Does the game ever REALLY end?

Here is a question I was thinking about. Do Pokemon games ever end. I dont think they do as there is always something to do whether it be rechallenging the Elite 4, completing the Pokedex, taking part in battle frontier or battle tower, or rebattling trainers. What do you think?

shadow25 February 2nd, 2008 10:44 AM

no it is goes on for a LONG TIME e.g KANTO TO SINNOH

ultimatelegend5 February 2nd, 2008 10:49 AM

nope , because you can always level up pokemon and breed and catch new ones. The early ones I do believe could end, but now the gba ones or d/p

BeachBoy February 2nd, 2008 10:52 AM

If your playing naturlly without hacking, the games go on forever really, there's always something you can do, just hav to have the time and drive to do them. xD

yep exactly but if you play with hacks. it can end, if you get every poke to lvl 100 and every shiny =/

Zanacross February 2nd, 2008 11:15 AM

But imagine if you can get all pokemon lvl 100 and all shiny without hacking. (posible)
Defeat the elite 4 the max amount of times. get max amount of money/items

Defeat all trainers.

I think it can be done.

Omega Saikon February 2nd, 2008 11:27 AM

I don't think the games ever end.

true but then you can always play online with d/p and join in the gym leagues

lostprophetsown February 2nd, 2008 1:31 PM

no because maybe you could get every pokemon with every moveset and stat and ability and shiny but it would take forever and you can always to battle tower rechallenge elite four trade with friends battle with friends remake secret base etc so i dont think they do even if the story line ends

Trainer Kat February 2nd, 2008 1:58 PM

But don't you eventually run out of space? ._.;;
I have 540 Pokemon, I think that's the max you can have [not including your team], and all my boxes are full...

I say it can be done. I have the max amount of money, pokemon, etc, plus shinies of every Pokemon I want [stuff like shiny Shellos doesn't appeal to me...it looks almost identical to its normal one. Shiny Darkrai, on the other hand...]...I'd say I'm pretty much done. ._.

I mean, yeah, you can do online with D/P, but that gets old once you start to memorize your friends' teams, and you can do random battle with PBR, but half the time, you get noobs with a team of five hacked legends and a Lucario [which are ALL easily taken care of if you have good, diverse movesets], and that loses its fun after a while.

So I think it's totally possible to be done with a Pokemon game.

Thats D/p fool

lol :p

It can be done but you would be a sad loser with no life. *cough*kat*cough*

Percy Thrillington February 2nd, 2008 3:18 PM

This thread just isn't epic enough for such a serious matter, so it needs my presence to survive.

No. A Pokemon game will never end. You could get bored of it and never play it, but that doesn't really count.

Jessie February 2nd, 2008 3:28 PM

No. To catch and level up every Pokemon to 100 would take an extremely long time and even after that there is stuff to do. If you have the Vs. Seeker you can re-battle [almost] anyone over again.

Denuo February 2nd, 2008 3:39 PM

For someone who plays as casual as me (Couple of hours maybe less a night) I'd say no, definitely not. I like that, it's one of the only games that is like it (Sims 2, Oblivion come to mind)

Open ended games rock.

Sam

Also, in Pokemon Emerald there is so much more you can do such as the Battle Tents, Pokemon Contests, Battle Frontier, and my personal favorite, rechallenging gym leaders and trainers. Yet in Sonic games after you beat all of the levels and get the Emeralds, youre done.

ultimatelegend5 February 2nd, 2008 4:57 PM

you can re challenge gym leaders in Emerald??? That's amazing I had no clue, how many times can you re challenge them?

Probably as many times as you'd like. But I would imagine you'd have to wait a while (or walk a certain amount of steps) before you can re-challenge them. But you won't get as much money or exp. point (I don't think).

oh ok cool thanks, wow so that adds even more to emeralds replayability

It still applies. I said Shiny Shellos because, well, I have a picture of one on my wall. If you'd rather I say Shiny Jigglypuff then fine. Either way, the shiny looks virtually the same as its counterpart. If you can run out of box space in D/P, then you certainly can in Ru/Sa/E. And I brought up the online game because the OP did. :] So you see, everything still applies.

