My first real Poketeam?! =O
Help and criticism is greatly appreciated.
I'm new to this whole thing, so yeah. Be gentle. 1st Gen Team.. Snorlax @ Leftovers EVs: 232 HP/136 Def/140 SpDef Careful Nature Curse Body Slam Yawn Return Machamp @ Muscle Band EVs: 240 HP/220 ATK/50 Speed Adamant Nature Substitute Bulk Up Close Combat Cross Chop Slowbro @ Shell Bell EVs:212 HP/252 Def/44 SpAtk Quiet Nature Surf Grass Knot Thunderwave Psychic Magneton @ Leftovers EVs: 10 Def/248 Speed/252 SpAtk Modest Nature Thunder Thunder Wave Rain Dance Hidden Power Exeggutor @ Petaya Berry EVs: 212 HP/88 SpDef/124 Speed/84 SpAtk Mild Nature Sunny Day Substitute Solar Beam Psychic Golem @ Choice Band EVs: 144 HP/244 ATK/ 132 Speed Lonely Nature Earthquake Explosion Flamethrower Stone Edge |
Looks like an ADV team with a few DP things :0
I'll let everybody else cover the obvious imperfections, I'll cover the rest... Golem isn't very good in OUs to be honest. Rhyperior does Cbing way better. If you really want to keep the 1st gen theme, I really suggest using even Rhydon over it. That curselax set is really meh. In fact, I've found curselax to be meh altogether this generation. ResttalkLax can take special hits WAY better and is IMO the superior set. Machamp is also terribly redundant with two fighting moves. Replace Close Combat with Stone Edge and No Guard as the ability. Really though, due to this team's lack of speed, Choice Scarf Machamp would be better. For Maggy, needs Magnet Pull don't forget, and HP Fire. The thunderdancer is really meh. MAggy is mostly for trapping steels, and is great for trapping CBgross trapped on Meteor Mash. HP Fire becomes really useful for Forretress. Over Rain Dance, you'll probably want Magnet Rise. Simply don't use sunnybeamer Eggy. TTar and Hippo are WAY too common and will wall you to death with Sand Stream. |
I don't know about ADV, really, but Golem is pretty good in OU. I used to use an un-EV trained one that beat many good players here.
The thing that makes Golem stand out from Rhy is Explosion. But not with CBing. I don't feel like rating, so someone else can handle the rest of the obvious mistakes. I'll just do Golem Golem:Leftovers/Life Orb Nature:Adamant/Impish Earthquake Stone Egde Stealth Rock Explosion EV:252 ATK/148 DEF/108 HP |
CB Explosion is quite a BOOMing time!
Golem @ Choice Band Trait: Rock Head EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def <--Probably bad EVs lol Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) - Earthquake - Stone Edge - Explosion - Double-Edge Kewl. Flamethrower...not so much. |
I too, have problems with EV's.
I underestimate CB Booming. |
CB BOOM!ing is pretty much a guarenteed OHKO on anything that doesn't resist.
|
I find 'BOOMING' is gay without STAB.
And why does Slowbro have Shell Bell? |
Only one Pokemon (not counting Smeargle) gets Boom with STAB. That's pretty moot.

Either way, I'll do the list of normal stuff now... -2 attacks of the same type on one pokemon is usually bad and redundant. Well, that's the only one it violates I really see lol Weather pokemon really aren't great due to the popularity of TTar and Hippowdon. |
Lickilicky gets 'BOOM!' with STAB. Thats the only reason I remember it.
|

That means Explosion on everything else is gay .__. And that would be Lickilicky. Snorlax gets STAB Selfdestruct iirc too. You've actually summed it up there. |
Metagross uses Explosion great with 135 base Atk...even w/o STAB, it will OHKO 95% of the metagame with a Choice Band.
|
That also doesn't make too much sense. Base 250 is base 250. Painful from whatever uses it. That means
Meta Forretress Bronzong And others who lack a reliable healing move can go out with a big bang, taking out whomever gets hit. It almost guarentees a KO on anything that doesn't resist. |
I just got done running this team on Pokenetbattle (with the exploding golem) and won everytime except for when I was poison-stalled by a synthesis blissey

I replaced those moves with Return. |
So are we supposed to rating this as a 3rd or 4th Generation team?
|
Quote:
Rate it however you want to. |
Quote:
Basically, is this going to be used in the 3rd or 4th generation metagame? |

In that case, take off grass knot and all that...since ADV is my specialty of sorts, this'll be easier lol
Well, nothing on this team can switch into CBmence safely. CBtar-any CBer really-will blow down your team (this is why Golem is for UU play.) McGar can also mow you down pretty much effortlessly. Other SkarmBliss Killers like Boah have a similar impact on you. Basically, this team needs stronger walling. Curselax is a good start...but wants the moveset seen in Compiled guides. Off you go. Get a physical wall to help Lax, and preferably a better bulky water than Slowbro. Oh, here's a good resource for ADV stuff. Read up. EDIT: the question haunts me...does that count as linking to other forums? I mean, that isn't really a forum or anything...delete it if it is though mods...thanks ^_^ |

would that be good? |

s most precious asset is its speed. Taking that away would be a DIRE mistake. If you want something really good to cursepass to, try Rhydon or Steelix. |
