[Click Here] Rate My Shoddy Team [Click Here]

This team has been quite affective over shoddy battle, just wondering what you guys think of how it'll do in real wifi battle?

Adamant
252 HP, 210 Def, 46 Sp. Def
- Thunder wave
- Taunt
- Waterfall
- Ice Fang

My lead has gone under much scrutiny. However, he's proven to be quite useful on shoddy. He's a little bulkier than the average bulky gyarados. He's not reallly a sweeper actually, but more of a t-waving, taunting, mixed wall. He's already faster than most annoying people like blissey and forretress, so he won't have a problem taunting them. Gliscor is the only one I can think of that lays stealth rock and outspeeds gyarados, but at least got an Ice attack for it. He's quite usefull against these choice scarfed, outraging garchomps that are popular on shoddy, and a combination of t-wave with it's flinching attacks makes it a little haxful.

Timid
252 Sp. Attack, 252 Speed
- Hypnosis
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast

Pretty standard, just your plain old gengar here.

Adamant
252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Attack
- Stealth Rock
- Roar
- Waterfall
- Earthquake

Similar to a skarmory. A physical wall to switch into if I'm expecting a thunder attack or something. Quite affective against jolteons, and roar is there to roar away people who have used stat-up moves or substitutes.

http://pokemonelite2000.com/pictures/sugimori/sugimori248.png

[email protected] Belt
Adamant
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
- Dragon Dance
- Crunch
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide

Fairly common tyranitar. I was debating on whether to have either muscle band or expert belt, but because of pretty good type coverage, I'm going with Expert Belt.

Bold
252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Sp. Def
- Counter
- Thunder Wave
- Seismic Toss
- Softboiled

Though it can't damage ghosts, it can at least paralyze them so I can switch to someone else to finish them. Except for Dusknoir, most ghosts aren't that sturdy I don't think. Counter is pretty cool, I swear that counter has killed like 30 Dugtrios on shoddy, it seems that dugtrio is used as a counter for blissey somehow, not sure how though, but it seems counter screws them over. Counter can kill many physical people that try to one-shot blissey without a stat-up move. Thunderwave makes people fustrated as usual and seismic toss for standard damage.

[email protected] Powder
Adamant
252 Attack, 252 Speed, 4 HP
- Sword Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang

A pretty standard garchomp. Bright Powder makes it even more evasive along with sand veil. I make it adamant so it can one-shot a blissey after a sword dance.

And please, if you point out something wrong with my team, then also say what I can do to fix it. If you suggest something, please explain why you are suggesting it. And don't say I am weak to a single pokemon, because those comments really don't help any.

luke January 24th, 2008 8:16 AM

Brightpowder is a Hax item. I'm surprised you haven't run into a problem with it on Shoddy. Thunder Wave doesn't affect Garchomp, so I don't think that will work against it anytime soon. While you don't want a single Pokemon to be named, Mixed Electivire could rampage this team if it switches into one of those Thunder Waves.

Minun200 January 24th, 2008 8:25 AM

A good team. A nice mix of types & moves.

luke January 24th, 2008 8:26 AM

Yeah, that post did nothing to help the creator of the thread. Post like that again and you're receiving an infraction.

Syaoran January 24th, 2008 8:42 AM

I ran a T-waving Gyarados once, and frankly it's quite useless. Sure it may surprise your opponent, but the common pokemon used to counter Gyara don't mind the paralysis. Starmie and Celebi have Natural Cure so they could care less about that. Other bulky waters with HP electric like Slowbro and Vaporeon are already slow, so again, not much usefulness here. You can forget trying to flinch-hax Vaporeon because he has Water Absorb.

Go impish on Swampert. He needs it for better survivability.

TTar needs some HP to switch in easier and start his DD rampage. I usually prefer Flamethrower (or Fire Fang) on him to not get totally shut down by steels like Skarmory, Scizor and Forretress. It's so fun killing unsuspecting Scizors =]

Counter Blissey is bad, especially against more experienced users. Blissey is usually a set up fodder, which makes Counter a wasted moveslot - once you reveal it, they will use it against you. Ice Beam is definitely needed to deal with Gengar and dragons. Ice Beam will put a stop to Dugtrio and will help you much more than Counter.