Gee thanks.
It's the whole obtainable Pokedex. Plus all the event Pokemon. xD

Stardust February 2nd, 2008 8:18 PM

I don't think the game ever ends, since there are always things you can do.

PokemonTrainerApril February 3rd, 2008 4:23 AM

This is the game that never eeeennndddsss and it goes on and on my fffrrriiieeennndddsss!

Couldn't restrain myself there. Anyway, it's a game that doesn't end because there are always stuff to do. You can battle with friends, trade with friends, change your team, experiment with different movesets and natures and Pokemon, contests, so so much! The list goes on and on.

ultimatelegend5 February 3rd, 2008 8:38 AM

The only game that can match this is Sims 2 with its replay ability

Hehe, yeah probably. .... no, Sims actually beats Pokémon. There are more different sims than pokémon.
But I agree, the games never truly end, the only thing that ends or fades is, as many here have stated, the urge to play them.

Yeah true, :) but I get bored of sims 2 sometimes, but pokemon I usually don't

Virtual Chatot February 3rd, 2008 1:59 PM

How did the Sims games even get involved in this topic? o_o

If you have the time and the attention span, you can completely beat the game. I guess completely beating it would be getting every shiny, maxing out all of your pokemon, and Beating all the events.

cuz i compared the sims 2 to pokemon. yea your right that is possible but very very difficult

Virtual Chatot February 3rd, 2008 4:38 PM

How...could you compare...

...

Care to explain how you can compare games that are based on totally separate gameplay than each other?

I based the amount of re playability between the two games. Because you can replay Pokemon a whole lot because of the features, but in Sims 2 you can replay it a whole lot because of the tons of different generations and such.

ℜªℳ February 3rd, 2008 5:48 PM

I believe pokemon is completable due to the fact that I just beat my diamond version jpn last week. I mean events, shiny pkdx, etc. while linking with my cousins and capturing my 700th flag. I am still bored with the game. And no I didn't use a cheat machine! I'm too cheap to buy one anyway.

Imakuni? February 3rd, 2008 5:54 PM

Yep. The game ends. All games to. It ends whenever you get tired of it and stop playing. Eventually you'll run out of events or things to do and just quit. Sure, you can restart the game and play it again, but really once you've done that 10 or 12 times, its over, you know?

ultimatelegend5 February 3rd, 2008 5:55 PM

Oh ok cool. Yeah I geuss it would be boring after a while

EDIT: I read the post correctly, and changed my rudeness sorry

They never said "in one week", they said last week. Who knows when they started? The Japanese version came out in September 2006... go figure.

Yeah I realized now I just changed it.

TotoRitaQuil February 3rd, 2008 6:10 PM

Nope its a never ending cycle of training, battling, and catching, Unless you stop playing that is.

thats true but what happens if you maxed out your Pokedex and you got all your pokes to level 100?
Thats what I always think about, but then I realize I can collect Shinies, play online (in D/P) battle tower, breeding and a lot more. I truly believe Pokemon is an amazing endless game with always things to do!

Imakuni? February 3rd, 2008 6:17 PM

I still feel it ends... until you restart it.

I've always hated rom hacks, but now that I own a PSP and their all portable, I can play so many different games, it never truely ends.

ultimatelegend5 February 3rd, 2008 6:19 PM

But if you have motivation to get every shiny, that'll take a long, long time, and also to get all pokes to lvl 100.

Actually, in fact I believe the GBA games can end but probably after like 700+hours of game play. Because in D / P there is online play

Treeckouser February 4th, 2008 9:12 AM

I guess it's almost impossible, but still yes. If you have a lot of patience, I guess you can make it to the end...

Skaterzpenguin February 4th, 2008 9:59 AM

I say no, because you can do stuff everyday just like G/S/C and D/P. ;)
*there is also events*

ultimatelegend5 February 4th, 2008 11:46 AM

Very true, lots and lots of stuff to do in these great games
