Novelty Doubles

Hi all, Im Im having a double battle with my friend later so I thought I'd use this combo I thought of, take a look:

[email protected] Orb
Adamant
252Att/???
EQ
Fire Fang
Stone Edge
Explosion

[email protected] Orb
Timid
252SpAtt/152Spd/106HP
Lava Plume
Dragon Pulse
Dark Pulse
Endure

Quite a simple strategy. The faster special heatran uses lava plume, activating physical Heatran's flash fire. Fire Fang becomes quite powerful and it goes on from there. If it comes to it, specialtran can use endure and phystran can explode (Cheap I know)

Needs quite a bit of help, I thought this rough set up on new-years night with a few beers in me :P

do they both really have to be heatran? ._.

it could be as simple as sashgengar using willowisp on heatran.

El Gofre January 2nd, 2008 11:18 AM

Na its the themyness i picked them for :)

Waker of Chaos January 2nd, 2008 4:56 PM

Well, it looks just fine to me. Unless Lava Plume hits the user (doubtful), the Adamant one should use Fire Fang on the Timid one while the Timid one uses Lava Plume on the first turn. That way, both Flash Fires are activated.

As for the Adamant Heatran's remaining EVs, try 204 Speed and 52 HP.

Thanx waker, i was tryin to decide how much HP he needed. However, I was shocked by this sudden revelation; What if he uses EQ! Am I better to sash them?

ABYAY January 3rd, 2008 9:11 AM

Unfortunately... that better not stay out against quake/fliers (flying pokemon with one with quake)

That's pretty much the only downside that I'll point out because that's all I see.

El Gofre January 3rd, 2008 9:13 AM

Like i said in the above post, quaker's look like a problem. If i see a definate quaker, ill just explose there and then to get a draw :)

like samson said do they both have to be heatran? you could do with arcanine for flash fire.

ABYAY January 3rd, 2008 11:01 AM

Water Absorb/Surf team is another one that'll mess you up. (Lanturn and Vap is an example)

The concept of your team idea is great n' all, but it just has many glaring weaknesses. Exploding Heatran won't do ya good if the enemy is protecting... I know a friend that does that a lot.

Samson January 3rd, 2008 2:11 PM

in double battles, there's almost always one poke that uses earthquake and one that resists it. it's like the skarmbliss of doubles ._.

Anti January 3rd, 2008 3:55 PM

Yeah, two pokemon double weak to the most common attack move in the game is going to get you nowhere. If anything, use Charizard to have some kind of resist.

Besides, your strategy will be pretty obvious with two heatrans on the field. Really, put something in over the first heatran if you hope at all to stand a chance. It's like using two Mences in a sense, meaning good luck with HP Ice gengar.