BrightPowderChomp sickens me. If you're going that route, might as try a Sub Garchomp with Salac berry.

If you like, but Specs-Z / Scarf-Z gives you trouble, as well as the life orb set.

[email protected]Choice Specs
Timid
252 Sp. Attack, 252 Speed

Specs Plesh, Wide Lens increases 70% - 77% I believe, not that much difference. HP Ice is an option, as this allows you to take down those common dragons

Impish
252 HP, 252 Def, 4 Attack
- Stealth Rock / Curse
- Roar / Curse
- Waterfall / Avalanche
- Earthquake

You can always run Cursepert, extremely effective, and the bane of many Mix-Apes. Avalanche can allow for a strong attack, but you have quite a few Ice attacks, so you can stick with waterfall. Impish plesh.

[email protected]Life Orb
Adamant
252 Attack, 216 Speed, 42 HP
- Dragon Dance
- Crunch
- Stone Edge / Earthquake
- Stone Edge / Ice Fang

If you like DD, stick with it, but I suggest either Stone Edge or Ice Fang, as this allows for stronger hitting power than Rock Slide, no matter the accuracy drop.

Please and thankyou. Ice Beam can OHKO Garchomp, while Thunderbolt takes chunks from Gyara.

Lonely
252 Attack, 224 Speed, 32 Sp. Atk

Thanks again. Scarf-Chomp is scary to most. Flamethrower = Bye Bye Skarm and Forry.

And please, if you point out something wrong with my team, then also say what I can do to fix it. If you suggest something, please explain why you are suggesting it. And don't say I am weak to a single pokemon, because those comments really don't help any.

OK, looks a little better. You should invest a Mixed Attacker such as Infernape over either T-Tar or Garchomp, else Skarm-Bliss gives you troubles.

As Loquacity pointed out, Mixed-Vire wipes your team, but what team isn't weak with 13 of 17 SE hits?

Mixed-Vire eats this team ._.

Garchomp wants a Lonely nature with Fire Blast / Flamethrower to deal damage to Skarm and Forry. Fire Fang will do squat on them.

Swampert @ Leftovers
Trait: Torrent
Nature: Brave
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Attack / 84 Defense
- Waterfall / Hydropump
- Icebeam / Avalanche
- Earthquake
- Curse / Rest / Roar

finallegacy January 25th, 2008 7:38 AM

thanks a lot for the suggestions everyone. I'll definitely take many of your comments into consideration. Though remember that I'm trying to make this into a real team on my pearl version, so try your best not to suggest moves that are really hard to breed or hidden power. Thanks.

Keyira January 25th, 2008 8:28 AM

Pretty Decent team. just 1 thing :P is waterfall better then Surf?

Depends on the pokemon. Waterfall is physical and surf is special. Surf has higher base power and waterfall can flinch. So for a Gyarados, Waterfall is far better, while Starmie makes much better use of surf.

It doesn't sound like you have a Gartchomp or Salamence. Unless Blissey runs 252 sp. atk which it would never do because Blissey, in no possible way can run a sweeper set. Ice beam doesn't OHKO either of the 2. It takes 2 shots. I've battled tons of Blisseys.

Dont put lonely on Garchomp, i know 10% - in defense seems insignificant but it actually hampers its switching in ability, it has good defenses so dont cut them.

Fire Blast with Adamant or Jolly is still good, it still 2hko's Skarmory, OHKO's Forry and Scizor, exactly the same as Lonely does, so your not gaining anything with Lonely apart from cutting defenses.

Bright Powder Chomp is eww, and annoying =/. Sub is a good option on it, but yeah its up to you.

Fire Blast on Bright Powder Chomp, though is a must >>> Fire Fang, as F Fang only good on the swords dancer as you have a Life Orb, therefore able to 2hko Skarm after a swords dance with it. As your not packing a Life Orb Fire Fang wont 2hko, so Fire Blast will do more.

I simply mean that he doesn't need 2 physical sweepers, as Skarm-Bliss can wall him. A Mix-Ape, as the name implies, uses both Physical and Special Attacks, hence it is able to take down both. It seems that you don't know basic technique...
