Tanner's Photos
Don't worry, I'll also start up a new Art thread. But I'm a photographer as well, and even an amateur filmmaker. So I was thinking of maybe showing off a few of my photographs as well as my drawings.
Here are a couple photos I took at Yellowstone on New Year's Day. I live only two hours away from this geothermal wonder. But, unfortunately, you can't go anywhere beyond Mammoth Hot Springs without reservations at Old Faithful in Winter. So here are a few pictures from Mammoth. http://fc.deviantart.com/fs22/i/2008/001/7/f/Liberty_Cap_by_Raptoid.jpg At the base of the hill, there's this limestone formation called Liberty Cap. As the sign says, it's a dormant hot spring cone formed by thousands of years of mineral build-up from running water. http://fc05.deviantart.com/fs22/i/2008/001/0/7/Snow_Rabbit_by_Raptoid.jpg While I was walking around one of the inactive terraces on the hill, I came across a Mountain Hare. I took three photographs, and this is the best one. The other two were of it running away. :P http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs23/i/2008/001/7/1/Canary_Springs_Top_by_Raptoid.jpg This is Canary Spring. Water bubbles up from underneath the ground and trickles down the hill to form a terrace. It's one of the very few terraces that are currently active. Many of the surrounding terraces shut down because of seismic activity. The reason why it's so steamy is because the water is inconceivably hot. Most springs in Yellowstone are at least 150 to 200 degrees farenheit. More than hot enough to cook a person alive. http://fc.deviantart.com/fs23/i/2008/001/9/c/Canary_Springs_by_Raptoid.jpg Another photo of Canary Spring. This is taken from the other side of the pool where the water flows down the hill and forms a terrace. |
Wow, these are amazing!
I absolutely love the photograph of the Mountain Hare! They look like professional pictures. :P |
Thanks! Glad to see you like them. ^..^
I haven't been able to get around to taking more photos. So here are some older ones. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j153/Halohacker/PICT0474.jpg I took this last summer at the Natural Bridge. It's a waterfall about a half an hour west of where I live. The water from the river flows down into an underground tunnel and comes out at the bottom of the cliff. In the late spring and summer time the river rises over the tunnel and off the edge of the cliff. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j153/Halohacker/PICT0414.jpg This was taken last June while I was working in the mountains at a guest ranch in the mouth of a canyon. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j153/Halohacker/PICT0278.jpg Taken about a year ago at the train tracks. I just thought it would be fun to take some random pictures with the mountains in them. http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j153/Halohacker/PICT0279.jpg Had a little fun with perspective here. |
Nice photos.
I went to Yellowstone one. (when I was little) The only clear memory of being there is walking through a big sulfur field. (Did you meet Yogi Bear while you were there?) Those photos at the top kina remind me of my town, except with more trees and buildings. xP I'd like to live in one of those cabins in the canyon. |
The first pic on the latest post is awesome. They're all really nice (although you showed me some already)
|
I promise, I'll have some newer pictures coming soon. I took this at a friend's house back in September when they started harvesting apples and pressing them for cider. We made 27 gallons total. :P

Awesome photos. What kind of camera do you have?
|
It's a two year old Vivitar camera, and it still works fine. ^..^
