strong attacks for high levels

Why is it that pokemon learn strong attacks at high levels example .

salamence learns double edge at lvl 70 . Double is a strong attack but at lvl

70 it doesnt need that attack to be strong salamence is already powerful at

that so it doesnt need that move . if you get what i mean sa yes if not heres

a nother example.Groudon learns eruption at lvl 80 . It doesnt need that

move groudons already really strong. If any pokemon should learn strong

attacks at low levels.

Yes, and if you havent noticed, most of the worthwhile moves are usually BREEDED/TM Learnt/Move Learner/Medium Levels (30-50) because after that... you exchane ACCURACY for POWER... which is not a smart choice...
look at it:

a move that has 85 Accuracy and 120 power
compared to a move with 100 accuracy and 80 Power..
Ok, the 100 accuracy does 80 and 80 (160 Power altogether)
85 Acuracy one does 0 (misses) and 120 (only 120 Power altogether)
On top of that, the PP for the Move with high power, is lower..
It is not really worth it now... huh?

Arrmegedden January 10th, 2008 7:13 PM

its almost like a pokemon learning one hit KO moves at lvl 99. They dont need strong attacks at that high level .

Ársa January 10th, 2008 7:20 PM

ok....

But that is like saying you want to start out with a Chimchar that knows Close combat, Flamethrower, Nasty Plot and Grass Knot...

The point is the drive to get your pokemon to those high levels to achieve the better attacks. Making those attacks higher levelled means that you will play the game longer, and that it provides a suitable challenge. You picked the wrong series of games to "wimp" out on my friend.

~T_S

Arrmegedden January 10th, 2008 7:27 PM

wimp out :( on. this is my favorite game and you still dont get my point . Pokemon's stats go up every level so if there attack or special attack gets higher the attacks it knows power increases because of the pokemons stats.

Ársa January 10th, 2008 7:43 PM

yes, but you don't get my point. the higher attacks are at a higher level so that it is harder to make them stronger. With the inclusion of level stabalizing in DP, if you got what you wanted, we wouldn't find any pokemon with a level over 40, because it would have the perfect set. Also, no-one is going to level it up to get crap moves, hence move sets would become obvious and every man and his dog would be able to use a moveset, as there would be only one. Pokemon would become boring, and people would stop playing, purely because you don't like the fact you've gotta train it.

If you have a problem, hack, but don't speak to me about that.

~T_S

Arrmegedden January 10th, 2008 7:54 PM

why would i hack people who hack games may as well not play games because there so bad at games that they have to cheat .

Idiot! January 11th, 2008 12:53 AM

If you find leveling up just for moves such a drag, don't evolve your Pokémon too early. The strong moves are somewhat of an encouragement for some people to level up their Pokémon more as they find the higher the level, the stronger the learnable moves.

Imagine your at the Second Gym.
You have a Piplup.
She has a Roserade
how annoying would it be if Roserade used energy ball and OHKO you.

maybe thats the reason.

El Gofre January 11th, 2008 8:46 AM

On the other side of lemon's coin, how unrealistic would it be if piplup could get blizzard? High attacks+High levels are the stuff of competetive play, you never see a RMT saying "I gave my tyranitar tackle cuz he's strong enough without it" do you?

Arrmegedden January 11th, 2008 5:13 PM

knowone gets it say a pokemon learns a one hit kill move at lvl 100
to lvl 100 all moves are one hit kills because of the streangh of the pokemon

Kim Do-yeon January 11th, 2008 5:17 PM

As everyone says breed because I have gotten myself a Hydro Pump knowing Totodile.

please your brain...
is swords dance going to OHKO?
nope.
is tackle going to OHKO a lvl 70+?
is Fissure/Sheer Cold/Guilottine going to even hit?
1/5 chance o.O

spike6958 January 11th, 2008 5:46 PM

Why is this guy playing Pokemon? he doesn't even understand the basics, as your Pokemon grow so do there power and ability to use more powerful attacks, thats why you have to train Pokemon hence the title "Pokemon Trainer", if you where given a Pokemon with the 4 best attacks it could use no one would train them because there would be no motivation and would ultimately destroy all that is good about playing pokemon.

Saryka January 11th, 2008 6:28 PM

Kay, Arrmegeddenmon, if you're thinking that a lvl 100 Pokémon of ANY species is invincible, it definitely is not. Just because the Poke is at level 100, doesn't mean it's gonna kill EVERYTHING.

Think about this...
let's say you have a lvl 100 spinda and a lvl 70 Ho-oh.
Spinda's gonna die. Know why?
It has sucky stats.

And besides, power is definitely not everything. Suppose you've got a Deoxys-D at lvl 70 and a lvl 100 Golem. Golem uses some physical attack (can't name one off the top 'o me head :/). Good chance that Deoxys will survive. Why? It's got the defense of a god!

Okay, so maybe my examples are awfully exaggerated. But you catch my drift, right?

OHKO moves are lol IMO...

Kirioroshi January 11th, 2008 8:41 PM

OHKO are Lol. would you rather just kill something with 2 Super effective hits or take 5 turns to kill one thing?

And i don't understand you because i really don't know what your on about.

That's a weak argument. Say a Heracross is going up against an Alakazam. With Choice scarf, Heracross will outrun Alakazam, and will no doubt OHKO it with a Megahorn. Whereas instead I use X-Scissor, possibly don't kill it and get KO'd by a Psychic. Megahorn has 85% accuracy and a 100% chance of KOing Alakazam if it hits. For risking 15% I have a healthy Heracross rather than a dead one and a special sweeper to worry about.
