which ability should i pick

ok, im making a dark-themed team on diamond, and i thought id put a drapion on.

BUT i have a bit of a dilemma :(

i cannot pick which ability to have on my drapion. should it be -

Sniper - powers up critical hits when they hit

or

Battle Armor - blocks critical hits

any help is appreciated =)

Sniper sounds better. Its all about attack .

True Justice February 8th, 2008 11:47 AM

i agree, sniper is a much better ability than battle armor. drapion has a base speed of 95. so picking up the first attack and scoring a critical hit is a better option.

It depends if your going for a defensive type or offensive type. So choice depending on what you want.

Snipers usually the way to go though.

Actually, your moveset changes if you switch Abilities, since half of Drapion's skills lie in
Defense and the other in Offense.

Remember that if you pick Sniper, you mostly rely on your small chance to Critical Hit or
Choice Band (Sniper doesn't increase the % chance!). If you don't use the attacks that
have a 10% extra crit percent, then you aren't using Sniper to its full potential, and you
would be better off using Battle Armor. Drapion can learn Cross Poison, Night Slash,
and Slash, where its stronger alternatives are Poison Jab, Crunch, and Return.

A good thing about Sniper is that it generally requires no setup, but requires more luck.

Battle Armor
Knock Off
Toxic Spikes
Whirlwind
Confuse Ray
Screech
Swords Dance
Agility
Primary Offense: Crunch and Poison Jab

Sniper
Night Slash
Cross Poison
Brick Break
X-Scissor
Slash
Pursuit
Swords Dance

Generally, I use Battle Armor since my Drapion doesn't spend much time attacking, and
when it does, the attack it uses will usually be 40 or less power.

Battle armour makes you safer, you get a power up anyway with a critical hit.

Romo_Owens February 8th, 2008 1:22 PM

go w ith sniper and put on zoom lens. with stab night slash having a high chance of a critical hit it will be a critical hit almost every time which pretty much gives it a power of 220

70(1.5)(2)
110(2)
=220

When you critical hit, you hit for twice the damage.
When you do it with Sniper, your power is doubled, THEN you hit for twice.

PLUS, when you Critical Hit, the user rejects any Defense-boosts by the foe
and Attack-deductions on the user (but not Attack-boosts or Defense-deductions).

It could kill my Cradily in a single hit if it Crit, even while I had 6+ Defense at full
health. And Cradily has some mean Defensive stats already.

I'd highly suggest Sniper over Battle Armor. Sniper can be extremely useful to a Drapion that runs Night Slash, which I believe has a high critical hit ratio.
