What do you play you Pokemon GBA Games for?

I play my'n to transfer Pokemon like Articuno and Groudon.

yaminokaitou January 20th, 2008 10:05 PM

I play it to transfer my pokemon to Pearl. It's kind of sad, but I'm horribly sick of FireRed...

Uryū Ishida January 21st, 2008 2:48 AM

I used to play them to transfer pokemon to my diamond, but now i have finished that, so i sold my FR.

Denuo January 21st, 2008 3:52 AM

I like them, a bit more fast paced than Diamond, and to have a bit of a break.

Although, now that I have diamond I don't play them very often, but I still do now and then.

Sam

Jessie January 21st, 2008 6:56 AM

I play them because I don't have Pearl yet (or a DS for that matter...) and to transfer Pokemon once I do get Pearl. xD

msdmario January 21st, 2008 7:58 AM

I bought Fire Red and Emerald to migrate all those Pokemon you can't get in Diamond. Now that I caught them all in Diamond, I play Fire Red and Emerald more often now trying to catch them all as well.

darkrai_of_darkness2 January 21st, 2008 8:01 AM

same here migration
thats why i bought fire red and all of them for

mrshaun7 January 21st, 2008 9:21 AM

I guess we all do it for the same reason. I wonder what other reasons are...

Rebellious Treecko January 21st, 2008 9:50 AM

I play them because I just...enjoy them. (And to trade Pokemon via Pal Park)
I've restarted my Emerald game a few times, so I can level up my Pokemon more at the beggining. :P

Like Ausaudriel said, I have some good memories of my Ruby version, but it's lost now, so I play Emerald instead.
I love the music in R/S/E, mostly the music for routes 119/120.

I actually like R/S/E better than D/P.

Idle. January 21st, 2008 10:23 AM

I play them for the fun of completing them.I don't restart but I think I should restart emerald or maybe I should get all the BF symbols and train a great team.Choices..

mrshaun7 January 21st, 2008 1:03 PM

I only play to transfer then raise them there.

mad567 January 21st, 2008 1:07 PM

well all time classics i play my emerald to get some shinies

blubergate January 27th, 2008 11:50 AM

ummmmm, i don't get it, i play them because they are just as good as D/P, the only differene is graphics, i play firered and emerald just as much as my diamond, i mean what is the difference? really!

Sajiri January 27th, 2008 12:27 PM

I play Emerald because I think its far more fun than D/P. Also I prefer to breed an EV train in emerald because I keep losing my EV value list for Sinnoh and I know the best ev training spots in emerald. I recall not being able to find any decent ev training places in Pearl anyway (apart from Sp Atk)

mrshaun7 January 29th, 2008 7:39 PM

Hmmm... It seems like the Majority of us uses them to transfer...

Skaterzpenguin January 30th, 2008 9:10 AM

I sometimes transfer my pokemon to diamond and pearl because it seems easier to train. ;) also I am playing my ruby version as well, so far I have 3 badges. :)

Smarties-chan January 30th, 2008 9:22 AM

I play Emerald for the faster breeding as well as the tutored moves. I started a new game after migrating all my stuff to Diamond because I need to get a good IVd, Regirock, Regice and Registeel and Groudon, Kyogre and Rayquaza. (so sue me if I enjoy an Uber match every now and then. :x) Firered, I play for fun. Kanto is my favorite region of all time and the gameplay is generally much more enjoyable than in the newer games. FR/LG also happen to be the only two Pokémon games that (in my opinion) actually have some memorable tracks. I love everything from the route themes to the final battle music and there are very few (if any) tracks in Firered and Leafgreen that I dislike. That, and there's the nostalgia factor. The graphics are also the best Pokémon game graphics ever made in my opinion.

I agree to everything, except the tracks and game graphics part ;).

JoeHalo January 30th, 2008 10:00 AM

use

i just play the games to transfer the pokemon i bought emerald version so i could get a gligar and other pokemon im very sick of my leafgreen version before i wanted to buy firered to get a growlithe and a scyther. I restart my games a lot on leafgreen i had a level 65 charizrd and i think a level 70 dragonite i beat leafgreen and got to the other island that i could catch pokemon from gold and silver but i restarted that file that was stupid of me.

mrshaun7 January 30th, 2008 2:44 PM

Wow. I agree with all. I will start a poll on this.

ultimatelegend5 January 30th, 2008 4:45 PM

I play mine for fun and when I get Diamond I'm going to transfer it over

*LuckyStarIsLucky* January 30th, 2008 4:48 PM

for fun and for transferring. such as training starmie to level 100 and then migrating

mrshaun7 January 30th, 2008 5:00 PM

Starmie is a good Pokemon. I have two at level 100 that were migrated from Pokemon LeafGreen

*LuckyStarIsLucky* January 30th, 2008 5:03 PM

i know. it beat my friends CELEBI
btw mrshawn7, are you mrshawn7 from pokebeach?

mrshaun7 January 30th, 2008 5:07 PM

yes I am. why? PLease PM me if you wish to talk to me about off topic things. (not to be mean)

lostprophetsown January 31st, 2008 8:45 AM

lol i just enjoy playing them and completing them then a few months later ill restart and play again i also migrate from pal park but i mainly play them for fun

Le_Avatar January 31st, 2008 11:57 AM

I play them because I enjoy them, I play Emerald for the breeding purpose that differs from D/P, and I play them to migrate too.

