It's Time for Tortured_Souls Favourites...

Please close this Loquacity, I wanna post a Rain Dance team I've been working on.

Thanks,

Charge Beam > Psychic on Cresselia since you get the MockBoltBeam and the Special Attack Boost.

Kingdra doesn't totally need two STAB moves. I'd get Icebeam for MockBoltBeam.

Alakazam and Tyranitar can do some damage to this team ._.

Dragon Pulse hits Dragons. Psychic takes care of Mix-Ape, but I suppose I have enough resistences to it.

I don't know exactly, but Mach Punch would take a Sizeable chunk out of T-Tar, and if I can get Rain Dance up against T-Tar, Sandstream won't protect it from Special Attacks, so bye bye. I may replace Mach Punch with Triple Kick, as Technician makes it hugely powerful, but the speed is a necessity.

Zam = Phail against Absol and Yanmega, as well as Cress counters.

Ice Beam > Dragon Pulse on Kingdra , it hits harder on Dragons that way.

Ársa January 23rd, 2008 11:17 PM

ahhh, Dragon Pulse gets STAB, and has enough to KO dragons, and gives better all around coverage. (Allows me to hit Empoleon)

uh one thing. you said absol's pursuit is almost as strong as ttars? yah, ima have to disagree. jolly nature with choice scarf compared to adamant nature with choice band.

the nature and evs on cresselia aren't the best. if you aren't going to give it defensive evs to take variants of outrage and pursuit from physical sweepers, then at least give weezing will-o-wisp rather haze so that it can immediately hurt choice item holders.

you may also want to consider thunder on weezing since rain dance is up anyway and kingdra is threatened by scarf variants of dragons. may as well benefit from it to the best of your ability.

the biggest problem with this team is nothing hits hard enough and nothing on your team can really take status all that well. what would you do to a dusknoir who would just burn your only counter anyway?

hitmontop is a good spinner because of its typing and bulk, but that set isn't doing it any good. it'll just get scared away/made useless with status or die pretty early on in the battle. either you give it CB (which isn't all that good of an idea) or you replace absol for something that can hit a whole lot harder and effectively.

Steel resists Dragon. Surf has higher power. So Surf would deal more damage to Empoleon. Almost all the dragon types used in OU are Dragon Flying or Dragon Ground. And so, I prove to you that Icebeam will have a better chance to KO Dragons.

boo836 January 24th, 2008 5:27 PM

Surf may be stronger but has 4x resistance against an empoleon but dragon pulse is 2x resistance.

luke January 24th, 2008 5:31 PM

Surf is only resisted 2x by Empoleon. O.o; What are you talking about?

Azonic January 24th, 2008 5:47 PM

Tortured_Soul said that Dragon Pulse would allow Kingdra to hit Empoleon. I just said Dragon Pulse will have no additional effect to what Surf has, and the power is actually weaker than Surf. =x So my point is that Dragon Pulse really is outclassed by Ice Beam on Kingdra.

Edit: and boo, Water resists Steel, not the other way around

luke January 24th, 2008 5:52 PM

Not you azonic. I'm talking to boo. Surf isn't double resisted by Empoleon.

Faceless* January 24th, 2008 5:58 PM

Scizor wall cause some potential problems if it were common enough

Ice Beam over Dragon Pulse on Kingdra, Hydro Pumps enough for STAB for that matter

What I meant was, Dragon Pulse does more to Empoleon, I have replaced with Ice Beam, but I believe that Dragon Pulse would do more to the majority of opponents, as it wasn't [u]just[/b] there for Dragons.

Empoleon i dont think can do much to either Weezing or Cressy so hes not that big of a threat anyways.

Ooka January 24th, 2008 9:21 PM

Weezing dies from surf, and if the Empoleon has Toxic the Cresselia will have to watch out as well.

Ársa January 24th, 2008 9:26 PM

Not the Rest Talk set, but I'm not positive that many Empoleon run Toxic, do they?

Weezing takes Toxic, Cress takes surf, cress Charge Beams.

Ooka January 24th, 2008 9:30 PM

I'm just letting you know some of the possibilities you'll have to watch out for.

Ársa January 24th, 2008 9:31 PM

Yes I know. ;) (Kingdra can take a surf and HP Electric also)

~T_S

Ooka January 24th, 2008 9:40 PM

But again, same as before, if the Empoleon has Toxic.....

Ársa January 24th, 2008 9:43 PM

Kingrda outspeeds it...

~T_S

luke January 24th, 2008 10:34 PM

Kingdra won't OHKO Empoleon. So be careful.

Archer January 25th, 2008 12:04 AM

You could try to fit in a physical fighting move.
I know, Kabutops gets brick break and it could benefit from Rain Dance with Swift Swim. It has base 105 Def aswell, so you could opt to take out Sandslash for it.
