Great tut, El Capitano. It sure helped me getting better at smudging ^O^
|
@.freak: thanks for the comment! I am glad you liked it!
@katalyst: Is that sarcasm? :( |
No, seriously. I've smudged for a while, but with (almost) the default settings, just changing the brush type. Your tut helped me understand more at smudging. Thx. :D I'll include a tag later, not now, it's late here.
|
Wha-? Only im allowed to make smudging tuts!
Thanks Capitano, I could really use this. |
hahaha I saw it on dA. /special
Anyway. I like the tut. Very useful, thanks El Capitano. |D |

Renneh, nice tutorial. I already know how to do clipping masks, but it would be very helpful to beginners or anyone who doesn't know how to do them
Kudos to you! |
Clone stamp gets the same effect. You just have to know how to use it properly. I think I'll make a tutorial soon.

Okay, I wanted to try this, and with a Lucario sprite. But, I'm having trouble understanding this tutorial. For one, how do you get the image into the canvas? |
Quote:
If you mean the sprite, open the sprite in GIMP then copy n paste it into the canvas for the tag. ---------------- Listening to: Kanye West, Kid Cudi - Welcome To Heartbreak via FoxyTunes |
Hello. This is a splashy water tut. ^.^
Program Used: Adobe PS3
Required: Good perspective. Patience. (Also, Eye dropper and some filters) Skill Level: Beginner Step 1: Intro and "tides" -Make or copy a smooth emerald colored background layer: (My Original source layer.) http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d8/ancientronin/emerald-3.jpg ..Now, copy your layer three times... Make visible only layer 1, rename it to "tides". Select an ocean blue colored foreground, and a white background. Render some clouds, liquefy... smoothen. Done. Step 2: "Reflection" -Rename the layer on top of "tides", "reflection"... both should be visible. I will use the hard light setting on the layer for now and hit it up with a lens flare. You can add more then one flare, or not have any.. whatever your perspective is. High five yourself! Easy part over. Step 3: "Floor" -Make visible: Background, "tides", and "reflection" layers. ........Set your "tides" layer to screen mode for the time being. Once you notice that screen and hard light of the layers take effect on the background; grab the color sampler tool. Drop a cross hair 1 on the cleanest white pixel... drop cross hair 2 on a grayish emerald pixel............ Turn off the Background and rename the final layer to "Floor". .......While selected in this layer, adjust it to Multiply and open the levels plane. Use the "white point sampler" on cross hair 1 and the "gray point sampler" on cross hair 2. Lastly, distort with an ocean ripple filter. :] The smoothing out part of may take time, aswell as finding good lighting, but attention to detail is the key for me... the over all picture turned out like this: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d8/ancientronin/emeraldwater.jpg Once you get the hang it should only take about 4 mins to do. :> I know my original layer is more of a gradient, but the same effect can be made by using tools. Hope someone finds this method useful and hopefully not time constricting. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Peace. |
That's a pretty sweet result although you might not use it very often in tags... Nevertheless, it still looks pretty cool although I personally would make the flare a little less bright.
|
This section shouldn't and isn't just about making tags.
It's good for people who want to learn photoshop tips and applying them their own way, rather than just to imitate. |
Nice tut. I'll have to use it sometime (b")b
