I think this can also occur when a lot of dust gets on the exposed contacts of the game.

west January 7th, 2008 6:05 PM

lol that samething happened to my crystal.
Just do this get a screwdrive the super small ones froma hardware storwe unscrew the back. now you see that circle battery thing either go to radio shack and show it to them
thy'll give you one like that and a then get tape adn pu the battery and wrap the battery around the cartridge. It cost about $10 if you buy the battery from radioshack

lostprophetsown January 9th, 2008 12:33 PM

yh its brobally is in game batter as the game is growing old and unfortunatly these things happen but if not it might be that it might be inside you know you get dust in it and you think oh ill blow it out you might not relise it but saliva gets in with it to and if it lands were it reads the game kaboom it will go crazy.

Skaterzpenguin January 10th, 2008 2:01 PM

My game use to, but now I changed the batterie in my game, so it doesn't delete itself anymore. :)

Teamtyranitar January 10th, 2008 4:08 PM

Its your battary it died Try here mine got bumped out in the wroung place so now when you battle people its a ho-oh and when you talk to signs you get gym badges

Percy Thrillington January 10th, 2008 4:23 PM

No, so far (amazingly), none of mine have except Blue.

Loto January 10th, 2008 4:39 PM

Oh man that sucks...a lot. It's happened to me on Red and thats the only one so far.

Virtual Chatot January 10th, 2008 5:42 PM

When I heard this, I ripped open my Gold Version's Covering and extracted my Save File from it.

I put more than 1400 hours into that game, I was not going to let it go to ruins.

Two questions:

1.) Would they actually do that for you? ... (probably for a price. >_<)

2.) And how hard is it to replace the battery yourself? Is it really easy to mess up the internal green board and pointy metal things inside? I want to replace the battery (Johto was my favorite region...) but I'm scared of messing it up. I suppose I could always get a cheapie replacement at gamestop, but still.

My Blue, Yellow, Silver AND Crystal all delete themselves ALL the time. :(

~BlackHeartedWolf~ February 5th, 2008 3:51 PM

Ugh...first, my Gold version deleted itself, and that really ticked me off. Then my Silver version did it not long afterwards. My Yellow version hasn't deleted itself yet, and neither has my Crystal version. But it makes me worried that my Crystal version will eventually delete itself; that's my fav out of the really old-school Pokemon games (I actually just started a new game the other day on it xD)

ArchAngel February 6th, 2008 1:31 PM

a few friends of mine (started with me) have begun to replay these games, all figuring the issue was the battery, I'll be glad to let them all know tomorrow that it was actually just the battery, and only has to be replaced.

Thanks everyone ^^

Yeah, my Gold deleted itself last year... My other versions haven't erased themselves yet... *gulp*
Is it possible to change the battery without losing the data? If I didn't have my doubts, I would've changed them long ago.

Yeah, I acutally called the number and talked to some lady that told me the warranty was a ninety-days thing. >_< I've had that game for like six years! So... yeah.

I actually replaced my battery this morning (my brother helped me... me + machines = bad) and it works just great! I was so excited. *Oh, and instead of using scotch tape to tape the battery to the contacts, I'd recommend electrical tape. My bro said it wouldn't hurt the circuit board as bad. I guess if you have to replace it in a couple years or something.

...woot! ^^

You will probably inevitably lose the data. But of course, if it keeps deleting your save file, you probably wouldn't have anything worth keeping; why are you worried? If it keeps your save file after you have the GBC off for a while, then you don't need to replace it.

SonicJump February 12th, 2008 12:25 PM

My game did that too - I remember playing my Gold version non-stop for years! Oh well - I'll have to take the time to get a new battery for it! =] It's well worth the money!

UBCS February 14th, 2008 4:18 PM

My Silver Deleted itsef and i got Mew in it. G/S/C was the best games ever, and it's anoying that Nintendo won't make a G/S/C remake like Leaf Green and Fire Red.
But it's good we got people like ZEL.

*PrincessPika-chu* February 18th, 2008 11:29 AM

I replaced the internal battery to my gold today, and now it saves and keeps it. I didn't really need a soldering iron. The cartridge applies force so the battery can keep in place. I am trying to get my crystal battery off, but it is stuck on there.:)

zachs06 February 20th, 2008 5:10 PM

Argh! that happened to me too, my silver ran COMPLETELY dry.
As soon as I remove the cart, i loose my whole save.

wolverfrog February 23rd, 2008 2:40 AM

on my pokemon silver, whenever i saved i had to play it again within the hour or my save got deleted:\

Poke,Kid12 February 23rd, 2008 9:30 PM
