Will add more i'm just researching some UU sweepers.

sims796 January 10th, 2008 7:18 PM

Claydol isn't UU-it's OU.

It's better if you just add everything at once.

PhoenixFlare January 10th, 2008 8:04 PM

But Claydol is OU if you need an UU spinner try Hitmontop. Although there aren't many spikers in UU i think.

Iceman3k January 10th, 2008 8:10 PM

Claydol is obvious OU. Also, this is how REAL men use Torkoal:

Torkoal
Nature: Relaxed
Ability: White Smoke
Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 176 Def / 40 SAtk
- Stealth Rock / Yawn
- Rapid Spin
- Gyro Ball
- Lava Plume
You get to Spin and Spike in one swoop.

Samson January 10th, 2008 9:58 PM

actually, claydol is in between the BL and UU tiers. it's definitely not OU anymore.

amensia + iron defense + yawn really have to go. torkoal has a lot better stuff to be doing.

Chompah :x January 11th, 2008 12:34 AM

claydol isn't OU at all.
smogon says its UU.
thank you for the moveset iceman3k and samson.

Iceman3k January 11th, 2008 2:11 AM

Hmph. They can think whatever they want, but I still think Claydol is OU because it's going to block damn near everything in the UU Metagame.

Anyway, Quick Attack over Return on Swellow.

Yeah it's such a great wall and I dont understand why peeps dont use it..

Syaoran January 11th, 2008 5:27 AM

Because it has many common weaknesses and can't heal itself (Rest aside).

I don't understand why Facade AND Return on Swellow..? U-turn please.

Anti January 11th, 2008 12:29 PM

Claydol is simply too powerful for UUs though, it'll wall most of the metagame. And well.

Not to mention Smogon also said Tentacruel was OU, I don't really trust that tier list anymore.

I'd replace Claydol with something like Tenta (it's UU, don't listen to Smogon on that.) I really wish I knew enough about this gen's UU metagame to continue my rate, but I don't >.>
Oh, replace Psychic on Froslass, pretty bad coverage and isn't so useful. Hidden Power would be better really (Fighting probably, or Dark would be decent).

xxspeedy101 January 11th, 2008 12:35 PM

I'd say flame orb over toxic orb since swellow isn't effected by the attck decrease so the only difference between the two is that toxic does more damage to yourself.

Kittyipawd January 11th, 2008 12:37 PM

I know that pickchu can be a good mixed sweeper but only with light ball , yet i don't have that much UU experience

Tentacruel is good this gen as in it got Knock Off and other useful support moves such as Toxic Spikes.

Its probably one of the best rapid spinners as is doesnt get loled at by Spin Blockers Gengar, Spiritomb and Dusknoir (Dusknoir only causes problems if its packing T-Punch) It uses them as Toxic Spikes set up fodder Gengar cant 2hko it without specs either, Spiritomb and dusknoir get crippled by Toxic Spikes if they come back in, also due to its great Sp.Def and is probably one the best mixape counters, hence why its increasing in popularity lately. its more OU/BL. In OU, you'll find his ability to spin away Spikes and Stealth Rock and switch into Aura Sphere and Fire Blast with little risk most welcome Its definately not UU, its too good for that tier.

Claydol is OU/BL , so get that out of there.

Also why are you using 2 Rapid Spinners ? Its overkill.

Anti January 11th, 2008 12:54 PM

Tenta is certainly useful in OUs, but it is easily counterable in UUs, making even the idea of it being OU a joke, especially when it can't wall choice specs thunderbolt or psychic attacks to save its life...and did I mention EQ?

Lickitung could knock off items and be a cleric, how useful was that in ADV?

I really think Tentacruel would be nice for this team though (it is UU after all). Best part is that you won't need it to spin, which opens up a moveslot.

And I reiterate, Tentacruel is not too powerful for UUs at all...

Samson January 11th, 2008 1:33 PM

i don't think it's the fact that tenta is too good for the UU tier. it just does well in the OU tier because it does a good job against common OU strategies.

Syaoran January 11th, 2008 3:13 PM

It's OU because it is overused, literally. Smogon are slowly starting to base their tier list according to Shoddy. Personally I believe both Tentacruel and Claydol should be BL. According to their old tier list even Mamoswine was UU, but now due to increase in his usage he is OU.

Like suggested Pikachu does make a cute UU sweeper, it hits hard and can take even Blissey down with a predicted Focus Punch, just beware to not get his item knocked off.

ya without light ball you might aswell evolve it into a Raichu >.>

Anti January 11th, 2008 4:44 PM

Seriously, the criteria and judgment for all these tier lists keeps changing...last I checked OU and BL were standards, BL being pokemon too powerful for UU that saw little use in Standard play, and NU was...well...NU. I don't think usage has anything to do with the BL tier (though it's a stupid tier to begin with, really).

Okay, I'm going to try to stay on-topic...

Again, needs special walling. SinceTenta's status is up in the air, I'll go to my favorite special wall of all time (no, it isn't mantine)...

Hypno @ Leftovers

This post kinda contradicted the top one...

...For the pure fact that there are a few pokes who works well in OU, but not UU.

Shedinja is an awesome example. He is awful in any tier, but pretty effective in Uber, if you can believe it.

Kittyipawd January 11th, 2008 4:57 PM

cradily is in UU tier and if he gets a sand storm he is a REALLY good wall . , claydol would also get a boost

Unfortunately theres nothing in the UU tier to start a permanent sandstorm which is what Cradilly needs to be effective.

.amlex. January 11th, 2008 6:07 PM

Well in my opinion, using Camerupt is way better than a Torkoal. And the fact is that there are not many spikers in UU battles. Camerupts Ability Solid Rock is really effective.

Camerupt @ Leftovers
Calm or Bold 252-Sp.Att, 100-HP, 152-Sp.Def
Stealth Rock/ Amnesia
Yawn
Earth Power
Eruption/Lava Plume (Whichever you like better)

You were searching for sweepers... Primeape is pretty good.

If you want more explanation on mosets just ask. But I am by no means an expert

Chompah :x January 11th, 2008 9:40 PM

Thanks everyone for their help.

El Gofre January 12th, 2008 7:52 AM

Yeah but amlex, your set for camerupt is special orientated while torkoal is physical, its like comparing blissey to skarmory.

And nice team btw.
