UU Team

After recieving an interesting ropius on the GTS, I wanted to build a UU team around it. Here's what I've got:

Toxicroak (♂) @ Choice Band
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Sucker Punch
- Brick Break/Cross Chop
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab

Physical Sweeper. Sucker Puch should do a number on most leads. Gets a free switch-in when Ninetales is in danger of a water attack.
---
Ninetales (♀) @ Wide Lens
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 6 HP/252 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hypnosis
- Nasty Plot
- Flamethrower
- Energy Ball

Special Sweeper. Use Wide Lens to put the opponent to sleep, NP up and sweep. Can use Tropius to draw fire moves, boosting her Flamethrower.
---
Nidoking (♂) @ Life Orb
Ability: Poison Point
EVs: 114 Atk/252 Spd/144 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Megahorn
- Thunderbolt
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam

Mixking. Not sure of the standard, but this seems pretty solid. Also draws water moves for Toxicroak or:
---
Politoed (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP/58 SAtk/200 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Hypnosis
- Toxic
- Hydro Pump/Surf
- Mud Shot/Ice Beam

An interesting double-status special tank. Mud Shot is mainly there to reduce opponent's speed. Switch into water moves for extra HP recovery.
---
Torkoal (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: White Smoke
EVs: 252 HP/6 Atk/252 Def
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Curse
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin

Physical Wall. After a few Curses, Gyro Ball should mash everything.
---
Tropius (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP/6 SAtk/252 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Air Slash
- Roost
- Whirlwind

Special Wall. Immune to Ground, resistant to Grass, Water and Fighting, good Sp. Def and very good HP to back it up. Whirlwind gets rid of phazers and some threats.
---

Well, ladies and gentlemen, rate away.

EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk) I say Adamant here..., but Jolly is good too.
- Sucker Punch
- Brick Break/Cross Chop
- Earthquake
- Poison Jab

Physical Sweeper. Sucker Puch should do a number on most leads. Gets a free switch-in when Ninetales is in danger of a water attack.

- Nasty Plot
- Flamethrower
- Energy Ball

Special Sweeper. Use Wide Lens to put the opponent to sleep, NP up and sweep. Can use Tropius to draw fire moves, boosting her Flamethrower. (Problem, Too Risky... Most people will Ice Tropius before they burn her....)
---
Nidoking (♂) @ Life Orb
Ability: Poison Point
EVs: 114 Atk/252 Spd/144 SAtk
Naive nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Megahorn
- Thunderbolt
- Earthquake
- Ice Beam

Mixking. Not sure of the standard, but this seems pretty solid. Also draws water moves for Toxicroak or:
(Good point... But You're forgeting Ice can also take the king down... Just be mindful of that before you try to draw put water pokemon....

---
Politoed (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP/58 SAtk/200 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Hypnosis
- Toxic
- Hydro Pump/Surf Hydro Pump to hard hitting or Surf to play it Safe.... Nice and a bit truoblesome to pick....
- Mud Shot/Ice Beam I would go with Ice beam, but the pros are going to say Mud Bomb....

An interesting double-status special tank. Mud Shot is mainly there to reduce opponent's speed. Switch into water moves for extra HP recovery. (Good Concept for UU)
---
Torkoal (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: White Smoke
EVs: 252 HP/6 Atk/252 Def
Relaxed nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Curse
- Gyro Ball
- Stealth Rock
- Rapid Spin GET A BETTER FIRE MOVE.....

Physical Wall. After a few Curses, Gyro Ball should mash everything. (That's not a bad looking Torkoal or should I say Cursekoal....)

---
Tropius (♂) @ Leftovers
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP/6 SAtk/252 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Air Slash
- Roost
- Whirlwind

Special Wall. Immune to Ground, resistant to Grass, Water and Fighting, good Sp. Def and very good HP to back it up. Whirlwind gets rid of phazers and some threats. Fire Types and Ice types (4X for Icers) will bring her down..... With the field now using pokemon with Ice Moves, I say there is a better way to go than Tropius.....
---

Well, ladies and gentlemen, rate away.

Good Job with the concepts for UU, but I think there can be better choices.. Anyways, good job... 8/10....

Curse Coal is not too good when i tried it =[

Try this

[email protected]
252 HP / 252 DEF / 6 SP.ATT
Relaxed Nature
- Lava Plume
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic / Yawn / Stealth Rock
- Explosion / Rest

A sort of double status. Lava Plume has a 30% burn rate which is nice on things that want to come in and EQ him. Toxic can hit bulky waters on the switch, Yawn is your PHaze move. Alternately Stealth Rock can got here if you want team support.

Explosion on that last slot if you want to go out with a Bang, or Rest to make him last longer.

Anti February 10th, 2008 8:15 AM

I would probably just BOOM Torkoal since it doesn't last long. It defines why people hate fire as a defensive type...EQ weak, rock weak, water weak...ew. So yeah, Go BOOM with Torkoal.

Jimmyray February 10th, 2008 8:57 AM

Aerodactly with sash has a field day against this team. It has a move that can pretty much OHKO everything. You need a counter.

luke February 10th, 2008 9:01 AM

It's UU Jimmyray. No Aerodactyl there.

Jimmyray February 10th, 2008 9:18 AM

Now THAT is a good point.

El Gofre February 10th, 2008 9:40 AM

On the whle its ok, but you have 3 ice weaks (One of which is quad) and 3 psychic weaks (Another quad), and a wall which is weak to both. I'd switch tropius for hypno, who i have found to be the best UU special wall.

luke February 10th, 2008 10:07 AM

I don't see three Ice weaks. Only Nidoking and Tropius. And the four other Pokemon on his team RESIST it. And only two Psychic weaks as well. So I don't know what you're talking about.

El Gofre February 10th, 2008 10:11 AM

Sorry a moment of madness lol. I thought torkoal was rock instead of fire, and for some reason i thought psychic was super effective against grass. Forgive me, i talk sense most of the time :P

boo836 February 10th, 2008 10:41 AM

You have 4 weak to ground and 3 to rock and flying. Stone edge/ Earthquake = Doom. May I suggest octillory? I have a set somewhere, so I'll try to find that.

Anti February 10th, 2008 10:56 AM

Rock isn't weak to ice either :0

And like Dark_Azelf said, I wouldn't try cursing Torkoal.

Samson February 10th, 2008 11:42 AM

give ninetales fire blast instead of flamethrower. make more use of wide lens, why doncha. also, give it timid. with its speed, it basically outruns most if not all lower tier threats, which is especially why they made it BL rather UU.

curse on torkoal does suck. =/ i dunno, even with tropius' resistance, this team has too bad of a ground weakness. drop torkoal for sandslash. pronto.

that nidoking is not going to be doing much damage, but that is reality.

i'd give toxicroak some hp evs so it can take some hits.
