Do people only want EV's?

I just started my Pearl game like a week ago, and I barley found out about this "EV" training. I just like to go through the game defeating what ever pokemon comes along. Should I even bother to EV train my pokemon if I wanna trade? I don't care what kind of pokemon I get in trades. I just wanna fill my pokedex up and train my own pokemon. I don't know about most people, do they only accept pokemon that are EV trained?

So if other people don't mind plain old pokemon, I would be happy to trade with ya!

Heh, no, no, no, people don't ONLY want EV-trained Pokemon. My old thread would be a testament to that...Anyway, as long as you don't plan on asking for EV-trained Pokemon in return (in which case it might become relevant), you don't necessarily need to EV train Pokemon for people to want them. It'll help, no doubt about it, but it isn't necessary.

As for going through the game without worrying about it, go ahead. That's how a lot of people go through, anyway. Besides, there are always the EV-reducing berries to erase whatever you don't want, if it comes to that.

Oh, ok then! I was starting to get worried. I was about to restart my whole game just for that!

Thanks for the info^_^

i'd play the game as it is, and after you complete it, thats when you should start caring about ev's in you want to battle competitivly.

How do you EV train a guy? every website I go to just ends up confuseing me

There's a big guide somewhere on this site, but a very simple version:
*Each pokemon gives off Effort values in a certain stat wen you beat it. SOme will also give more than others
*When your poke gets four in any particular stat, you get +1 to that stat.
Simple, but there are items and conditions that can vary the results. Check the main guide (Wherever it is nowadays)

No, you don't need to EV Train it if you want to trade.

- People only EV Train Pokemon for competetive battling reasons.

Otherwise its a waste of time. I don't suppose many collectors EV Train them at all.

However, EV Trained pokemon are more attractive to traders than just regular pokemon.
Un-touched Pokemon and EV Trained Pokemon are what most Traders are looking for.

If every website's confused you, then I don't know what to tell you. This pretty much makes it simple:
You can only get 252 EVS in each stat, and you can only get 510 EVs total. A common way to simplify it is train your Pokemon with a 252 / 252 / 4 EV spread. As for where, a few sites have good locations and Pokemon, like Old Chateau's Gastlies (1 EV) and Haunters (2 EVs) for Sp.Attack training.

For the actual thread, in-game is fine without EVs. And, you can breed your best Pokemon from in-game to get TM and Egg-Moves onto Pokemon you can EV train.

To trade, you might go for Lv.1 Pokemon just-hatched with good egg-moves and natures. Someone might like that offer.

Its actually 255, but only 252 are useful. Another thing: Make sure your EVs are divisible by 4 :)

I think you mean 252/252/6? 252+252=504+6= 510. Even though the other two wont hurt much, get them in one of your 252 stats, if im correct, it'll give 1 more point to it, 252 + 2= 254/4 = 63.5
Instead of 252, which is 2 Evs less and is although half a point, will make a slight difference. Trust me.

It depends on each person. Some like everything "untouched", even if it's just a regular Pokémon, which cannot be untouched. Some like it to have no experience. Some like them to have no EVs. It just depends, but if someone wants to be specific, you can always reduce EVs with berries.

And this was going offtopic anyway.
