Few Questions

I've read the thead about building a perfect team and I have a few questions about it.

1. EV's, the most I've seen for my pokmon is +4, so if i kill say 40 starly's I'll get +10 in speed, but only if my speed was orinally divisable by 4, Is what i said ryt?

2. IV's are totally random if i catch a pokemon but i could improve it can't i? Say if my pokemon is now at lvl 50, could i improve the IV? And how?

3. Whats EP on the IV calculator? I still don't know how to use it =(

I'm about the take on the elite 4, however all my pokemons in my party all do damage attacks.
I don't have say a physically sweeper/other stuff.
Are those team building stuff for gyms/elite 4 or just Wi-Fi battling.

As I haven't fought the elite 4 yet.
Probably do it soon though, currently lvling up around the water area before victory road.
Also, and ideas how i should take on the elite 4?

Party-

Torterra
Luxray
Staraptor
Floatzel
Diagla
Rampardos.

Any changes i should make? they will all be at least lvl 55.
I only just read about EV's so the stats are pretty bad.

Ps. last question.
the help thread said the total was "A Pokémon can gain the maximum of 510 EV points to split between the stats of HP, Speed, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, and Special Defense." But that can't be right. My Luxray added together (the stats) has more than 510...

lvl 58
188 hp
158 att
122 def
120 spc att
113 spc def
127 speed.
or is EV extra points?
And can i still gain it if my pokemon is lvl 100?

To answer some of your questions, IVs can't be changed, they're set with the Pokemon, so they can't be improved. Also, EVs are extra points added to your pokemon's stats, so you can't count them by simply adding all the stats. EP, I believe means Effort Points, just another name for EVs. It doesn't really matter what you do to defeat the Elite Four, just as long as you win! But for competitive battles, stuff like sweepers, walls, etc. should be used.
The EVs from 40 Starlys (assuming they each gave 1 effort point) would get you +10. But when you level up, you probably won't see plus 10 because the EVs are added over time. Don't worry, you'll see the EVs as your Pokemon levels up.

A pokemon can have a maximum of 510 EVs, not stats.
Stats do not have to be divisible by 4, just EVs
IVs are random and cannot be changed
Catch Uxie and azelf for the elite four. Azelf bolt-beams all the way through and uxie walls so you can revive azelf. I swear to god thats how i won. Your current team is overly physical, but dialga's beastlyness makes up for that.

There, that covers most of it :)

ah, thanks also, there's something else.
Just to make sure I'm certain about everything.

So say i want 252 speed, I'll kill 1008 starly's. Correct?
But it might not be added in one go, but it will eventually become 252, correct?

And how do I know if my EV is divisable by 4?
Where so I find where my EV is on my Luxray?

No Starly gives 1 point to speed so kill 252 or 126 Staravias.

You have to record the EVs yourself the game doesn't keep track of them for you.

In the thread it says for every 4 starly i kill i get 1 speed point.

So does the EV go into the stats? eg speed.
If not how does it make the pokemon stronger?

For every 4 starlys that faint you get 4 EV points it takes 4 EV points to raise a stat by 1.

You can get 63 more points added to a stat and that makes alot of difference in competitive play.

oh, i finally got it. cheers, i can start EV training my pokemon to the max.

EDIT:
Just read the thread again

So
If i want to use a Riolu in my party, what place should it play?
Do i get 0.5 Ev points if i use exp share?

Kirioroshi January 5th, 2008 7:01 AM

No you don't get half an Ev.

If i had Exp.Share on my Weavile and my Empoleon Killed a Garchomp, my weavile will get 3 Ev's and so will my Empoleon. The only thing that is shared is the Exp.

Shiraishi January 5th, 2008 9:51 AM

I recommend killing Fearows and Golbats instead of Starly :/ Golbats give 2 EVs in speed.

Kittyipawd January 5th, 2008 10:16 AM

there are better things for example use a pokerus(if you can find) it makes all the effort in half since it doubles hte amount of ev's also use ev bossting items as well AND when you finally get your ev spread use a rare candy

Dark Destiny January 5th, 2008 11:18 AM

Is there a site where it tells me all the EV's each pokemon gives?

Shiraishi January 5th, 2008 11:28 AM

Indeed there is ._. http://serebii.net/pokedex-dp/hp.shtml these are the ones for HP, if you want another stat, click the stat on the top.