PokéPunk January 31st, 2008 12:24 PM

I play them because their fun, but I started being a bit more motivated so I can transfer them to Diamond.

GamerFreak January 31st, 2008 3:07 PM

I enjoy playing all of the Pokémon games equally, so yes, I still play them. Lately, I haven't been playing them as much because I am working on a new team for my Pokémon Pearl Version.

I do enjoy playing the first and second Pokémon generations as well. There still great to play, and I really enjoy them.

Te-em January 31st, 2008 3:48 PM

Because I like playing Pocket Monsters and to trade, collect and battle. And also to transfere some Pokemon to DP.

mrshaun7 January 31st, 2008 5:17 PM

How! look at the poll fill up. still, most of us use them to migrate

PokemonTrainerApril February 1st, 2008 3:49 AM

I use them to migrate as well.

But the GBA games are TONS of fun, I love Kanto and Hoenn.

Like others said, Kanto and Hoenn are just plain AWSOME, and they're a great break from the D/P series. ^_^

I should've voted for "For the fun of it ", but I voted for the top reason instead. Stupid Stupid me. x_x

Now I want to play Fire Red and Sapphire again, so i'm gonna go get my GBASP now.

Teamtyranitar February 1st, 2008 4:03 AM

i still play them for the fun of it and to transferer pokemon

I feel the same way. I love Hoen and Kanto so I play them a lot. Only problem I have with Firered is it's too short. So when I get D/P I'm gonna transfer them over, and then play Ruby for fun.

I am pretty sure I made it so you can vote more than once on the Poll...

neonlights February 1st, 2008 9:33 AM

I like playing Pokemon on my GBA cus that means that I can play it on the go!

Lorin February 1st, 2008 11:22 AM

yeah i just play it for fun i cant wait till i get Diamond Or Pearl cause it sounds cool

mrshaun7 February 1st, 2008 3:20 PM

Hmmm... I wonder if the upcoming Pokemon Platinum will have the migrating thing...

Commander_Latios February 1st, 2008 3:22 PM

why do I play the GBA games?

i play FRLG for transferring pokemon (because there's not a lot you can really do in frlg, like you can in RS and particularly E)

I play RSE for fun. Anything Worth Transferring usually gets duped and then transferred. I restart about twice a month after getting bored with the previous file.

ultimatelegend5 February 1st, 2008 3:43 PM

I agree FRLG is quite dull after you beat elite four

mrshaun7 February 1st, 2008 5:06 PM

Yes it is. Although it was the only game that after the league, you go on a new adventure, until DP came out.

ultimatelegend5 February 1st, 2008 5:18 PM

True, but that quest is very short, when I play firered, or leaf green, I usually breed and train my pokes.

+Sneasel™ February 1st, 2008 5:19 PM

i still play them for fun, i don't own P/D, or a DS :(
Why does everyone always say there isn't much to do in the game.
You didn't think that when it came out...

JoeHalo February 1st, 2008 5:22 PM

start

im playing a new file now on my emerald version for fun i started with a treecko

mrshaun7 February 2nd, 2008 8:34 AM

Hmmm... Treeko is actually the Pokemon I usually start out with in Emerald

well I think because I kind of compare fire red/ leaf green to ruby and sapphire, and there is a major different. In Ruby and Sapphire there is a lot more to do IMO

Dialga450 February 2nd, 2008 9:22 AM

I play them because i have nothing to do. Another is that i am the most powerful champion ever and i won't let that down.

Percy Thrillington February 2nd, 2008 9:29 AM

I play them for past time's sake, really. That, and to finish the various dexes I never completed.

!!! WHAT DID YOU SAY???? DOES THAT MEAN WE HAVE A GSC REMAKE COMING?

Anyways, I like to play them as I love the graphics and the stories were original, even in Firered and Leafgreen because they wrote all of that stuff for the Sevii Islands and my Original Leafgreen i got very far in and it took me months to finish it as there was so much to do and see.

actually what I heard is that Platinum may be a remake of G/S/C for the Ds. But that is speculation because there is two versions for every release.

I already contacted the Pokemon USA Company. They said most likely not.

BeachBoy February 3rd, 2008 10:05 AM

I like to play them as a break from Diamond...just like get away really.

Firered and sapphire most of the time...

ok well why would it be a remake of DP (you mean Diamond and Peal right?) When it came out only like a while a go?

mrshaun7 February 3rd, 2008 11:39 AM

because after a new regioned game, they make another one using the new region so it will catch on and all that.

