Another Newbies Team

I hope im laying this out properly :/

Any advice would be good on this team. Im not doing any tourney running or anything - just general play, mainly against friends, and i've decided to mainly go with pokemon I like/ones that arn't too bad.

(I've not put in held items for some pokemon simply because im not sure what to give them - still feeling my way around)

Gengar
EVs: 6 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hasty Nature
-Shadow Ball
-Thunderbolt
-Hypnosis
-Focus Blast

Scizor
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def
Adamant Nature
Ability: Technician
-X-Scissor
-Iron Head
-Pursuit
-Agility

(was thinking of dropping pursuit for U-turn)

Starmie @Leftovers
EVs: 236 HP / 56 SAtk / 216 Spd
Timid Nature Ability: Natural Cure
-Surf
-Ice Beam
-Rapid Spin
-Recover

Gliscor @Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 6 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature Ability: Sand Veil
-Earthquake
-Aerial Ace
-Roost
-Stealth Rock

Toxicroak @Choice Band
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
Ability: Dry Skin
-Poison Jab
-Stone Edge
-Cross Chop
-Sucker Punch

Snorlax @Leftovers
EVs: 82 HP / 40 Atk / 136 Def / 252 SDef
Careful Nature Ability: Thick Fat
-Body Slam
-Crunch
-Sleep Talk
-Rest

++++
I originally had thunderbolt instead of icebeam on starmie but I changed it as I think Dragons may give me some trouble. Thanks for any help in advance

Looks nice. I like it.
However,
Gliscor's ability doesn't help at all, change it for Dactyl or something.

Starmie, it's already timid it needs that special attack.
252 Spd/ 252 sp.atk/ 6 HP

Other than that it seems good. For Scizor, keep pursuit, most of the time people will switch out on ya and it is the only way you actually make use of Technition.

Replacing the team's only form of physucal walling for the frail Aerodactyl would be really stupid.

BTW Starmie needs bulk if it runs Recover and Rapid Spin.

That Snorlax needs HP. Otherwise you're just begging huge special threats to eat you alive.

Scizor is also commonly used as a Baton Passer, and from the looks of it, your team might need some extra speed on it.

I don't really have much faith in Toxicroak for sweeping power.

Thanks guys for the help

Does it really? Just i've seen other people outfit their starmies in a similar fasion and im not sure what the move 'bulk up' would do - unless im misreading you?

What would be the best way to change my EV points into from?
EVs: 82 HP / 40 Atk / 136 Def / 252 SDef

Should I take out the attack points and put them into HP instead?

As for Toxicroak - yes he may not be the best but im going to try him out for a while. Im basically trying to avoid falling into the traps of choosing the same pokemon team as everyone else (since obviously some pokemon are of better use than others) and I guess i've already done this to an extent with starmie and Gengar (and possibly snorlax)- so i've tried choosing pokemon I like.

Im currently trying to think of other BL/UO pokemon to switch into this team. How common is Donphan? (as an aside question)

Once again thanks for helping me out

Snorlax doesn't need all that defense, and no attack EVs if you want to make the most use of a Wall Snorlax and buff up its HP and SDef to where both have near-max EVs.

By "bulk" I meant giving it a different EV spread, Starmie can't even learn Bulk Up :P But yeah, 172 HP / 216 Spd / 120 SAtk is standard, but I recommend giving it 4 more speed EVs if you use thunderbolt to outrun other Starmie and I think it will also beat Azelf, but I'm not sure on that one.

Donphan isn't all that common though it is OU (BL at the VERY worst) as most people see it as a worse Hippowdon. However, it has access to a priority move in Ice Shard and has better attack power than hippowdon, and gives teams the much-needed rapid spinner. It also is good if sandstorm hinders your team rather than helping it.

You have Gliscor though so I wouldn't worry. If you want a mixed wall, Spiritomb or Dusknoir are good options to cover Snorlax's fighting weakness will will hinder it in taking on pokemon with moves like Focus Blast.
