam I suggest you watch out for that last move, i got hit with it and its not pretty for bulky ground types and even with a Jolly nature, a Life Orb Ice Beam will OHKO Gliscor and Garchomp, and can 2HKO Hippowdon and Donphan. Really Crunch is mandatory and has excellent coverage with EQ, i dont know why people wouldnt run it, all Ttars i see pack crunch. Swampert is probably the best switch into this even that gets 2hko'd by a Life Orb'd Crunch after a DD =/ |
Which is why I usually pack a Yache berry on my Gliscor ;]
You need 72 EVs on your impish Gliscor to reach 244 speed, thus outrunning max speed jolly T-Tar. You will also outrun max speed adamant Breloom (239 speed). |

By ONLY Articuno? Rarely seen or not, you should be ready for as much as you can be. If Articuno has already fainted, and you end up against a Choice Specs Roserade (who usually has Weather Ball), don't come crying to me if you can't beat it. If you had read my entire post, you'd know already that I said the Sniper set was better, since I doubted you wanted to use two weather conditions on this team. Overall, about 90% of my respect for you has been deleted by your attitude towards me. Try being polite next time. I was trying to help, after all. There's no need for you to get up on your high horse and treat me like some random idiotic noob. *leaves thread* |
I've decided to delete my comments towards Waker. He'll be getting them in a nice little PM. Anybody who doesn't want to spam my thread and advertise theirs, step forward please.
|
A bit Infernape weak, try a Focus Sash on a Pokemon
|
Quote:
It should be noted that Metagross switching into nasty plot and OHKOs Infernape with EQ (also outspeeding it). |
i like outrunning adamant breloom, but jolly ttar is not very common... if you're running a CB set, i would think hitting harder is the priority.

And I'll try and see how common jolly Tyranitar comes to be, as I've never really paid attention to its nature, lol |