The Virus February 4th, 2008 8:49 AM

I play them because I like them. Not for transfering Pokemon to DP, not for training Pokemon that will be eventually transferred to DP, but just because I like playing them.

Quote:

Pokemon USA doesn't decide if a GSC remake will be made, Game Freak does.

Treeckouser February 4th, 2008 9:50 AM

Well, of course I play for fun. I love the GBA games, even more then the Ds ones! I don't like the D/P contests...

I think the GBA contests are slightly better as well

Te-em February 4th, 2008 11:55 AM

I don't like Contests at all. They have kind of ruined the game somewhat, but I guess there is a lot of people who likes them.

PikachuFan00 February 4th, 2008 3:04 PM

I play mine to follow with what the season 1 does in the show?

I um, play them because I enjoy them? After I transfered my important Pokemon from Emerald to my Diamond version I restarted it, but I left my Sapphire as-is. I spent way too much time perfecting that, and it has too many memories to just move all of my Pokemon and nuke it. I still pick it up when I feel nostalgic from time to time.

I feel the same way about my Ruby but I went ahead and moved all three regis to my Diamond... Once I migrate Mewtwo, though, Leafgreen is getting restarted.

I like them because they're a lot faster. The battles don't take nearly as long even with battle anim. on. The characters move faster when walking, too. :S I guess I'm just impatient, but Diamond battles are a pain in the butt with animations on.

That would be amazing. My gold stopped saving, my brother messed his silver up with a game shark, and my *other* brother lost his crystal. So we're all Johto-deprived. :( It's really quite depressing. And a new gold version is like ninety bucks to buy new from someone over the net.

well I'm hoping it does happen, because they remade R/B so G/s/C is next in theory

moon February 5th, 2008 1:37 PM

But try out Shiny Gold or the (soon-to-be?) Platinum version, while waiting for the official re-makes. :P

Or start a new game. It's sad to lose your recorded things in a gameboy game (why is there only 1 slot?) but the strange happiness you get every time you start a game over... ouh.
Of course though, it's not completely as fun when you've done this a couple hundred times...

~BlackHeartedWolf~ February 5th, 2008 3:48 PM

Pretty much all 3 reasons. My friends that have the Diamond and Pearl games like it when I have my GBA with me, so that they can put my Pokemon in their Pal Park. That's how my one friend ended up with a Moltres and Zapdos xD

But I also play them because I myself don't have a DS. But when I do get one, I plan on putting everybody on my GBA games into the Pal Park. Plus, it's fun reminiscing a little xD

smile! February 5th, 2008 4:59 PM

Just to play what I haven't played..
RS = Done (Ruby)
Emerald = No
FR = Now playing
DP = Nearly at the E4, then someone deleted my game >_<
Crystal = Done a long time ago..
RBY = Had a look at the graphic, lost my enthusiasm..

That is EXACTLY where i come from on this.

also, who said emerald had nothing to do after the elite four?

first, you've got a megaton of legendaries left over. seriously, groudon, kyogre, regis (unless you already took care of that. I didn't.) Latias (forget latios. I can just port him over from ruby or use AR codes.) and, fi you don't qualify it as hacking (and i don't as long as you catch them fairly, meaning without masterball codes or the like) mew, ho-oh, deoxys, lugia.

and then there's battle frontier, which is a whole 'nother ballgame. it lasts about six times as long as the Sevii islands quests, and is more rewarding.

that's what emerald is for. I restart, like i said, twice a month just for the heck of it.

mrshaun7 February 7th, 2008 5:53 AM

wow. this thread is getting pretty popular. i haven't played a Pokemon Game in a while. I do not know what to do...

You wouldn't play R/B/Y just because of the graphics? You are INSANE!!!

Kotowari February 11th, 2008 1:31 PM

I play them for fun. I really enjoy playing the Pokemon games now and then... that reminds me I gotta start playing them again... ^^' I've played MD for quite a while now... Maybe I should restart FireRed?
Ah well, and I don't have DS...yet..

mrshaun7 February 11th, 2008 4:12 PM

armond8877 May 24th, 2008 5:22 PM

Dave-o-rama May 24th, 2008 5:26 PM

Hadim Sinan Pasha May 24th, 2008 6:21 PM

Migrating pokemon sauch as CBGross or Agiligross. I want FR or LG (I had one but some guy stole it) so tha I can get Electivire and Magmortar although I could just buy PBR for that.

Crash Pokemon May 24th, 2008 10:27 PM

I am a fan and for the fun of it

Pokemon Trainer 45 May 25th, 2008 10:11 AM

The only reason I play my other old games is for the transfering on pokemon Diamond/Pearl and just having fun and bored.

I am using an Emulator to play FR. I used to have LG, but I lost it and idk where it is. Not to mention I am broke. If I had money I would buy FR and LG (again). Then I wanna buy a DS/Diamond. THEN I would transfer Poke's over.
